The Shadow Nexus
Hello all, once again. Recently I've been working on my Guild Wars 2, "Hall Of monuments" for rewards when GW2 is released, and what I'm currently stuck on is The Shadow Nexus.
I've looked, and looked, and looked for info on how to go about simply making a team suitable for this. I know the basics. Interrupts, Lightning damage reduction such as Mantra of Lightning, Binding Ritual(s) Shelter and Union, etc... But I simply can't make a viable group. I have every single skill that is currently un-lockable, and I have every Hero, except for Thackeray, on my Monk.
What I'm wondering is; is there anyone out there with any tips/tricks on how to do this place?
I've gotten 3 Mysterious Armor Pieces already, but it's been apperent to me for days now that those were by complete fluke, as the Portal Mage's will not drop the armor pieces at all now...

No, just like certain other "challenge missions" (except Glint for example), you normally only get three or four, and then the chance goes waaaaay down it seems
Just buy the damn things, rather than wasting time, they don't cost much.

I agree with Venganza. After getting my first few the drop rate plummeted. As you're focusing on filling your HoM, you should complete the DoA before you buy any more armour pieces, as I think you have a chance of getting an armour remnant that you can apply to all nightfall heroes.

There is a time limit on how long the drop rate is reduced to near 0, much like the treasures in the rest of Nightfall. If you don't feel like buying the pieces, you can wait at least 30 days between attempts and the drop rate should return to normal. I have done this while farming armor pieces for guildies, although I usually wait a full 2 months while I do other things.
As far as a team goes;
1 Damage Dealer
1 Healer
1 MM
1 Interrupter
Although it seems obvious, remember to wear your Lightbringer title.

This is 100% spot-on.
Your account will get super lucky when you start running the Nightfall missions which drop hero armor randomly (the 3 challenge missions & Domain of Anguish). You'll get three armors. Fast. You'll be pleased.
Then you'll never see another armor drop in that mission. Ever. I promise.
Farm 3 and then go buy the rest, mate! :-)

The hero armor drop rate for the challenge missions is reduced by character, not by your account. All you have to do is switch characters. This makes outfitting all heroes on all characters tedious, but that isn't needed if one is only concerned with the HoM.

I've farmed 15 of each just by being patient and waiting at least 30 days before starting again. I then received another 3-5 pieces in each challenge mission and waited some more. It works. I tried swapping characters but that didn't work for me in the Shadow Nexus, although it did in other missions.

Damn... That's kinda stupid how they did that, but I suppose it isn't un-warrented. Alright then. Thanks for all the info and advice guys!
Although right now I'm flat broke Minime, but I'll farm up some cash and probably get ahold of you.
And although I've never really attempted the DoA, I'll read up on it, and give it a shot.
So. Thanks again everyone! These forums are a heck of a lot more helpful then that of the WoW Forums in regards to WoW...

To farm these it is insanely easy with (here we go) 3 discorders and you as ap caller. Spike the portal mage and he is dead. repeat job and get those remnants

I farmed 15 Mysterious Armors last weekend... I went on maybe 15 runs. I used three different chars (Necro, Rit, Mes). So the average was 1 armor per run. I had many runs without armor, the first run on my mesmer gave me 5 armors and another run on my rit gave me 3 armors.

I know getting the armors are random but I just scored 281 and got a whopping 1 armor for my efforts. I haven't been here since the HOM came out either. Are you sure the drop rate resets?

I'm quite sure they don't reset at all.
