Default Questions about solo play, or best alternative

i'm brand new to this game and this forum and i have a couple quick questions. you don't need to answer all of them, even if you can answer 1 it would be helpful

is guild wars a game you can solo? if so which race would be best for doing so?

does guild wars have enough players to party w/ so i wouldn't need to play solo?

are there unlockables for guild wars 2 that are attained by playing guild wars 1? if so does it matter if you buy gw1 and gw2 through different places? (steam and poweruprewards for instance)

thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer this humble noob

The majority of the game is designed to be played in a party of 4, 6, 8, or 12 (usually it's 8 ) and you can add computed-controlled henchmen or heroes in order to fill your party. So yes, most of the game is solo-friendly, as long as you understand your own build and the builds of your allies. But there are some things that are far easier in a party with some real players.
And, speaking of builds, you may want to check out PvX wiki for some advice on the most common builds and the official GW wiki for anything else related to GW.

I'm going to assume you meant to say "which profession" instead of "which race" and, to answer that question, I recommend you try one of the spell-casters other than the Monk (so the Necro, Mesmer, Ele, or Rit). In general, I find spell-casters have a significant advantage to physical attackers because they don't have to worry about being body-blocked, obstructed or blinded/weakened. And, while they do have to worry about being dazed, that condition is far less crippling and less common. And I wouldn't recommend the Monk because they don't have very good offensive builds available.

That depends on what you're doing. If you're just going through the story-line in Normal Mode then you will probably have a hard time finding other people. However, many players tend to do the daily Zaishen quests in Hard Mode, the elite areas, or some speed-clear.
If you really want to group up with other real players then I suggest you join an active guild.

Yes, it's called the Hall of Monuments which can only be unlocked with the Eye of the North expansion.

As far as I know, it does not matter from where you bought GW 1 or GW 2. The rewards will be activated all the same.

First of all Welcome to GW1.

As most of the questions have been answered I have to ask are you mostly wishing the gw1 play to obtain rewards in GW2 ?.

If so there are many ways to obtain and there are some guides here on guru to assist you in that respect.

Just to add a few things Proph has a long curve to complete and the rewards are the lowest although its the best for storyline .

Factions is the quickest but the curve is steeper rewards are better

Nightfall is good as far as the curve goes and you obtain heros as you progress.

To be honest you have the 6 core profesions in the 3 campaigns but factions and nightfall have additional classes.

Eye of the north is a must have if you are wishing Hall of monuments rewards in GW2.

Although I have only touched a few things I wish you well and my honest opinion is that GW1 is far superior to gw2 although I am an altholic in both.

So play as you wish and have fun in the game

As far as profession goes there are some easier than others, some are also more used in elite areas if you come to play the game for alot of hours.

The casters that are used the most in elite areas are
Monk (depends)
Ritualist (depends)
Elementalist (bonder/nuker)
(Mesmer) (mimic other casters, mixed builds and siggieway for DoA)

The physicals that are used the most are
Assassin (Shadowform)
Warrior (skills; Hundred Blades, Save Yourselves)

Those 5 will make it a bit easier to play, the easiest to get into elite pug's (pick up group) would be monk and sin.
I'd recommend playing what you find fun. As far as simplicity is concerned though: Ritualist, Elementalist, Mesmer (this is imo) and assassin the easiest to play the game through (sin is locked down to a specific build which basically makes it to an aggroherder - view a guide/turtuorial on a videosite).

I'd highly recommed joining a mid sized guild (least 20 active - that's daily, members), it will help alot. IF you are only in to gain the titles for GW2 then I'd recommend going for sin, rit, monk or mesmer as profession.

See to that you got these links;
