Swords are quicker then axes and have a higher min damage but lower max damage. Some axes are two handed. Apart from that it all depends on what skills you have/want to use/personal choice

To me the AXE is the best of both worlds. You swing it one handed and can have a shield. Swords look cooler but do not the damage I want that I get from an AXE. Especially Melee damage.

Especially if you're surrounded. Good old cyclone axe is a godsend sometimes. And if you're a w/mo those smiting spells can come in quite handy. (healing? what's that )

mhm Axe owns, most people use swords because they look "cool" and they cause bleeding.
bleeding seems cool... but get your mind off of it if you want to play more versatile.. axes can do about anything.

as for PvE:.. you can't bleed undead creatures get your mind of off swords, you might want one at the start, bleeding is more effective then, but later on especially in PvP look beyond the things that deal direct damage.

That really depends, I have tested both the axe and sword and imo the sword wins with a high strength build because of the sheer damage output.

The reason is because as a axe user, you would be using one of your elites on either Cleave or Eviscrate, now these skills are very good elites none the less but I believe the best elite skill for a warrior is Battle rage.

As a sword user, I can have battle rage in my build, and still do excellent damage because battle rage allows me to charge up adrenalin very quickly thus alowing me to use skills such as Galrath's slash, Final thrust etc relatively often. The speed bonus that comes along with battle rage is also very nice for chasing down runners. Not to mention that at 13 strength it lasts for 18 seconds and its costs is only 4 adrenalin.

Another good thing about using a sword is that you can inflict bleeding which is a good way to help soften up enemy warriors or heavily armored opponents.

This is just my opinion and in the end the only way to decide is to try out both the axe and sword for a period of time and determine which weapon suits your style of play.

It really depends on what you are fighting. I have tried sword, axe and hammer builds. All of them are good but of course each of them has different roles and can be countered.

Axe warriors are very good against ranged enemies because they can give alot of conditions to them. Eviscerate (Elite) + Axe Rake can stop your enemies from fleeing and running. That's what I used in PvP and in rpg. You can only get evicerate in Ring of Fire regions tho.

Sword warriors are more like all-rounders. They have really good skills like Hundred Blades (Elite from prince) and Salvage Slash that are sometimes underrated. My favourite is hunderd blades for sword skill becuase it can quickly give you adrenaline and do double damage with 5 mana.

Hammer warriors are more like disrupting warriors. Back-Breaker (Elite) with Belly smash can stop other warriors from doing massive damage.

I have tried all the builds I mentioned above and they are all good, but you really need to know what you are fighting and what you are trying to achieve.

The two are comparable, and which you want really does depend on the build. In general I prefer Axe for the scary criticals and a wider selection of solid adrenal skills, but you can go either way.

Peace,
