In reply to the above post, I agree that taking away attack skills in place of a way to remove conditions or hexes doesn't seem really smart. But anyone that's played warrior knows, for a fact, that if you have blind or weakness...you might as well be doing something other than attacking. I play a W/N at times, and Plague Touch is a great skill to have around. Now, mind you if someone was stacking blind and weakness on me, there isn't much I'm doing besides giving them to the nearest enemy, and removing them from myself.

Yes, that takes away how much damage I'm effectively dealing. But if someone keeps stacking those on me, they are taking away from something else they can be doing too. I love it when Air Elementalists concentrate on blinding me and weaknessing me...cause just as much as it takes me out of the fight, that keeps them out of the fight too.

Balthazar's Aura (what you said) deals damage to surrounding foes.

Balthazar's Spirit (what you meant) gives energy and adrenaline.

You're welcome, bub.

Ranger = Interrupt your heals/enchantments or drain your mana and you're nothing. Works best with a necro secondary for rend or a mesmer secondary to keep draining/interrupting.

Warrior = A W/N > A W/Mo any day in the arena if they know their stuff. Again, rend enchantments combined with either life stealing skills or curses can kill you very easily. The best way is to use axes, spam conditions, and then use curses on you. Unless you have a monk who brought debuffs, you're left with a high health degen and an even lower dmg output than a W/Mo normally has.

Elementalist = Ever played against an aeromancer? I think not.

Monk = Depends if you mean the droknars arena in shiverpeak or the arena in yaks. If its droknars, they should protect or heal. If its yaks, you need to shut your trap. My monk was a smiter then, and it cut through W/Mo's like a hot knife through butter

The problem isn't that W/Mo is the "best" class. It is actually one of the worst outside the 4v4 arenas to be honest, since it is so easily countered and has no form of major damage output. The problem is that people in the arenas are generally idiots or they brought skills to counter a different class since generally people ignore the warriors if they are smart, since they do the least amount of damage and conditions/hexes. And yes, my primary is a W/N, I know how you feel =P

Be nice to us War/Mo fellas =( We really don't bring too much to the table.

What would be nice? A skill that goes well with Fear Me! @ 16 tacts it only saps 4 energy. So sad, but at 4 adren.. something other than For Great Justice! would be nice to combo it.

My War/Mo is just the Monk part for show, so you get those Backfires and what not cast on you.. it's funny. A lot of people here are ignorant about how defense warriors work, but that's ok. I took an Aeromancer on today and his warrior buddy because he thought spike damage and sapping my mana means win.

There are many cool things Warriors can do other than dealing damage. I've seen Warriors decked in Energy + gear and protection.. simply because no one expects it.

For the record though.. I haven't met a ranger yet that can kill me. He is right though.. killing the ranger is another matter too. But whirling defense? Come on.. unless the Warrior is dumb he just stops attacking till it wears off.

Can you elaborate on that? I am a bit of a loss at what to do in W/N vs W/Mo (me being an axe-wielding W/N).

I am a W/Mo in HoH arena. I slap on mending (which NO ONE EVER dispels) and usually whatever damage I receive is recovered through that. I am the only useful warrior in the tombs, a knockdown warrior, and being in the thick of battle I am the caller as well. The lack of respect that most have from my class is great! With my 4 second knockdown, backbreaker, bulls strike, and sprint most monks find themselves unable to cast through most of the battle. I will be the first to admit that the class itself is useless except when you are able to communicate with you casters to let them know right when they can nuke due to knockdown. When a group of eles strike all at once on a knocked down monk the entire group gets disrupted.

Niddy is right on on this one. With 75 skills per perfession and 2 proffessions to choose from there are a ton of things you can do apart from being the cliche damage absorbing swordy. I run a smiting War/mo that only uses the War Part for Disrupting Chop. The rest are high damage smiting signets, purge signet for the occasional backfire.

I behave almost exactly like a caster would, but I get ignored because my name says "Wa/Mo" in front of it. It is a beautiful thing to behold when people like Molov Joss try to drain my mana and adrenaline and then realize on their death beds that I dont use either to kill them.

My War/Mo has been one of the most effective killing machines I have ever run in the random team arena.

Is there a counter for him? Sure is, but people dont use it on him because they think he is something that he is not.

I use a W/E recently, and it is really good. WIth armor of earth I hardly ever take damage, and with pheonix (sp?) and a few other random fire AoE spells I do alot of dmg. I have conjure flame on my fellblade with a firey hilt on, but I will soon switch to earthquake/aftershock when I get there.

W/Mo's are so common, most people know how to beat them by now. Immobulate, conjure phantanism, empathy, backfire, meteor. Mhm, any of those will cause some problems.

Still, monk's 4ever!

Yes, this was a random post too.

As a N/R, a Smiting W/Mo won't even make it to me, regardless of energy or adrenaline. Poisoned, Crippled and Diseased, it takes only so much damage before you go down. True, I would waste a disrupting arrow or two trying to kill your inevitable heal, but if it doesn't come, I'm still causing you damage.

At this point it comes down to the rest of your team since you just ran in hoping we wouldn't pick up on your 'trick'. Sometimes we don't have to be smart to do the right thing.

But from personal experience from using a mesmer to my warrior, I do better with my warrior. My warrior in LA arena can take out lots of enemies easily. Only time a ranger beat me in LA arena was when he was runign around like a coward using pin down and dodge for 30 minutes. I eventualy said I had better things to do, sat down and went to help my sister with my niese. I don't understand why rangers don't always bring throw dirt and or whirling defence.
I had a 66 win streak in shiverpeaks... i turned lvl 16... i was ranger and the other ranger in team turned 16 aswell and used those exact skills you listed.. do i know you
Btw the ranger recruited me in the arena around ten wins for his guild , and has a war for a main, sounds alot like you lol
nm i saw your profile it is you

Wa/Mo healing built.. in my eyes quite useless, 1 of my 4 characters is a Wa/Mo
I've tried the whole healing thing.. not gonna work.

You'll end up.. healing .. and healing.. and healing.. and healing.. and.. you won't be able to kill the opponents neways.
1 healing skill is enough like healing breeze I'd say.

DEFENITLY NOOOOOOT Healing signet, sure it heals nicely, is a signet so harder to interupt since most people don't bring interupts for signets, BUT the -40 armor while you're casting is suicide..

Wa/Mo with a smiting built.. now that's a whole different story.
and it's not as lame as the old I'm a fighter and I can heal.. I own all whoohoo.. =/

Any combination of classes is easy to beat. In my opinion, a War/Nec makes an infintely better tank than a War/Mo. Even though he can't heal anyone else, he'll keep his own ass alive, and will usually either tear apart any warrior that comes near him, or kill anyone who isn't an Mes/Monk. Curse you fast casting!

This is all true except for the last part. As you said, there are unskilled players. Guess what? Some of them come here to learn. =)
