You should try it again; unless they fixed it in a recent update (I admit, I haven't played my warrior in a few weeks) the speed buffs do/did increase your attack speed.

I do play a ranger, actually. He was my first character, and the one furthest ahead in the game. And I find that I can do more for the team when I'm defending the healers/supporting the warriors who run forward and get themselves into trouble. Traps are very nice, but it's not like you can run into a mob and put one there (unless they're all blind) because of that one line: "you are easily interrupted while performing this action".
In other words, let the tanks/healer attract the attention while you save people's asses. Support.

Um, no they don't. I've used them pretty much every time I've played in some form or another, and I can assure you, they DO NOT raise attack speed. I even went and tested it again. You're seeing things.

It also wasn't adjusted in any patch, as you can feel free to check any patch notes for any mention of those skills, and you won't find them. Speed buffs buffing attack speed would nullify the purpose of the attack speed buffs. Why the hell would Warriors ever use Frenzy if they could just use Sprint, then?

And as for interruption with Traps.....Three words. Mantra of Concentration.

Why bother bringing a bow to PvP just to finish off one last fleeing enemy? It seems really stupid to me, because:

(1) You can only bring two weapons on a PvP char, unless you put a PvE weapon in storage for PvP use. Rather than bring a bow for one very low-risk, super-specialized function, I as a Warrior would much rather bring a different kind of sword/axe/hammer to switch to in case my team needs to switch tactics (i.e. if I'm playing a Fire-based War/Elem, I might want to bring one sword with a Crippling hilt to hit an enemy with first so that they'll stay snared longer, then switch to my Fiery Sword and hit Conjure Flame for extra damage).

(2) No PvP warrior in their right mind enters PvP without one of the following:

(a) a snare move like Hamstring
(b) a speed boost like Sprint
(c) somebody else on your team who can snare if for whatever reason your skillset precludes bringing a snare or a speed boost

(3) Even if you don't have a speed boost (in which case you either have a snare or you're one really dumb Warrior), in such a situation where you're chasing down that one last guy, your team has already won anyway. All you have to do is cut them off with the help of your teammates, Hamstring/Axe Twist/whatever snare them once, and they're toast.

If for whatever ungodly reason you're the only guy left alive and you can't res, all you have to do is use your wits to trick the guy into a misstep (pretty easy if you have a lot of experience with chasing down that one last runner), and you can force them into a spot where they have to make an awkward turn so you can cut them off with your snare.

Besides, the last target left alive is usually a target of low threat like a Ranger or a Warrior, and if the last target left is a big threat like a spike Ele or a Mesmer or a Monk and you're the only one left to kill it, then your team didn't do its job right.

LOL Thats about the most newbish comment I've heard today.

Strength/Axe/Survival

Armor Penetration attacks + Poison + natural armor penetration from strength.

Too bad the W/R will outdamage you before you grind it down with your wamo or other choice of w/xx. and as far as other primary classes? Their armor is paper.
