Spellbreaker or hexbreaker off the top of my head, more assuming the monk isn't solo.

Lingering Curse

Strip your protections + halve your healing ability, and then block hex removal attempt + life steal 100 hp.

If the Necro can also get Malaise on there first, your really, really screwed. Because then you have a -2 energy degen, no enchantments whatsoever, and either a heal or hex remove will fail AND steal 100+ hp. Then you STILL have to remove Lingering Curse and Malaise, wasting more energy, while the -2 ticks away.

While your doing this the Necro will be hammering away with Shadow strike, Vampiric Gaze, or covering the hexes with spamable Parasitic Bond.

There's no way for the monk to prevent this either.
Actually there is. Why don't more primary monks run Hex Breaker?

According to my (admittedly outdated) Internet source, Lingering Curse says "half health from healing prayers." Is this a typo, or do you still get the full benefit from things like Aura of Restoration?

As the E/Mo build against Lingering Curse/Mark of Subversion, the best you can do is to recast Aura of Restoration as soon as the Curse hits, use Mend Ailment on yourself to soak the Mark of Subversion, and then start putting your enchantments back up, waiting on Ether Renewal to recharge.

Lingering Curse, if it works against all sources of healing (not just "Healing Prayers"), should be amazing ... why don't more people run it?

OK, I stand corrected. Both Hex-Breaker and Spellbreaker will prevent this. But.....there are drawbacks to both.

Spellbreaker is elite, and Hex-Breaker requires a mesmer not an Ele. And either spell woud have to be deployed before-hand.

Also, either spell would trigger when the first Malaise hits, so the necro would know not to continue the attack and waste energy. Malaise is only 5 energy.

And yes, the necro combination could be undone, but that takes time and energy. At the very least the monk would be out of play for several seconds.

Id take mesmer over ele any day just for hex breaker. You also get acess to the (totally otional) inspiration line.

It takes me a second or two to fix malaise by focus switching so my energy hits 0; congrats you just wasted 5 energy for nothing. Against people who don't know about focus switching it rocks; vs those who do it's terrible.

Mark of subversion sucks with the 20 second recharge time. I guess it wouldn't be terrible for arena where there is usually 1 monk but then again a lot of things work in arena and that's not really the point of this.

Lingering Curse is the only half decent spell you mentioned and it's really not that great due to elite/energy. It's good for a spike but the energy really makes it prohibitive to use often and when it's on someone that screams who you're going to hit more than rigor mortis.

Shadow Strike? Vampiric Gaze? Trash. Covering the Lingering with the parasitic bond isn't bad but like I said if someone has lingering on them there's no clearler sign that that person is who you are going to spike and even with -50% healing it's doubtful you will be able to get through the multiple enchants thrown on them fast enough. Of course you could use it for a nifty misdirection...

If you want anti-caster, go Mesmer/Nec with either lingering or rend and the rest mes stuff like diversion and interrupts. Necro has a few important skills but their good ones are few and far between.

Taking Mes over Ele solely for hex breaker is iffy. Ward against Melee and Ward against the Elements are two extremely good skills and imo belong on more or less every team build. Ward against Harm is solid as well if you don't have another elite. I'll take hex breaker if I'm going mes for energy regen but taking mes solely for hex breaker seems rather silly.

I agree /Ele for 8v8, but operating as the only monk in an arena team, hex Breaker > all.

Just wanted to thank those of you that took the time to post on this thread. This has been a very informative post and has inspired me to create a experimental build (expanding on the ideas here) which netted my team 13 wins in a row last night with about 8-9 in a row flawless. I'm very new to PvP (only had 750 faction going into last night) and I was very impressed how well my build did.

Thanks to you all.

Out of curiosity, what was that build you used? What energy management skills did you use, and how did they help you out? What strengths/weaknesses in your healing build did you notice?
