there is no "better"
only different.
better in specific circumstances
or for specific uses..... but no general, "better"

No, i would say that in arena it is possible to be 'better' since to cover all the bases you need a full range of support, and in the arena you dont get it. overall, i would say a ranger is better than a warrior. Personally, an interrupt ranger with throw dirt and a couple of stances would own casters, since hes an interrupter, and most warriors would have trouble against them since 1) their blind and 2) theyre getting interrupted all the time, whilst your doing fairly high dps if you can get tigers fury in there.

I'd say warrior.

W/R is a mean, mean build.

Just for kicks some time try this:
Apply Poison, Cyclone Axe, Dismember, Axe Rake.

It's funny.

Apply Poison is so weak... It is only mildly intresting if you hit 4+ characters.

To be honest, I've noticed in random it's by far better to be ranger. It's one of the reasons why I had a post stating that warriors were underpowered (Which I no longer believe). In random, you'll only get a monk 1 out of 4 matches, and VERY, VERY rarely does said monk carry remove conditions. Unless the said warrior is bringing his own form or remove conditions (Which is impossible for war/mes and war/ele, and very unlikely to find on a w/r), then you can literally find your team worn down by conditions of all things. If you think pin down or blind aren't devastating, your kidding yourself. A ranger can come in, toss pin down on one warrior and blind on another and you have NO idea how much that can cripple a 4 man team without remove conditions.
So in short, I'd say a damage ranger with pin down/throw dirt or a conditions ranger with a few interupts have the definite advantages in random. But come team pvp, gvg, or tombs, it's another story. When things start getting organized, the two classes will probably have entirely different jobs.

Funny, I've been playing a ranger trapper in the random arena of late (have earned approx 3500 faction over the last week). I've been finding myself on teams with monks very regularly, a lot more than 1 in 4, hell, one team last night was me, 2 monks and a necro. We did awesome till one of the monks left, then our teamwork suffered a little and got gacked.

I been in 4 tank team as R/W killing 1 monk or 2 monk teams till the 6th+ round when we met 2 mesmer 2 necro team~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

AS LONG AS U BRING REZ SIGNET! U dun need a monk in 4v4. But I admit that in a team with 2monks get me to 20+ wins more easily in random. I got to 10+ rounds wins with no monk b4.

I dont see the obsession with rangers in here. For organized play they are good but in the random arena i find myself using my warrior more often than not, and when im my warrior i havent ran into a ranger ive had a problem with in the random arenas.

A good ranger can put a lot of conditions to the enemy, making them easier to kill (a caster dazed, warriors crippled etc). In 1 vs one a ranger is not the best damge dealer or have the endurance to whistand for long but its teamplay not single play :P

what remove conditions ability does an elementalist have?

Everything in the game is situational but the two best teams I've been in have included rangers and 0 warriors.

26 win run
1x Ranger w/ poison- mass DOTs spreading enemy monk too thin.
1x Mesmer w/ fragility build
1x Prot monk
1x Healing monk

Ranger was poisoning every one and mesmer was taking people out in 6 seconds almost without fail. Us monks basically just kept each other alive and made good targets. We finally stopped after 2-3 hours when 2 of us had to take off.

_____
17 win run

2x Rangers w/ distracting shot and not sure what else
1x Prot/Smite Monk
1x Healing monk

This wasn't that long of a run but it was the most consecutive flawless wins in a row. 15 in a row after the first two matches. Ironically we lost to a fragility build who got a flawless off us.
