Default Illusionary Weaponry + Judge's Insight

Does the damage from these two stack? Just curious if anybody has tried this before I waste some refunds testing it...It looks to me that they would not stack as Illusionary states "you deal no damage from melee", but the vagueness of Judge's makes me wonder if this is possible.

Thanks in advance!

No, Illusionary Weaponry ignores armor, so armor penetration won't affect it.

Anybody else? I'm a firm believer that if you come up with a new idea in GW then somebody has tried it before....

But what about the increased holy damage from Judges?

You deal no damage in melee with IW, IW itself does Chaos Damage. You would still do 0 Holy Damage with 20% armor penetration and IW would inflict X chaos damage.

I doesnt stack because with IW all your attacks miss, so your holy sword never actualy hits anything..

another thread refutes that - the above suggests price of failure would kill you and empathy would have no effect, neither of which happen.

your melee dmg turns into a form of chaos attack
which empathy still works on

its a grey area.. dig in - your best bet is testing away

Empathy and Price of Failure (and similar spells) trigger when you attack not when you hit. So attacking while blinded and under empathy will still damage you, as will attacking with Illusionary Weaponry.

Last time I tested it, IW works just as stated above. You miss with every attack, instead doing an amount tied to Illusion Magic. You're still attacking, but you're not actually hitting. That doesn't contradict the spells you listed.

I'd recommend that the curious, as a rule, disbelive the stated skill descriptions, and instead go out and test the skills themselves to determine how they function. Time after time the descriptions are misleading or flat out wrong- in this case, someone didn't grasp how Empathy and the like work.

Price of Failure triggers when you miss

Then expect to take damage every time you attack with IW up.

Illusionary weaponry does not cause you to "miss"- it just replaces your attacks with it's own effects. Since you're not hitting or missing, effects that trigger on hits or misses don't effect you. You also deal no damage with attacks, so things that return damage don't work either- your attack doesn't deal damage, IW does. However, you are still attacking, so skills that trigger on attacks such as Spiteful Spirit, Empathy, Clumsiness, Ineptitude, etc will still trigger.

Thanks for clarifying Freyas, and again demonstrating the need for testing.
