Default Ok..time For The Uw Solo Ele Build!!

OK as you guys have seen i play elementalist almost exclusively. I have a monk i use for some stuff, but i started my journey in this world as an elementalist and i intend to accomplish everything every other class can do! I personally believe the elementalist to be one of the most fun classes to play because in one exp run, i can change my entire character.

Without further delay....the UW solo ele build.
**SKILL NEEDED**
(**warning** this is not a foolproof scheme but the only one i have been able to be successfull in the uw...my rate is about 80% success for a full run)

ELE/MONK
All 5 superior runes... 105 health
on occasion i will bring the quest item from cities of ascalon for the -50 health and then use a major rune..but thats personal preference)

ZEALOTS FIRE
BALTH AURA
ETHER RENEWAL
DIVINE BOON
PROECTION BOND
ESSENCE BOND
BALTH SPIRIT
HEALING BREEZE OR SYMBOL OF WRATH

I use 16 energy storage
i use 12 protect for the enchant
the rest in smiting ( i move smiting to 12 after i cast enchants)

When you cast enchant bond remember that you will have a -3 energy but will get back 2. This means every single attack will deal you -1 energy. This is why it is important to have 16 energy storage and a +12 icon. (i use smiting rod/monk icon) the amount of energy u have is the key obviously!
AFTER enchanting yourself, cast ether renewal and spam boon to get all your sps back!)

I can take 5 at a time now, but to start work with just 3 of the aataxes. The whole key to this build is ETHER RENEWAL. at 16 skill the energy you get back is 5 energy for each enchantment and 20 health per enchantment!!!. Every chance you get you have to cast this. The main spell i use to regen sps/health is divine boon since it costs 5 and has a 1 second recharge. Between the boon itself's healing and the +20 per enchant i can completely recharge myself before the 10 second time is up! As you see the ether renewal flashing that it is going to end, cast balth aura and hopefully u get it off..it depends on the breaks...regardless if you can cast it before the ether renewal runs out...you get back 16 energy. I normally cast 4-5 boons (which damage each time with zealots) and then cast balth aura.. that usually maxes out the 10 seconds lasting time of ether renewal. Throughout the fight if u need to heal just use divine boon and you should be fine. If you feel more comfortable using healing breeze throughout the fight to compensate for the bleeding you can do that too and just give up symbol of wrath.
Just remember..energy management is the key. Make sure u dont try and use balth aura till the last cast of ether renewal and to always have it on. It does take longer than the monk build but of course this is just intended on making my character more fun and more capable of doing anything!!

Let me know what you think. Remember it IS NOT as good as the monk build. I just like to use the character i have and try and do as much as i can with it. I think it makes me a better player

It's a decent build. I agree that an Ele solo build has to rely on ER to get some energy back. However, I should note that w/ a casting time of 1 second, it can still be interrupted. I would consider throwing in a Whirlwind in place of breeze or wrath, to knock down attacking foes, and then quickly cast the ER to ensure no interrruption.

boon is an enchantment indeed, with a -1 energy maintenance. The idea, though, is to use it as your quickie, uninterruptable, spammable, self healing spell. it works well in conjunction w/ ER.

i talked to some ele today that said she could solo uw better that she could with her 105 monk using a build involving no elites. That was my only "clue"

This is the same as a Mo/X build with energy storage.

But whatever.

nice build, but it may as well be a monk, faster and easier that way. i've found its alot more interesting to try to do it using more ele skills that compliment the 3 monk ones i like. granted i havent gotten it down to cookie cutter perfect so every tom dick and sandy can copy it from a forum, but 50/50 isnt that bad of odds when your having fun with it. the whole pro bond balth's spirit thing has just gotten stale and boring.

14 ES is enough for a maxed out energy gain from Ether. I normally run 10 for PvE, because neither do I need the extra health for anything nor is there any point whatsoever in having more than full energy.

Either the protbond setup with Vital Blessing or Glyph of Lesser Energy (stupid skillslot limit -_-), or just toss the whole protbond idea and go with Prot Spirit, 105 HP (instead of 700 with VB) and a Glyph of Concentration. That leaves more skillslots to monkey around with later on, but its a bit more annoying than the Protbond version.

Anyway, started doing this 3 months ago or so. Can we stop with the FOTW threads? Its unexciting enough running into one of these dudes touting their unique awesomeness every 2 minutes ingame.

Default OK here is what I do

I have this down, and it only takes me about 25-30 minutes to clear all the smites. I do it consistently and the only time I die is if I get bored/distracted and misclick.

First I want to credit the core of this build to Tevash Szat whose idea it was initally (at least so far as I know) and to Dazzler for modifications/suggestions. If I've left anyone out I apologize.

What i use is this:

Mending
Balthazar's Aura
Balthazar's Fire
Protecitve Spirit
Divine Boon
Zealot's Fire
Ether Renewal
Glyph of concentration

Intially, Healing prayers are at 7 (minimum for mending to be at +3). I cast mending then buy it down to 2 so I can buy smiting and protection up to 12 and 9 respectively. The rest is in energy storage (I forget how much off the top of my head, but I'm using the energy stroge headpiece with sup rune of course). Don't worry about refunds, you'll get them back very quickly once you get the hang of it. For first timers, don't do the buy down, you'll still be fine it'll just take you a little longer to kill.

I use the -50 offhand from cities of ascalon quest, and of course 5 sup runes. I also have a sword with + enchant grip which comes in handy. Note that I never actually hit anything with it

With this build you can only safely take on 2 ataaxes at one time, although I'll draw 3 and position myself so only 2 can attack to save time (usually the third is taking damge). They go down on the third casting of Ether renewal.

The really tricky part is the graspings. First, you can only take one group at a time. The trick here is to switch out gear. Put your regular armor back on, equip that hale staff of fortitude, and don't worry about casting prot spirit. Cast zealots fire, then glyph of concentration, then aggro them. After they are all around you, cast ether renewal and spam divine boon until you see renewal start to fade. At that point you cast glyph again. It may get interrupted but thats ok it will never get interrupted more than twice so far as ive found. Once glyph is up, cast balthazaars aura and then spam divine boon till they die. Sometimes one seems to have higher armor than the others and will outlast it by just a little bit, on which case finish off with your staff.

Anyway, this DOES work well with practice, and thanks again to all those who contributed to the inital formulation of this build.

Protective Bond is a horrible choice for this build. With 3-5 smites hitting you at once, you cannot outlast the recast of the spell Ether Renewal. Not only that, but you're VERY likely to get interrupted and die.

I tried this E/Mo thing, I didn't like it too much, so I made a monk. 4 days later I was in the underworld and extremely glad I chose the path I did (no help from human players at all during my monk time, thanks). I can solo parts of underworld as well as fissure (till I get to groups of 3+ mesmers. 2 or less I can handle).

I know someone who's extremely adept with the E/Mo build, but if he gets interrupted even once he's dead. With a monk it's fairly simple to just sit back and let nature run its course.

I would only use something like an E/Mo for solo if it were for fun or challenge. Timewise, it's extremely inefficient.

It goes quick with the build I use. It all comes down to the careful application of the glyph (see post #12). I've done duo runs with several smiters and I can tell you that this build is comparably fast. The really good monk smiters will be a bit faster, but I like my ele and I want him to have all that experience (he's racke dup about 30 skill points so far). Plus I dont feel like making a monk just to do this.
