Default Are there secret builds/strategies in GW? :P

I think there isnt really any secret builds and strategies that are unique in GW. I wish there is because I would be quite interested in thinking up some unique and fun builds that I can share with my guild members. Of course, this goes the same for everyone.

For example, are the ones that came up with the Fragility+Virulence build. If builds are able to be kept more secretive, Im sure they will give their guilds a better advantage. But then again knowledge is best to be shared around in most situations. But it would be fun if guilds can compete with one another using their own secret builds.

It will only stay a secret build until you go PvP with it a few times. It's not hard to watch what ppl are using when you have them targeted.

So how do expect something to stay secret?

Since this smiting monk rage happened and people started calling for nerf's, I started thinking.

When the dev's come up with the skills, did they already have this build in mind?
It would be funny if all these builds people are coming up with and evolving were already planned and the dev's are just sitting back watching and waiting, lauging at how long it took for people to find it then spread the news.

My thoughts exactly. The game is about experience pretty much - get beaten hard by something, learn from it - either steal the build or modify something as a counter

I don't understand what this topic is about.
Are you asking for people to share a secret with everyone on a popular forum?
Or are you trying to discuss the difficulty in keeping something secret?
Or maybe you're asking how long it takes before something "secret" becomes public knowledge.

The topic isn't clear- if you want to start a discussion you really need to outline what it's about more clearly. Otherwise you end up with worthless speculation like you currently see.

Maybe the OP is looking for people to speculate?

Its pretty clear to me that the poster is asking if people think there are "secret" builds, and in his first sentence posits his feelings that there are not.

He then goes on to come up with a few ideas and even an example. Its also clear to me that English may either not be his first language, or that grammar isn't a strong suit, but hey, its the Internet, right?

Maybe you shouldn't be so damn critical all the time, its a trend I see in many of your posts. Ya know, lighten up?

I'm a critical person. I value critical thinking and clear reasoning.
I'm also a mod for this site- I've elected to help keep the content of the site high- rarely an easy task.

Maybe you should stop before you openly criticize a mod next time. Ya know, if you have a problem send a PM instead of trying to score points by taking on a mod?

You may be right about one thing: English probably isn't his first language. But we have standards on our site that we choose to enforce.
Specifically:

Completely illegible posts are subject to moderation - and I can't guarantee their accuracy of 'translating' the authors original message, if you get my drift. When one punctuation works (like a ?) instead of 10 (like ?!?!), use one.
We're not ok with chat speak here. When we start asking you for input on our rules we'll be sure to inform you. The fact that he's posting "on the Internet" is not an excuse to type poorly, and your dismissive attitude helps the language disintegrate faster.
If a non-native English speaker posts on our site I'm sure he's acutely aware of the language difference. He also has few good examples to work from as people are inclined to post nonsense and not bother to do the most rudimentary proofreading before they post. If he puts up a post that is hard to understand, and we don't say or do anything, he'll walk away with the wrong impression that nothing is wrong with his use of the language. Which helps him more? A reply with worse spelling, punctuation, diction, and syntax, or a critical reply aimed at improving the clarity of his writing so he can get a better answer to his original question?

Look, I'm not trying to be a jerk about this. If I was, I'd delete the thread without an explanation or I'd allow it to disintegrate into flames. If I thought the topic itself was worthless I delete it; as I do many other threads on a daily basis. Instead I suggested how the OP could improve his topic to get better feedback. If that's being critical, label me a critic.

.......just an ease to the tension......... Breathe in....Breathe out

I do not think it is critical to ask a person to better word their questions. How can anyone expect help, if they can not clearly get across to readers what it is they are needing.
But, I will say that I believe he may be in a younger age group then most that post here.

I heard there's this skill called Energy Drain that's pretty good, but I could be wrong. I doubt anyone uses it, maybe you could make a build that had multiple copies with Quickening Zephyr for intense energy denial? Maybe? But don't tell anyone about it.

I've been trying a "new" build, but it is by no means a secret. It combines Battle Rage and "For Great Justice!" to build up multiple Disrupting Chops. It probably won't be too successful, but I'm fooling around with it. It seems like I might be able to disable the majority of an enemy's skills. If not, whatever. I tried something new. ^_^

Any random build could be a secret so are you only referring to builds/strategies that are powerful?

energy drain is useful but in the mesmer bar there are so many better elites. I suppose it really depends on what you are build is targeting to acieve. If your on an energy denial build, sure energy drain would work well (hope its not a tombs builds though )

Echo
Energy Drain
Mantra of Recovery (meh with qz abundant)
Power Block

I don't play mes but none of the others seem to stand out.

In most builds requiring a mes elite it's prolly going to be one of the first two.

Mantra of Recovery is just used for a cute little unique trick
Echo is awesome but has little use on a Mesmer.
Power Block is 15 energy...that blows if you're trying to keep it available to use on command, plus it can fail.

Drain For the Win!

Unless you want to be a cool Fiery Dragon Sword user, then its Illusionary Weaponry...
