Default vampric string.

ok I currently brought a 5/1 vampric string for my max dmg shortbow with 15% dmg while stance.

In my opinion, it suxed so bad in pvp. i don even steal any hp, instead the deg is killing badly.

So I'm deciding on getting a new string, I heard sundering string sux tho. So wut string u guys recommand. My pvp build is a interupter.

Are you sure? What skills are you using with it? Do you have another bow to switch to that isn't vampiric? I ask, because I have a 5:1 Vampiric Bow String and with the 3 main skills I use in PvP, I can steal up to 20 health from someone.

I have it on a Half Moon Bow and I use Precision Shot, Dual Shot, and Penetrating Attack. The other Marksmanship skills don't matter to be honest, as they can be replaced with any single attack skill, but Dual Shot helps a bit with the build I use. You can steal 10 life from someone if the arrows hit.

I noticed you said you're using a build to disrupt. I'd definitely recommend adding in Tiger's Fury if you can fit it in your build. The extra speed will definitely increase the life stealing capabilities of your bow.

These are just examples from my experience, however one thing is certain: always bring a bow that doesn't have a vampiric string on it so you can switch between them. What I like to do is go in with a Flatbow and then once I set my eyes on someone, I switch to the vampiric bow and proceed to attack up close. If I notice I'm losing too much health, I switch back to my previous bow.

IMO I think these are one of the better bow strings out there.

I'll take that string off your hands.

Firstly - you don't tend to gain life with a vampiric weapon - at least, not huge amounts. With Tiger's fury on and a fast bow you get 5 life every 1.333 seconds, so you gain .87 pips roughly, while firing continually - if you use quickshot in there you bump it up higher. That's not going to keep you alive, but it is adding 3.75 or so to your DPS - that's extra damage on your enemy - you may only be getting a little less than a pip but you are adding almost 2 pips worth of damage to your foe - use dual shot and stuff and you up it even more - that's the strength of the vampiric string - not a health recovery method for you, but 5 extra damage that armour doesn't reduce every shot.

Secondly - you should carry two weapons, so you can switch off the vampiric sting to another weapon when not firing.

Zealous string. Interruptors should use a Zealous string. You aren't there to do damage as an interruptor, you are there to use skills to keep others from using skills. Your use of skills requires energy, so you want Zealous.

the problem of vampric string is that while i'm constantly shooting at my oppoent, my hp doesn't regen to max instead, it remains the same as after i was attacked. and switching weapon for prevent the hp deg is really annoying.

* i don use druid set, so i don got much energy

Yes, read and understand this analysis very, very carefully. Most people buy vampiric because it sounds cool and is extremely useful for healing in other games, and then decide it is useless in GW because the stolen life barely keeps pace with the degeneration. So they go for some useless mod like sundering. In reality, the reason to use vampiric is for the excellent extra armor ignoring damage it deals, not the life it gives you. Having a vampiric sword hilt (3:1) is like having 10 perfect sundering sword hilts combined, for example.

the only thing that saves vampiric bows is the 'winnowing' effect it gives. (5 damage a hit)

although personally i would never go near one, (i use a zealous string), it has its uses, and im pretty sure you can do quite nicely (at least as far as regening is concerned) with barrage and TF, although im not sure its a good build =/

however if you ever bring one, always bring a backup; i just love those people who sit in the useless pause between fights with it on.

Those are pretty much your only options besides using elemental strings for specialty builds (don't use them just because, phys damage is better for many reasons, esp if you have a nec on your team).

With both zealous and vamp, you haveta switch bows alot, so you'd better get used to it if you wanna play a ranger.

I recommend that you stop being a scrub and use the good items. You came here, asked for good advice, and, what, are now asking what to do if you don't want to follow the good advice?

Fine, so here's some bad advice:

Get a Sundering Stormbow of Marksmanship. It's totally sweet man.

Peace,
-CxE

Maybe not strictly the worst combo, but it is an insanely popular combo that is both expensive and truly wretched. Believable advise, too.

Peace,
