Ah, I think I understand the point: with low Healing Prayers and relatively high Divine Favour, having 105 HP ensures that you'll get healed to your full health no matter how measly a healing spell you cast?

battosai's post actually pertains to all farming areas. if you continuously farm them, their drops lower substantially. try switching up your areas.

Since this is a relatively active thread on uw farming, I need some advice. As mentioned previously (in page 2 of this thread), I had trouble getting past the bulls as a solo monk in uw. W/ enough practice (and following the advice of using Bonetti and then cast Bal Aura), I managed to clear the bulls a-ok. But now, I'm having trouble w/ the squids. They keep distracting me when I tried to get Bal Aura going. And I end up dying b/c I have no energy to heal myself.

So here's the question: when I fight the squids, do I forgoe the Aura and just spam the Divine Boon-Zealot Fire combo? Or should I cast Aura BEFORE the squids reach me?

btw, my skill bar is: Bonetti, Bal Aura/Spirit, Essence/Pro Bond, Divine Boon, Blessed Signet, zealot fire.

Thx in advance for your help!

My Build
M/R
Greater Conflag
Storm Chaser
Essense Bond
Prot Bond
Bathazars Spirit
Mending
Divine Boon
Bathazars Aura

With This Build i am gaining plenty of energy all the time, because of Greater Conflag +storm i usually gain about 3-5 energy a hit (depending on how much i wanna put in Wilderness survival) Only Bad Thing Can happen is if something kills your greater conflag.. then your kinda in trouble...

I have tried bonnetis when I was testing my build when I came up with the idea of the invincimonk, yet the problem with using bonnetis, is the fact that it takes up a slot in your skill place, and your using 2x energy regens. And if you took out blessed signet, then you are limited to using a mo/w and I personally think bonnetis defeats the purpose of having the +1 energy each time your hit. Also bonneti's is horrible for pvp. My build gives the flexibility of using any elite from any class [by taking out SoJ] and you can use it very well. One of my personal favorites is illusionary weaponary and any other illusion magic I see fit. It deals good damage to everything in UW and it is truly fun for pvp. Only problem is deadly riposite pisses you off ^-^. If you see dryders build, it looks very good and cleaver. Xomas' build is horrible because it relies on FIRE damage from zealots to do damage. Not very good and it is a waste. So practically, if you want to do UW quick, fast and easily, same with pvp, dont use boon, zealots and bonnetis, symbol of wrath, any smite attacks [smite, holy strike etc.] or use any non-spell/signet skills. they dont deal enough damage and they really suck. try my build or even make one up on your own.

killer, try IW, yet beware of the extra damage from the ripostes.

But the 2nd effect of Aura of the Lich makes it 1 damage. Then if you have Deep Wound on you, your take ZERO damage, thats right, 0. This means that you can focus all on attacking and not defence which is a major benefit! Hope you liked my guide.
I was playing with something similar to this. I was using a death penalty (or 2) with the -50 focus from "Cities of Ascalon" and with a shield that gave -2 damage while in stance.

I would get my life down to 1 with the death penalty, through up my prot bond + the other 2. But I would still take 1 damage. With prot bond I would take a max of 1, but I figured the -2 dmg shield would take care of the rest, yet I so far could not remove that last 1 point of damage.

I realize my theory could be horribly flawed, and would like to here if it is. Obviously it didn't work, I'm just not sure why. I was certain the shield would soak up the remaining damage for me.

damage reduce from shield is applied before prot bond.

with the cities of ascalon focus, your hp is going to be 27, and you will take 0 damage no matter what. Yet, I am assuming that you are not using 2 OF THE SAME SUPERIOR RUNES on your monk, meaning you have 75 more hp than you should. I know it works, and I did it yesterday in the Team Arena

Oh, it dawned on my that the shield was applied before the prot bond, just hadn't gotten here to edit my post yet.

No, I am using 2 OF THE SAME SUPERIOR RUNES on my monk. I was not using "Aura of the Lich" in my testing, I was looking for a way to simulate it via other methods. So my health isn't going to be at 27. I can get it to 1 with a death penalty and the -50hp focus, or 33 without the focus. so at 1 hp, I should only be taking .05 dmg. Why is that being rounded up to 1? With "Aura of the Lich" it is rounding 1/2 of 1 down to 0. It's not consistant.

Things do not round like you think they would in Guild Wars. If they did you would never get a 1 energy protective bond.

No kidding.
5% of 105hp = 5.25hp/dmg which is rounded to 5
5% of 55hp = 2.75hp/dmg which is rounded to 2
half of 1 dmg = .5 dmg which is rounded to 0 (the "Aura of the Lich" scenario)
5% of 1hp = .05hp/dmg which is rounded to 1?!?!?

I would have never expected that.

The 1 energy prot bond is in my favor, so I'm cool with that.

Are there any wands/rods that give -hp?

I can personally say that he was the first one I've ever seen run this build well over 2 1/2+ months ago in a random PUG for UW. I saw this in action a while before the Jelly post and I was blown away. If he wasn't the first, he was one of the first 2 or 3 guaranteed, I thought it was some kind of hack or mod but now everyone sees how clever it is. That same night I started my own Mo/Ne build and once the specifics were revealed I had a lvl20 waiting to go.

As far as I'm concerned he was the first, because I saw it before there was even a rumor of this happening.

There were a bunch of people in my guild alone, myself included, who were running this during the time frame you mention. Based on statistical probability alone, I'd hardly assume that we were unique in that respect. Why anyone else would is beyond me.

It's amusing in exactly the same sense as Quayle claiming he invented the internet, and about as accurate.

Hmm...Too bad the new update made it so that you cant take attribute points out outside of town...Thanks for making them nerf that...

Actually, I believe it's Al Gore who said that. Wrong VP.
