Default Me/E or E/Me IW question

I'm posting this to see if anyone has tested it.

What happens when you use Mist Form with IW? Do you still do damage with IW, or does Mist Form cancel it out aswell? Obviously this would need to be done by stealing a fellow Hydro's Elite.

Why bother as mark of protection makes you immune to most spell sources in addition to physical and not hamstring your basic attack output. Not that it matters to a ele, who typically uses spells as a primary offense instead of trying to imitate a warrior.

The only way to use mark of prot with an E/Me or Me/E would be to have 3 professions, because in case you didn't notice, there's no "monk" in there. The original poster only wanted an answer to his/her question, there's no need to be rude.

After reading the skill description for Mist Form, I'm inclined to say yes, it does take away the damage from IW, although I can't know that unless I test it. It reads:

Mist Form {Elite} - Enchantment Spell
For 8-18 seconds, you cannot take or deal damage from attacks.

Perhaps since IW is an enchantment, and it would be the enchantment dealing the damage, not your weapon, it would work, but I see problems with getting 2 elites onto your toolbar in the first place. If you can figure out a way to do it and test it, please let me know the result .

my guess is that mist form cancels the damage? i mean why wouldnt it? if i used meteor shower and put on mistform i would do 0 damage. of *you* see the numbers, *you* do the damage, and mistform cancels *your* damage.

but i havent actually tried this

That wasn't rude, it was factual. Also he needed another player anyway, so why not use a more useful eliete.

the easiest way to do this is with Arcane mimicry. Just let another mesmer have IW or another ele have Mist form. My advice would be the latter, because getting no damage from attacks is an extra, doing no damage makes you useless for 40 seconds(Although I dont think its an effective strategy in either cases), to test it though, you could probably have more succes by copying IW because you would probably die less often.

I would think IW has the same effect as MF, you dont do any damage with normal attacks anymore, its not allowed by neither skills. MF will negate the dmg that IW has replaced with chaos damage, so still doing damage in mellee. You need to test it to make sure though, because at first I thought that because you dont get hit when your in MF, you can lay traps and such without being distracted by normal attack... wich is not the case...

Arcane Mimicry and a Hydro Ele as your partner.

Because it had nothing to do with what I was asking. If I had asked "Hey what would be a good spell for me to use with IW and Arcane Conundrum to make a good build?" then what you said would have been fine. But since I didnt ask that, all you did was state something I didnt care at all about.

IW damage isn't attack damage, so I'd guess that it works just fine while Mist Formed. But I wouldn't trust me on this, either. Definitely something to try out.

I just tried it (took me forever to find an ele in Deldrimor War Camp, I even had some guy say "Fionna is exploiting")

Illusionary Weaponry does work while Mistform'd.

The skill you think of is Arcane Mimicry. For the next 20 seconds, Arcane Mimicry becomes the elite spell from target other ally.

mist form

For 8-18 seconds, you cannot take or deal damage from attacks.

damages from attack: melee (blunt, slashing, weapons), wands/staff (Chaos, Cold, dark, fire, earth, lightning), bow attack (piercing, w/e)

IW - melee = 0 but Deals Chaos Damage.

Illusionary Weaponry (availability)
Description: For 30 seconds, you deal no damage in melee, but whenever you attack in melee, target foe takes 8-34 chaos damage.

attack in melee deals no physical but chaos dmg.

try to test if a chaos dmg staff deals dmg to you while on Mistform. If it does not and IW does, is it safe to tell that it is bugged?

straight from the games skill listing:

there are no skills that deal chaos damage, it's a weapon damage type on staves/canes whatever.

doh thanks for pointing that out .

Mist Form {Elite} - Enchantment Spell
For 8-18 seconds, you cannot take or deal damage from attacks.

illusionary weaponry deals no melee dmg but dmg (what kind?) when you attack. mistform will prevent you from taking damage from attacks.

still confusing but whatever.

They removed the "Chaos Damage" from IW, which is really REALLY stupid in my opinion. But the reason they did it is because IW's damage ignores armor, so everyone stupidly thought Chaos Damage ignored armor.

The damage that IW does is basically just "Armor Ignoring Damage"
