Default higher attributes or more life?

Some of you were kind enough to give some feedback on a pve build I'm working on. I think I've settled on my skills, and have designed a melee range aoe elementalist. I plan on using about 6 (+ or -) earth skills, and 2 (+ or -) fire skills. I plan on putting attribute points as follows:
earth magic 11
fire magic 10
energy storage 10

My question is what runes to use with this. My concern is that being in melee range I will need life (although I will be using eruption to blind enemies and kinetic armor for defense). Thus, I plan to use a minor energy storage rune to avoid - hp. However, for the other 2, where my damage will be coming from, is it worth taking health penalties for better damage? I'm thinking a major fire to bump that to 12. Is that reasonable, or should I aim for the extra 1 point? For the earth, I don't know whether to do a minor to get to 12, or a major or sup. to get even higher. Basically, I guess I'm wondering in your experinece, is an extra attribute point in either of these situations (going to 13 or 14) worth 50 or 75 hp, respectively?

Thanks in advance for the help.

well I think if you could go for
Earthmagic: 16
Energy: 15

(dont go for 2elements, too few attributes)
then you cast like:
*Armor of Earth
*Kinetik Armor
*Aura of Restoration
*Earth Attunement
*Ether Renewal
*Stoning
*Crystal Wave
*Daggers

Thats a build I made up with my Ele, it works for PvE as for PvP, just make sure in PvE that you dont get to monsters where they strip your enchants.

Thanks for the response, but I'm not looking for build advice (hence why I didn't include my skills). I'm just talking strategy-wise... since I'm gonna be up close to enemies, what are opinions of the weight of major or sup. runes vs. hp. Specifically, what's the difference between levels 12, 13, etc. on an attribute (not generally, I know how the game works) and losing 50/75 hp. Can I afford 1 sup., a sup and a major, 2 majors, etc.?

Earth and fire sounds cool. But anyway, I think superior is always better than major, for one. Think about it - compared to a minor rune, a major rune gives you +1 attribute for 50 health, and superior gives +2 attributes for 75 health, or in other words, 37.5 health per attribute. Technically you get a better deal from superior runes than major.

As to wether or not you should use them? Personally, as an armored, damage-dealing elementalist, I would use one superior. Kintetic Armor, assuming it gives +40 armor, halves most the damage you take. That's the equivalent of doubling your max HP and doubling the effeciency of heals on you (assuming you're getting hit by attacks which are reduced from your armor, of course). Soooo, max health isn't quite as necessary as it would be on a caster who has no real armor or defense. Getting your attribute to 15 or 16 makes a very noticable difference in damage, too, of course. That's what I would do.

Thanks, this is exaclty what I was looking for. Also, cued by my noticing the new update downloading when I signed on earlier, I looked up the changes on the official guild wars website. I was pleased to find that they boosted kinetic armor to 20-80 AL gain..... so with that, problem solved. Tanking ele, here I come!
