Default Need a little advice

Hey all, I have been reading the forums for a bit now, and I still need a little help/advice.

I've been playing GW for about 1month and a half now straight...I'm addicted to it, i love the game. I have three characters set up already. I read somewhere that you should keep a slot open for a pvp character. I followed that advice and created 3 characters, each character having a secondary profession that i haven't used yet so that there is no redundancy.

In other words. I have three characters. W/Mo, N/Me, and a R/El. Now that means i have all six professions working, so that I when I decide on a fourth character (pvp) I can test all of the different builds out there. I'm just wondering if that is a good Idea. Is it?

PVE is fun, But, I also know that within the PVE game, you can also PVP. Now, knowing that, what is the major difference between creating PVP character vs. just using that last slot on another PVE character in which I can build my "perfect" character?

In other words, with my fourth slot should I just keep it open for the purposes of creating and testing different builds? Or use it on a "perfect" PVE character.

By the way, what I mean when I say "perfect", it's just my way of saying creating the character that I feel suits the way i like to play.

So far though, i must say that my least favorite character slot is the Ne/Me..but they look the coolest. Next to Warriors that is.

I'm thinking of using that last slot on a Monk/??

It's too bad that GW didnt come with six different slots. So that you could create one character of each different profession.

Any advice for this semi-noob?

the main advantage to having a PvP slot, IMO is oce you've gained decent skills, you can get a lotta faction and see the advantages of all the different upgrades/skills/runes without having to spend a ton of money in PvE just to find out you don't think its that useful anymore....

The reason to keep it like you do is that you can do any combo.

My faction farming classes for random arenas is N/Mo, with a PvP slot I can play that combo and then go to Tombs and join one of the blasted IWAY group and play a W/R. Then I can go to guild match and make a Mes/Nec and so on.

You never know what combination you want to play in PvP, if you leave the slot as a pvp slot you can try them all.

I'd suggest start playing a bit in Random arenas. It's fun and fast and you get a feel for some classes. When you see someone playing a combo that's kicking butt try it out.

The biggest advantage to the pvp slot is the runes, imo. Get those unlocked and you can instantly roll a character of any class combination with your sup runes free of charge, as opposed to 100 plat for sup vigor (or whatever insane price it's at lately) or sup absorb. No need to worry about finding it, and if you want to change into something different, 2 minutes later it's done.

Wait, I thought that stuff (weapon upgrades, spells, skills, runes) could not be transferred to your pve characters from pvp, and vice versa. Can you?

You can transfer items items from your PvE character to your PvP character but there usually is no point. What you want to be doing is trying to unlock the runes on your account so that when you make a new PvP character you can use any of the unlocked runes for the PvP character. You can unlock runes (and weapons and skills) by buying them with faction (which you earn through PvP) or learning the skill or identifying the weapon mod/rune on your PvE character.

If you're not sure what I mean just go to the PvP character creation screen. You will notice that all the skills that are unlocked are available for use and the same goes for runes and weapon mods. Everytime you unlock something it is now available for any PvP character you ever make.

Ok, i get it now...thanks. I guess that I'll leave that fourth character slot empty for the creation of PVP characters.
