Default my reply

I'm an American who lives in Seoul. So I play GW on the Korean server. The GW players here use various voice chat programs, but the one that my guild uses is GWGV (guild wars game voice). We always use it in GvG or when playing in the Tombs. I rarely use it in the arenas. Most players that want to play together either goto the team arenas or they count down to clicking the join mission button in the competition arenas. Here in Korea there are a lot of game rooms, they are called "PC rooms" and they are a dime a dozen here. The Koreans seem very well organized here. For example getting a team together for a Tomb run is a very long time enduring thing, it takes some teams about 30 mins to get ready for play, because they are discussing the best team build, changing their skills in and out and so on. As for the hacking, I haven't seen any proof of that, other than the fact that we are better organized and better players. I see the complaints from the American and European players a lot. when they are losing they start name calling and calling us Hackers. I would like to address another thing that I have noticed from the American and European players, which I hate the most, Is all of the Racist words and slurs they are saying or the name calling. I'm not saying everyone from the American or European servers are racist ,but they have a lot of Immature players there. And if I knew that anet would do anything about it , I would send all the screenshots of all the players saying the racial slurs in, so that they could get punished for it. I know some people would just say ,turn off your local chat,if you don't want to see that . Well I'm not going to go change my chat everytime I want to go do pvp and then turn it back on. I think people should have the maturity level not to say anything like that.if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.just say "gg" and go on and try again. Don't hate the Korean players because they "Out Play" you.

Simple Fact Is: Koreans by Stereotype, are MMO Addicts.

You hear on the news everyday about people stabbing each other and such over gold in a game like Lineage 2. Like that 1 guy few months ago that commited suicide because someone scammed him outta an uber weapon of some sort.

Like the above poster mentioned - Gaming on an MMO scale is much more hardcore and organized. You say Korea only has 62 or so ranked guilds...But Numbers can be decieving. I'd bet all my Plat that MOST of those 62 guilds are in the top 100 guilds. 2 of the top 3 guilds are Korean ATM...So what if America has top percentage of guilds.

Its like taking 999 High Schoolers from America and having them play chess against Vladimir Kramnik or another Russian superstar chess player. Sure some of the Americans will have skill, and get wins, but its obvious who controls the game.

Same with MMOs - sure America can overpower Korea and keep favor in larger amounts - We have sheer number advantages, and some guilds have skill, but it doesn't change the point that their top guilds could probably run circles around 80% of ours.

Thats alot of rash generalizations (All Koreans that play Guild Wars are this Stereotype, Americans tend to outnumber other countries on games, Americans tend to be a stupider or atleast more immature population, etc), but it doesn't change any facts.

This defeats the whole purpose of playing with random people against random opponents. IF they want to play together they should start a group in ta or tombs and not "cheat" to get together and go against random American noob teams with a perfectly balanced group. We dont have the option to do this so why should anyone else? Ive never encountered a Korean team in comp arena that does not have a monk, shutdown mes, damamge warrior, and whatever else, while my team will have 2 war/mo's with swords and knights armour or whatever. Alot of the times they even have the comp arena dominating 1 prot, 1 heal monk.

This is not about anyone outplaying anyone. If I have a balanced team also, 9/10 times Ill win against the Koreans, or whoever else for that matter in ta or tombs.

I agree with you about the racial remarks though, they have to stop. I hear the tone of voice that people use against the Koreans and it sounds similar to the tone used against an iway team. In some ways its complimenting as it acknowledges that in general they are good players, but most of the time theres negativity attached to it.

Here are the numbers:

Korea currently has 22 guilds in the top 100 (including smurfs)
America has 43
Europe has 35

So basically Korea makes up 6.2% of the entire ladder but it makes up 22% of the top 100 teams. So yes, koreans in general are better players then europeans and americans.

Or... all the bad Koreans quit playing by now. We don't really know, there's no point in speculating.

Most Americans Have at own at least one computer and have internet access(America is the #1(or 2,3) with the highest percentage of families/individuals that own a computer). In Korea the percentage of families/individuals that own a computer is much lower. Therefore most use to PC Rooms and spend most of thier time there surfing the internet, playing games, etc. So theyre not purposely meeting in PC Rooms for better organization in games.

Btw there are serveral krn PC Rooms in America.

But here's another caveat regarding that: while they may not be thinking "Oh, hey, let's all play in this one room so we can trounce on anyone and everyone in the random arenas," they're all still playing in the same room, and while still playing in the same room, they're coordinating entering the arena.

To me, the very fact they're "counting down" like you said indicates a clearly defined and almost premeditated idea/goal, with a very clear thought process going on.

I don't really care either way, because I don't play CA too often (though I did face a Korean team last night, so I've seen it happen and I think the entire thing is just too bizarre), but I just thought it would be wise to point that out.

I mean, I suppose what I'm saying is that...you can say it's all just basically one huge coincidence, but from what you've said here, it doesn't seem all that coincidental.

I am not sure why people are making such a big deal with Koreans in CA. I had a similar experience as ShadowVoid yesterday. I went against these 'balanced' Korean teams in CA and lost 1 but won 2. Our lost was merely that our team was disorganized from the get go. We werent focusing fire or targeting soft targets first. The second time and third time around we exhibited some sort of organizations. They went down fast. On the Crag map our team went flawless against them.

They are good but nothing i havent seen from the American or European already. Anyways, it is nice to see someone playing from Korea in there.

Well I think this thread has run its course for now and anything we add really is speculation at this point.
