Default Quiet's 8v8 Blackout Build

ok well i just thought up a build a decided to post it for you guys. My current guild doesnt have the resources to pull it off, so you guys might as well enjoy it. the build is untested and could therefore be complete crap, but i think it could work very nicely and can cope with a lot of things. here we go:

2x E/Me air spikers

-11 energy storage (+1 rune)
-16 air magic (+1 hat +3 rune)
-8 inspiration

-arcane echo
-lightning orb
-lightning strike
-drain enchantment
-mantra of resolve
-air attunement
-elemental attunement [E]
-ressurection signet

These two are pretty much your sole source of damage, and are pretty effective at it, combining damage with a little utility and interrupt defense.
You would do well taking an enchantment modded staff here to lengthen your dual attunements.

3x Me/W blackout mesmers

-7 fast casting (+1 rune)
-15 domination (+1 hat +2 rune)
-11 swordsmanship

-echo [E]
-blackout
-shame
-guilt
-hamstring
-distracting blow
-free slot (wastrels worry, wild blow, and savage slash are some choices)
-ressurection signet

These three are the most important and tricky part of the build to run. Basically, they must be able to do two things; cast and maintain blackout on one target, and hinder the target so that it cannot get out of blackout range or evade the spikers' lightning orbs. I realive that i couldve used an r/me or me/r for this, but i think that the me/w's are the most straightforward, simple, and effective at this job.
Okay, so what needs to happen is that each blackout mesmer calls a separate target (monks first, then mesmers, and so on) and proceeds to attack them with blackout. Before your first cast of blackout, use hamstring, echo, and finally blackout. when your first blackout ends, cast the echoed blackout. in the time when you are not blacked out and the target is, cast guilt/shame and wait for them to cast through it, then hamstring, and then again use your echoed blackout. After this, echo will start recharging, so just maintain blackout on your target, throwing in hamstring when cripple ends, and savage slash/distracting blow/guilt/shame if the target attempts to cast. When echo is up again, just restart the whole process. Your first round of blackout and echoed blackout will keep the target fully shutdown for 30 seconds, and you should be able to maintain shutdown for the 20 or so seconds during which you will have no echoed blackout. in the 2 seconds when you are not blacked out and your target is, feel free to cast guilt/shame on others if you dont need to renew cripple or cast guilt/shame on your target. For best results, use a sword with a crippling hilt (i would use mine with armor +5 pommel too). When your target is killed, switch to another target and begin maintaining blackout on them, calling them so others will know they are yours. With little to know available healing or modes of escape, the blackouted targets should die very quickly to your ele spikers.

1x Me/Mo fast healer/resmer

-11 fast casting (+1 rune)
-13 inspiration (+1 hat +2 rune)
-11 healing prayers

-heal other
-healing breeze
-infuse health
-mantra of recall [E]
-inspired hex
-veangeance
-restore life
-ressurection signet

this guy just needs to maintain his energy and provide any needed support healing via breeze/other until someone on your team dies. when this happens, wait a few seconds for the opposing team to focus on someone else, then discreetly run over and use restore life on the dead person (call that you are doing so), following their restoration with an immediate infuse health. cast healing breeze on yourself and resume your support healer role.

1x Mo/X basic healing monk

i dont play monk, so i really dont know the best build for this.

1x Mo/X basic protection monk

nope, dont know the best way to do this either.

well, thats it. any criticism or help is greatly appreciated. based on what people say i might change some parts of the build. also i would love it if someone would test this for me so i can see how it performs.

Definitely take distracting blow rather than savage slash, distracting is interrupt-speed (0.5 seconds), while savage is normal (1.33 seconds, oy vey).

With all the softies, a bonder and a boon prot may be the best choice to supplement your healer (the boon prot makes up for the important spells that bonders are unable to take).

yes i was thinking about this and you are definitely right IWAY would destroy this since it doesnt rely on skills, it relys on brute force.
the only viable counter i can think of is to have someone bring aegis and keep that on, but still i think IWAY would get ya.
i imagined this more in gvg than tombs though, and IWAY isnt as prevalent in gvg.

EDIT: or you could have the blackout mesmers echo hamstring, slap it on each IWAY war, run like hell til IWAY wears off, and regroup and fight them somewhere away from the slaughtered pets. although a good IWAY war should have some sort of condition removal......

OR.....you could just not attack the pets.

EDIT 2: also a note that blackout resets the andrenaline counter on the target and user, which would reduce the effectiveness of an IWAY warrior.

Ive tried a build in the same area as yours but I used rangers to blackout.

Swap your mesmers for rangers and take Oath shot, and use QZ and you can happily blackout 24/7.

Also with QZ u dont need to archane your lightning orb, altho i think i just used thumpers or warriors.

Oh yeah fill up the rest of the ranger skills with traps..

the rangers you describe will do very well maintaining blackout i agree.
but the thing is, if someone has blackout on them, especially a monk, they will run, so you have to be able to deal with that effectively as this will result in slower kills and some of your orbs missing.

aye my healer resmer isnt too great i honestly have little experience with that sort of thing so ill concede that it is bad. your air spikers are probably a better way to go as well because if they were using mind shock/gale to snare, then the mesmers could go r/me (using the setup tafy suggested) instead and perform better since they wouldnt have to maintain hamstring on the target, could lay down traps, and could have better defense to boot. might be tight on the spikers energy though with QZ up. maybe SQ instead.......hum.
