If you do not want to at least experience some of the new world in chapter two, then something is wrong.
Having everything unlocked for you without doing any of your own work for it would really satisfy you?
Thats a little odd in my opinion.

I'd be very interested in what the game stats are for the number of accounts that take part in PvE, compared to the number of accounts that only do PvP. The magazine post seems to hint that a much bigger percent than anticipated is doing PvE and more interested in that.

And i find it sad. I'm sure many people (me included) just don't go PvP because they are scared of not being able to keep up with more experienced people and get bad reaction from them. The PvP community, instead of helping PvErs to love PvP and help them get involved in it, Just call them Noobs. If we go try out PvP on our own, we get laughed at and get called of every bad names.

It would be a win win situation if PvPer helped newbies instead of laughing at them as hopeless noobs. PvP would get a bigger community, And i'm sure a lot of PvEr would make skillfull player in PvP if they had the chance to learn and get some help instead of being ridiculized. And some PvE player would certainly be happy to get to play PvP and not be scared to play it anymore.

I love PvP(only tried CA a couple of time).. but i'm scared of it. People want everyone to be so perfect that i'd rather pass my turn and play PvE.

Although there will always be morrons everywhere either it is in PvP or PvE.. but thats an other story.

On the topic.. I wouldn't care at all if PvP player could get everything unlucked even if it was free as it wont stop me from playing the game.

EDIT: Reboot seem to have deleted his reply.. I quoted him before he did.

one of the biggest hurdles Anet faces in trying to get more people involved with pvp is the pvp community itself.

not all pvp hardcore (and wannabe hardcore) are super elitist hair trigger with putdown remarks arrogant self centered .........expletive deleteds but there seem to be so many that fit that description the good ones get lost in the mud

as the poster earlier said a complete lack of any flaw in the pvp players makes them skip it.

A PvE character who can compete in PvP takes weeks to develop - maybe months if you take some runes or weapons into account that are quite expensive to get for a PvE character while they can be unlocked for PvP characters with a tiny amount of faction that takes like 20 minutes to get. Why should a UAS version of GW give you all that for free in the very the instant you start into the game?

Frankly I don't care if Anet ever does a UAS version. But IF they do, I really want you to play on other servers than me, because I (doing PvP with PvE toons) don't really want to fight you on uneven terms. Requiring me to work for my character while you don't have to seems to be quite uneven to me...

Oh, by the way - UAS is really a dead horse...

There is a simple solution to this. Take your favourite build that you think could work in pvp (or just go onto a forum and take one from there), make that character, and go to either ca, or tombs where you shout: "X lfg". No name calling, no people calling you a noob (

I don't see the harm in having a PvP-unlocked edition. Even though a lot of good pvp players already have UAS and it takes far less than 1000 hours to unlock (about 30 hours to run a char thru pve and get some 55 skill points), I agree that it'd be very nice for newcomers to jump straight into PvP and increase the level of competition.

I believe that there are already too many unskilled PvPers out there. Due to the mindless fame/faction farming of IWAY. Having all the skills unlocked does nothing for you if you have no clue how to use them effectively. With that said a PvP only version of GW... not a good idea. The mindless lvl 20/rank 6-9 iwayers out there already dominate the PvP pool. So adding to the list of unskilled players would drive me to the edge of dropping PvP play all together.
Ppl should really take the time to familiarize themselves with the skills they have in PvE before jumping into say a Ranger spike group as a spike trap ranger. If you need help finding out what is meant by IWAY, R Spike, Tainted, Orders, Rezzmer, and so on join a guild and ask them to explain the different build's to you. Plz don't jump into a group and say you already know. For this usually angers players and they bail as soon as returned to the mindless mass of IWAYers. Sorry if I overstated the fact of IWAY not requiring a mind.

It would be unfair if they had a pvp only version that had all the skills unlocked. I play pvp a lot, but i also like to play pve, so i wouldnt buy this pvp only game. i would then be at a disadvantage when i do play pvp, as i dont have all the skills unlocked.

Unfortunately, PvE teaches you almost none of the essential skills you need for PvP. Having an extensive pve (and no pvp) background will hardly give you an edge over someone who has little pvp and no pve experience. Maybe you'd have a better idea of which skills generally work and which don't, but a good pvp'er giving you a skill setup is much more valuable than a hundred hours of pve.

PvPing is by far the best way of getting good at PvP (go figure), and everyone goes through that stage where they don't know jack about pvp, regardless of whether they pve'd for hundreds of hours or not. It's unavoidable.

I can imagine the picture of shouting lfg in CA But i get what you mean. I'm gonna give it a try sometime this week when i get more time to play.

I went into CA 2 weeks ago with my ranger. It was actually pretty good as we managed to get 8 flawless on 10 victories without a monk. I wanted to try Tomb a bit since last time i entered this place was in the E3 event of 2004 and all i remember is i couldn't figure what was going on.

Now we have observer though ^^ so i can see what happen in every Tomb's maps

After all is said and done if you want PvP only version Buy the game, spend a few hour's making a IWAY warrior go to tomb's, farm faction, unlock skills and there you have it. you no longer have to play the game just stay in the arenas and leave the skill to real players.

1) provided that this GW full UAS/UAItems version is made, it should have its own separate server and be prevented from interacting with the GuildWars Game that I loved (and still loves ^^) since the WPE.

2) IWAY is fun to play. so its subjective i guess. you dont like iway? go make an antiiway build.

3) skill over time spent? you dont need to unlock all possible skills to win. a class only uses 8 skills in skill bar. unlock 8 or 10 and show YOUR SKILL by using 8 of those effectively in a battle.

I agree that most PvE evperience has not much to do with PvP. yet it familiarizes the player with the skills they are using and what is being used against them. i.e. the little pink tile in the upper left of you sceen that says spiteful spirit/empathy has killed many a warrior due to ignorance of it's meaning. Same for casters with Backfire and such. We all started as noobs and graduated from there. New comers to GW should spend the time doing the same. A PvP only version would just push the two aspect's of GW further apart and add to the already overwhelming list of unskilled players.

Eh, you still have your condition/hex monitor in the upper left hand corner?
