Default Questions to ANet we want answered on the pRp/EP dispute.

EDIT:
I'm resigning from this thread because [EP], outplayed or not, made a superior tactical decision before game 4, and made it under the same circumstances that [pRp] faced. The original intent of this message was to have questions answered about the dispute which I believe no longer has grounds. Some good stuff was said this thread so I'll leave it.

------------------------------------------------------

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

PLEASE PEOPLE MAKE THIS A CLEAR EASY TO READ THREAD CONSISTING OF QUESTIONS TO ANet ONLY AND NO OPINIONS / NO ANSWERS !
Note I am not in or associated with [pRp] in any way.
ANet, please put this to rest for those of us that are confused.

The Dispute:
Fact: [pRp] had as equal a chance as [EP] did to change their build before game 4(5?) in the regional quarters of the $50k challenge.
True: EP made a wise strategy decision to change their build.
Dispute: [pRp] claims "We were instructed to get our 8 and start IMMEDIATELY by Admin Mike..." (http://www.guild-hall.net/forum/show...t=35096&page=4)

QUESTIONS TO ANET:

-It's clear there is a strict schedule to stick to for the tournament, and players should have planned for about six hours of play time. After the progress in game 3 was cancelled, how did ANet handle informing the players on each team of what to do to prepare for game 4?

-Is it even a possibility within the system programming code to have a game start NOT in observer mode?

-Has there been or will there be any official statements released from Anet?

-Can you point out any applicable rules that were published before the game that perhaps were overlooked by [pRp]?

-Has there been or will there be any talks of financial settlements with [pRp]?

-If the Guild Wars environment were capable, would ANet rather have preserved the moral of each team, yet reset the clock and Game items to 0?

-What mistakes did ANet make to cause this situation, and was anyone within ANet reprimanded by their decisions?

PLEASE PEOPLE MAKE THIS A CLEAR EASY TO READ THREAD CONSISTING OF QUESTIONS TO ANet ONLY AND NO OPINIONS / NO ANSWERS !

Why did it take you guys, or Admin Mike, long to find out that the observer mode wasn't on?

Did the game really needed to be restarted, after one team had the big advantage? Sounds suspicious and that you guys wanted EP to win.

Does it matter if it was going to be available on observer mode? I mean it's the game that decided who would go to next round.

Sorry for not obeying the thread rules, but this must be corrected.
[pRp] *DOES NOT* claim they were told via telephone to be ready to start immediately.

I was the one who received the phone call from Michael Gills (Anet admin). I received the phonecall while we were 20-some minutes into our third match. On the phone, he told me we have to restart the match. He did not tell me to be ready immediately. He simply told me that I must inform my guildies to exit out of the match because the match needed to be restarted. He said the only reason he phoned me, is because it was the only way to reach me (I was in Offline mode in GW).

My question:

If the restarted match counts as a match, and the teams are allowed to change team builds, why doesn't it count as a match towards the playoff series/standings?

Is it that hard to add a line of code in the game for gvg matches that is something along the lines of
if(morale boost happens)
{
export flagStand.controlledBy to DB;
export team1.player1.morale to DB;
export team1.player2.morale to DB;
.
.
.
export team1.player8.morale to DB;
export team2.player1.morale to DB;
export team2.player2.morale to DB;
.
.
.
export team2.player8.morale to DB;
}

and then if a match needs to be restart, restart it with the current DP/morale of the respective teams, and give the flag stand to whomever had it?

..because people would still argue about it.

"EP was getting set up to push a major offensive and the break ruined that. Unfair!"

Ever play Sim City where you set the tax rate to 0% and still get citizens angry about taxes? Same concept here.

I'm neither an EP fan or a pRp fan. I ended up just watching a 96 minute long match, that's all.

However, I'd sure be impressed if pRp was saying things like "that sucks, oh well, we'll dominate you next season *evil smilie*" instead of "omg, A-Net screwed us! EP cheated! This is unfair!"

There's 50 grand on the line. You either win or you lose.

This constant negative chatter just makes me think pRp are sore losers. There's not a single person alive that can't say they've experienced **** like this before. Say your peace, then move on.

It isn't just saying your peace. I would not have replied to any of the three major forums had there not been misconceptions. If people are gonna start misrepresenting what happened, or flat out lying, I will respond. Maybe not to all of them, but to a few...

And just because everyone has experienced this doesn't really make up for it. I mean, you can just take comfort in the fact that others will understand you. But it doesn't make up for the hundreds of US dollars spent on passports. I know if we had "won" against EP we would have a low chance of going to Taipei. But "losing" like this makes that money spent...hurt. I'm one of the luckier ones in my guild because I've had my passport for over a year. Some of them got it just for this... So in principle, it is the fact that those people spent money, and got screwed for no good reason. Losing not to EP, but to Anet. Yes, I realise that last sentence is VERY subjective, but so are most things that will come from the mouths of either guild.

There will ALWAYS be mis-conceptions and lies. ..but there will also ALWAYS be OTHER people there to correct them

..and I can understand the inconveniance of the passport. Those things are good for what, 10 years? I just got mine too (not GW related) so I know what you mean about how much it costs.

This thread is addressing a very tricky subject. If it turns into a flame fest I'll have to close it but untill then lets hope for some answers on the issue. So keep it clean ladies and gents, and respect the intentions of the OP.

It does say in the official rules that Arena Net reserves the right to end any match.

I suppose it's like your government raising taxes, nobody likes it but if you want to continue living in that country you have to put up with it. It is much easier to stop "living" in GW though, so anet should be very careful. I'm sure they've unintentionally made a move that aggrovated many and no doubt they are going to extraordinary lengths to sensibly rectify the situation. I have faith in you Anet! Woo!

Its kinda sad Anet would force a re-start on a match 20 something minutes into.If it had been 5 minutes into it is reasonable 20 minutes into is unforgiveable.Its money down the drain on passports,and time wasted on your computer. I personally feel Arena Net shouldnt have let EP change there build they shouldve force another restart. Thats just how i feel on the issue.

warriorsmiley: Everything in your post is great in theory, but there's no way for any of it to have occured that way.

One question about the match that got cancelled;

Who had the advantage at the 20 min mark; EP, pRp, or neither?
Or is this going to be highly debateable again

Prior to me getting on the phone with Admin Mike, we had the advantage. Full morale, flag stand, and EP had DP. I think by the time i got off the phone, they had our barrier monk down - though I don't think they noticed me idling by the flagstand while the rest of my team was off trying to spike them without a ranger.
I know, you will say my statement is biased. But what else can I give other than my recollection of the match?

Regardless of what happened, you are a top guild in the world play like one. The reason why guilds like pRp and EP are in the finals is they're ability to adapt to what they are playing against. Yes, EP changed they're build, so what. If pRp deserves to go on they would have won. Figured out EP's weakness, and exploit it. When life throws you lemons, make lemonade. War is hell. I just think its funny how EP ran a horrible version of WM's build.

EP outplayed pRp 100% in game 2 and 3(or 4, whichever you want to call it), they were the better team, thats why they're the meta game.

Its ironic that such a fuss was raised by patient and relaxed people.

If you were in there shoes, would you be ok spending money for a passport and then loose because of an error made by Anet? I would have at least like to loose fair rather than by Anet's mistake if I were one of them.

Absolutely, you don't buy a passport for a game experience you buy it to travel outside the states. No one but you is responsible for your choice to purchase a passport with the HOPE/CHANCE, that you might get a trip along with a chance to win some money. No one person forced you to get a passport. You choose to play this game, just like you chose to get a passport. Why this fuss about a rembersment of funds spent ? It was your money, no ? It was your choice, no ? The money spent on a passport is a NON-issue as far as I am concerned. Though that might be my opinion, but that is as it is.

The question is not what Anet should pay players who happen to lose by circumstance, but what can be done to rectify furture situations.

The only problem I see here is lack of instructors.
Anet should have instructed both guilds of the rules about restarts and make it possible for guild leaders to ask questions...

Just one question "Can we change the build?" could have saved the game.

I said it because that's what one of there members, or leader, said in another forum. I did not say anything about rembersment. The thing is over now and I just want answers to the questions that were posted, or suppose to post in this thread. Anyways, I need to renew my passport.

Admin Mike/ANet screwed up big time.

The results of that much is at best questionable. If EP won the entire AM regions or even beat iQ, the tournament would have been in shambles in the eye of the PvP community.

iQ and Te saved Admin Mike and ANet's ass on this tournament. Don't let it happen again Gaile.

Even the ESL is handled better than this.

BTW- I doubt ANet will ever address it. You will see lines like " it is the past" "we are busy preparing for Ch 2" etc etc.

Good luck iQ and Te!
