Default Catapults

what are the strategies for using catapults and staying safe from them. i died 3 times in a row to catapult fire at different points in the keep.

was it just bad luck? how are they targetted? how can they be useful or useless in guild battles?

I would love to hear some catapult lore. any good tactics with or against em?

One good tactic would be to not stand in the courtyard when someone is launching the catapult

If you must though, protective spirit/bond can save your hide.

As for targeting, in general they land in the courtyard/lower area of the place they are aimed at. The exact spot is determined randomly when the catapult launches.

As for lore, I've been in two GvG matches for two completely different guilds and had someone on my side accidently party wipe when they launched a catapult at their own team accidentally

One easy step to prevent enemy catapault fire is to have your flag runner grab the repair kit so the enemy cant repair the catapault. If you do that make sure you go grab your own repair kit and go ahead and repair your catapult in case you need it later and so they cant steal yours. Yeah but they always land in the middle/courtyard of the Guild Hall. BTW if you look close enough you can see when a catapault is launched by the smoke that comes off from its launch. Just a few hints

well, its not only in the courtyard where you can die. i have screamed at many of my guildies who stood next to the door when the catapult was in the air or too close to the stairs at the top. you can still get hit there and thats how most people die from the catapult. i know it SHOULDN'T hit you when thats where youre standing, but dont question it, because it DOES.

Thanks Rom0

I was indeed hit near the top of the stairs once and was wondering if there are *ANY* safe areas.

will reversal of fortune also negate the catapult? what about blocking or evading skills, will they also avoid catapult stones?

Reversal only negates some of the damage, it will still kill you.

The most common things that would save you from catapault launches as far as skill wise in the current metagame are most likely Life Barrier and Protective Spirit. Prot spirit is great for saving the straggler on your team who didn't catch the message to get out of the courtyard area before it was too late. Plus, if your build doesn't have prot spirit on it anyway, your build sucks.
