Default Newb Questions...

Hey Guys,

I have only been playing about 2 weeks and would like to try out some pvp soon. I have a few questions first.

Mainly about all the acronyms flying around this forum.

I am assuming that RA= Random Arena, TA= Team Arena, but what does CA stand for. Also while they seem fairly straight forward in what the differences might be, are there any differences that I should be aware of.

I see some of you posting about observer mode. This sounds like a good way to learn a few things. Can anyone tell me where I might do this and how.

And one last question. I see everyone posting about IWAY builds...someone please explain this acronym to me.

Thanks in advance.

CA = Competition Arena, just another name for RA.

I think the default keymapping for observer mode is 'B' It gives you a listing of PvP matches you can watch.

IWAY stands for the skill 'I Will Avenge You.' It's a warrior skill that grants increased attack speed and health regeneration for dead allies. Note: pets count as allies.

Before all the PVP got moved to the Battle Isles, the random-teams arena was called Competition Arena.

IWAY is a warrior skill as the others have described, and also an extremely popular Heroes' Ascent team build based on several W/R's with IWAY and pets, plus a couple of necros for support.

(Incidentally, Heroes' Ascent used to be called Tomb of Primeval Kings, but that changed at the same time as CA became RA.)

One more question...

Can you take a roleplaying Character into any of the pvp arena's?

Thanks,

Yep. Be sure you have Droknar's or later armor (or at least desert collectors') and max damage/bonuses/etc weapons so you can compete with the PVP characters, though.

Is this something people normally do...or do they just make pvp only characters to use. My problem is that I have 3 roleplaying characters that are unlocking all the skills I can find at the moment, so I only have one slot left for a pvp character. Makes it kind of cumbersome when I want to try different types of characters out in pvp.

Thanks,
Yes, altough the money needed to really prepare a character for pvp is staggering. I managed to enable my monk, but it is no small thing to do.

You are hindered by the limits (and advantages) that exist in pve to create a pvp ready toon.

That's part of the reason I'm prepping my PvE characters for PvP. That will be one less character type I need to reroll the PvP slot for. It does cost a lot though. At this time, a Warrior has the most to gain from taking PvE equipment into PvP (Lt. Helm, extra weapons), but they also cost the most to outfit. Superior Absorb, Superior Vigor, Superior Axe, plus a high quality axe can be fairly expensive. Compared to that, the cost of Drok's armor is trivial.
