Default "Go for the monk"

I am sick of joining HA PuG that use this as their "strategy". Everytime a team rushes the monk, nothing good comes out of it. It is frustrating when I make an attempt to discuss strategy with a team before entering and all they say is "kil everything and survive" or "go for the monk first". Going for the monks first makes the team forget about the SIX other players on the enemy team and things tend to get messy and end quickly. I have been trying to think of a strategy of dealing with monks effectively. One heals the other, so stackin on one is almost useless. I play a migraine/interrupt mesmer so I am looking for some GOOD strategies that people have been coming up with when running a balanced team in HA.

Playing as a mesmer it is tough for me to remain on my backline and be in range of the enemy monk to effectively cast for any extended period of time. Seeing as the monk is on a backline as well, how do I get past the melee line to keep him shutdown? Distortion is a must for me, but I don't want to risk getting spiked or stacked on myself, as I am not a melee character.

A strat I have been thinking of myself is splitting your team 3-5, 3 on monk, 5 on another soft target such as ele or necros, effectively reducing the enemy team to one healer. Ive tried it a few times but playing dynamically is tough for me. I have been getting better at it, but stacking one target with hexes is what I ultimately resort to when I panic. I like seeing results from my hexes but I guess I am being greedy. Spreading them around would probably be smarter, but I am not packing enough anti-ranger and warrior skills to significantly impact their health, only annoy them. Therefore I tend not to focus on them because what is the point of the energy waste? 95 damage from clumsiness is not that much on a 500+hp warrior IMO.

I know I am bringing up a lot of points in this post, but I am asking for general strategies, not specifically what spirits one has to cast and where, because everyone will put in their two cents and nothing really groundbreaking gets said. I noticed on the chat channels that someone was saying "only noob teams go for the monk first" and I guess I would have to agree, but what is a good, working alternative? It seems that people get frustrated and resort to this tactic time and time again. So after trying various strategies, planning them out for a good 10 min before we go in, and having them not work is quite frustrating. I would be up all day and night until I found something that remotely works, and even then it wont always work agains IWAY/spikes, etc.
I like balanced teams and am trying to get some advice! Thanks.

Also, contemplation of purity is really killing most of my spells. They dont use it in any predictable order, so babysitting them with Diversion isnt really an option.

I know man, I am a pretty decent player too. I am looking for a serious guild that has build and strat discussions but getting into a guild like that is difficult since they are a pretty-tight knit community of people that all know eachother. I made my own guild but had trouble recruiting serious people so I disbanded it. Needless to say I am tired of losing but can not find any serious players! Planning is the most important part of PvP but no one wants to do it. I find it fun. If there are any serious guilds out there pm me or send me an email @ [email protected]. I play a mesmer pretty well and a monk even better. Also I would still like to hear opinions on what I poster earlier. Thanks!
