It is not a DEFINATE indication, no. I would however strongly disagree with you saying that it is "no indication of how good your team is". A rank 200 team simply is not as good as a rank 50 team. They will be fighting the same guilds in GvG mostly, have the same challenge. Especially with the way the rating system works. To have a decent build and be able to consistantly get wins with it, you *have* to be good. Your post sounds like the sour grapes of a low ranked guild.

How did this turn into " I rock cause I'm in a higher ranked guild" bashing session. Thats not what the OP said at all. If you can't stay on topic then go bash another thread with your free time.

IMO the build isn't everything(ANet has tried to make sure of that), to be the best you have to have good instincts, tactics, and good players. Pressure, Attrition, or spike, doesn't really matter if they can not be executed to kill the other team.

Yes they are, but not often enough for fear me to be a big issue, which was his point, not to mention fear me alone is hardly a factor due to less adren attack skills output.

Who said anything about shutting them down? Simply being out of range or hard to reach is enough.

Not if they have difficulty casting on you, or get beat on each time they try.

Who said anything about trying? You are bound to do less damage with less offensive characters, but the trade off is much more survivability.

THese builds tend to over-extend their mesmers against us, so they can get at the monks. this is VERY bad for them. Although we haven't yet played any top 50 teams (we played II Cipher Jp II at rank 45 and walked all over them but that was a little while ago). If you have your monks only just close enough to heal and make sure your melee players don't over-extend it makes it much harder for them to deny you. These builds also tend to clump up which is very bad for them if someones running a fire ele.

I dunno the builds good as long as you don't come up against an offensive preassure. One of the reasons this hasn't been a problem for the top guilds is that alot of the teams who play in that ecehlon use that style of build. Were unlikely to ever get up there anyway because we have a large guild which lets most people play GvG and often tests new builds in rated. It means we dont have a core of players who always GvG together.

Im getting a bit off topic here but to surmise this build is good in many situations I just don't think even the extra monk can handle high offense builds.

how would the ever popular dual surge build stand up to a team that sends a solo character to kill npcs?

How so? If you have NO NPC's you will get overpowered at the Flagstand and then it's just a waiting game for the GL. Or they can split and gank your lord as you try to win the battle at the flagstand with your remaining NPC's.

Holding teams have pretty much the same strategy as spike teams. Which means they are counterable in the same way.

If you have dominated them the entire game and maintained flag superiority, then splitting your team , half to your GL and half to gank the others GL, then it shouldnt be much of a problem at all. Did it the other night against a split team build on the ice map guild hall, which is probably the best GH for split builds.
