This is another obnoxious thing people do that hate IWAY. Can you please tell me how ridiculing IWAY players on matters of respect is going to make them give a damn about anything you say? Pretty hypocritical. I always see people rambling on about how no one respects IWAY players and blah blah blah. Since when is Guild Wars about earning the approval of total strangers on the internet? And all this time I thought it was about having fun.....

Let me tell you something, There is NOTHING fun about taking an hour to get a group together!IWAY isn't going anywhere until we see builds that have just as many benefits.
I was talking about SELF respect... You freaky IWAY lover

LOL, exactly . Besides, i don't LOVE IWAY. I'm just tired of people whining about it, especially for the wrong reasons.

Just stick with IWAY fella.

With IWAY, I've faced all the 'in' builds and know all the skills they use and how they deploy them.

I've also learned all the maps inside out and the various tactics required on each of them.

You get into pick up groups a whole lot faster and you'll quickly rack up fame, of course taking a fair amount of losses on your travels.

The experimental builds are for experienced players with a solid contact list/guild.

I joined an "anti iway" R3 group recently and ended up being steamrolled by all iway groups we faced. I couldn't be fussed with the constant "anti iway" hate this team was spouting out either.

Just go with the flow I say.

its true. most of the groups with good, serious ppl require u to have rank 3+. and most of them only have rank 3+ cause they use the IWAY. so its startin to prove that rank 3 doesnt even mean that much anymore.

Well, heres a little advice from a R9 guy, find a guild that maybe does a lot of PvE and some PvP, eventualy most guilds become more inclined to PvP once they realize how much beter it is. Then practice with your guild and gradualy you will get fame and get used to the maps etc... If then your guild over breaks up you have a beter rank and will be able to get into some beter guilds/groups and you will be on your way success.

BTW: whatever you do dont resort to IWAY, most people who play it are noobie and people all around GW hate them and dotn respect you because of it.

Yeah, they should just get rid of rank. Having rank can be good by showing other how good you're in Heros' Ascent but at the same time it also caused rank discrimination by many people. For someone who just started Heros' Ascent is almost hopeless to find any good group, due to that reason many people who want to join experienced group have to at least pay some fame farming service to get them up to rank 3 or buy someone account with high rank.

Just play IWAY until you get R3 (Thats the only way getting there anyway). But quit playing IWAY when you are R3. The only thing you know when you get to r3 whit iway is how the maps work and different strategys. If you just got r3 there is still enough time to learn everything else but iway.
Sometimes I see R8/9 IWAY groups. I think that is just sad. I would never want somebody in my balanced team who got to r9 whit only iway.

Rank = time spend in HA, nothing more, nothing less.

There are ranked ppl who can only 1 or 2 professions in balanced and there are ranked ppl who can only play warrior in IWAY.

IMO, there is nothing wrong with that, ppl play what they like the most and play a profession which they are most comfortable with.

To clearify this I'll give an example of my daily life. I've studied classical guitar at the conservatory, and that's of course the style I know best. Don't ask me to play Jazz, I simply can't. Does that make me a noob-guitarplayer? If it's about Jazz, yes I am then. If I could make an emote regarding that, my emote would only represend the time I've spend on playing classical guitar, not on other styles.

Now there are many guitarplayers who can only play rock/pop-music (a style which is a lot easier than classical). Do I flame them for doing that? No, it's the style they like to play most. It doesnt bother me for even 1 second. So keep on rockin!

This example is exactly the same with the discussion about balanced-IWAY. You can't force ppl to play a certain build.

I rest my case.

The point of this thread has been lost quite some time ago. I don't believe for a moment that half of the people now concerned with this topic bothered to read this whole thread and the previous advise given. This is a quick summation of what happened and is still happening: New players complain about not getting groups, mid-rank players highly advocate iway because it's easy and brainless to put together, mid-rank players on ego trips flame everything in site, high-rank players attempt to give some legitimate advise to help, scrubs don't listen to any good advise or just can't pick out the good advise from the crap ones because, unfortunately our government does not regulate the amount of stupid people on the planet. My advise if you are truly frustrated in tombs, is just go do something else until factions release. There will be a huge influx of players, new types of pvp, and the playing field will likely level quite a bit. Good luck.

...for a while

It's a vicious circle of trend after trend, and new players, just like with any other game, will always find it difficult in the beginning. The only way to live through it is by crawling through the crap 'til you reach a more comfortable place.

No doubt we'll see new FoTMs, the only thing you can hope for is that it's not nearly as effective/uncontrolled(Anet.....) as IWAY is/was...

I stop playing for half a year, come back.. and this thread is still here.

That's highly depressing. The 'tombs' title doesn't even apply any more, that's how old this is.

I wonder how some of the people complaining about fame are doing with their own fame by now.

rank/fame= useless now anyways... I only play with guild/ppl i know are good reguardless of thier rank.. To tell you the truth i wish they would remove rank fame from the game....

EDIT: And for god sakes update the premades!!! Noone uses a warrior with frozen burst!!

ANOTHER EDIT: Here's some examples of why fame/rank is useless

I had the same problem all of you have, i understand 100%, its hard and you have to bear it.. how i did it? i would sit for a while and wait until a spot came open on an unranked balanced, at first i did not know the builds, so i would ask for an exact build, or i would search builds on sites or whatever (observer mode now)

i eventually started to get friends, they werent that good, but we would play and eventually i can get into one of my friends groups and we will go to halls if we dont screw up (lose concentration).

but thats how you do it, dont do crappy iway, just go for balanced and sit in HA id1 and wait, most ppl in ranked groups dont care if your r3, i know i dont, i play with unranked ppl all the time, i even take less exped friends of mine to HA runs.

hope i have helped.

Oh and about the guild.. no matter which guild I get into... They are either uber noobs who dont even know where tombs is... or they are too busy to play.. EVER. I'm busy too but one can find 1-2 days a week to play. If one cant, why bother playing at all?

"get a guild, join your guild group" --- anyone want to take me into their rank3, competent, mature guild??? No?? Heh.. didnt think so.

PS: Aww.. c'mon.. why not?? I'm good. Heh let me guess the answer is NO!!

Hey maybe Im a lil late on this thread, and your probaly not even reading this anymore, but holler at me in game if you want to join a r3+ guild thats a competent mature guilld .Just as long as you got ts+mic and you don't sound like a child on TS.(No offense to people under 13 on TS)Thats what I think is a "kid"?

I'm going to kill our ranger for missing his interrupt on your Res Sig...Jesus, let this topic die plz.

Just let it sit for 3 more weeks and everything in here will probably be a moot point.

I'm proficient with almost every character, yet ppl wont take me. The only groups I ever get into is IWAY. But IWAY is boring cause they can never win in HoH. Is my experience only unique to me, or you guys are having the same problem?
Is there any tips you can give me for getting into groups? Is there a particular character class that is in demand the most?? I thought it was a monk.. But ppl wont take even my monk.
I thought ppl in tombs have a common goal: to gather a team, fight, and have fun!! So why is it such a huge problem to get a team going?
In my view, you may have said it all!

So, I just, may suggest, take it easy. Be patient, else, do something else.
