Default I'm clueless about PvP

Can someone explain rank and Fame to me. Are these two related? Does one increase the other? Does it take a long time to earn each of these? Anything about these would be helpful.

Thanks

You gain fame in Heroes' Ascent. When you collect a certain amount of fame, you gain rank (i.e. 75 fame will net you a rank of 2).

Your not the only one that is clueless :P

Anyway, rank is gained as a result of fame. The higher the rank, the more fame you will require. Fame can only be gained from winning battles in Heroes Ascent, aka HoH/HA. The first win will get you 1 fame, and then the second win in a row gives you 2, then the next win 3 etc etc etc. Essentially the more you win in a row, the more fame you get.

For a rank 1 you will need 25 fame, for a rank 2 you will need 75 fame, and for the rank 3 emote you will need 180. However, that is small fry compared to the next emote, rank 6, which stands at 1000 fame. Rank 12 is well into the 20,000.

As you can see, getting a rank 4 from a rank 3 is a great deal harder than getting from rank 1 to 2.

How are you going to get all this? well, you could play IWAY, but its a disgusting habit. Nothing wrong with the build itself, but you wont learn anything, and it grants, to all intensive purposes, noobs fame. If you want rank the best way is to play gvg with your guild, gain experience and knowledge in pvp, and then hope to find a grp of people who are willing to let you into their ranked grps. I proved myself through gvg, to a certain extent, which enabled me to play in HoH, and ascend the ranks relatively fast.

Good luck getting rank, becuase it is as tough as nails

Thank you Peewee, that post was highly informative. I'm trying to talk myself into playing more PVP but i'm just running around random arena trying out different skills with my ranger. Don't worry I'm not interested in running an IWAY. Thanks again.
