I dont understand why the numbers you can farm in HA should not ONLY be winnable by winning the Halls.

A guy who has never made it past the second map can have the same rank and fame as a guy who is a regular and feared player in the Hall of Heros itself.

Any lucky team, or any poor team drawn against even more woeful opposition can win a match or two, just like in 4v4, or GvG, but it takes a strong team and some tough fights to make it through consecutive victories and actually achieve some impressive.

So I say stop rewarding fame farmers for making up numbers, and make rank/fame something that is exhalted, immensly difficult, and a real tribute to your skill and teamwork.

Change the system so you only get rewarded with titles or ranks or fame by winning the Hall of Heros.

Simple, problem solved. I know this will go down like a lead balloon among the vast number of players who only do HoH so they can boast, but so what, its an actual answer to the problem, imo.

You will in one stroke solve the entire rank/fame debarcle, and at the same time offer up incentive to BE THE BEST, not just grind out victories over and over at the low competition levels.

Face it most people at HA now are not interested in competition, learning, but in grinding out 1 fame at a time. 'Lets go to HA, I want my rank 3/6/9', how many times have YOU heard this?

Either that or change *mighty hero* and *terrifying hero* to more appropriate titles, like *needs more practice*, *time for originality* *fighter in training*
Hehe, i never actually won halls, tho i have come close on occasion, but i have to say i agree with you whole heartedly. I am rank 3 at the moment, got it from doing a couple of balanced holding builds, but never quite got round to holding, but i know that is a great deal better than a frighteningly large proportion of rank6 players. Fame is broken, your suggestion would fix it.

Oh I had to reply again to this becasue I just saw a screenshot that made me think that a ranking based on Halls wins would still end up being meaningless. A guy on another forum posted his proudest moment (winning HOH) the screenshot shows at the very bottom "You win 2 fame for this victory" (bear with me Im new to HA) but dont you get 2 fame for your second win? So what it looks like to me is they played during "dead" hours, jumped straight to Halls and won, if this is the case then people could farm the new rank system the same way as the current system, just wait till nobody is playing and win and hold.

Please correct me if Im wrong.

Maybe a better system would be to award a title (similar to the Gladiator Title) for 10 consecutive wins 25 tims in HA. something like that.

Please, don't forget: If you unlocked everything in PvE, you cannot gain any faction...either fix that, but now faction would be useless...

Let's say you're really lucky, unlocked everything ( runes, upgrades, skills ) after 2 months of GW. You're bored. You go PvP...well...there's no faction to gain for you ( talking prophecies only here ). So a faction title..would be discriminating....

Also, I think I'm terribly lucky, to have a good guild that will do PvP ( and we're good at it ) and PvE. Don't underestimate the power of the friends list too !

I just got my rank 7 yesterday, after 12 months of GW...I've played alot of tombs...unfortunately, we ( Pugs ) weren't always successful, and I've only won HoH 6 times ( 5 concecs, and once with Fighter, the owner of gw-vent.com )
I've pugged alot. In my opinion, it's better to have a guild OR fixed friends team, you get to know each other, voices, how they react etc.

I've won HoH once, and I'm rank 1. I know all the maps inside and out. After playing for like 56 times in PvP (I have 56 fame), I think I would have learned something. But Ranked people don't really care. To them, you're still a n00b.

I play HA all the time and don't at all play for rank once I realized it was a bunch of hooey. I play for Halls and the pleasure (and challenge) of beating up on high ranked guilds.

Like I said earlier ---holes will always be ---holes whether r0 or r12. Get over it and run them into the ground.

When you compare 56 to 200 (or 2000)... there's no contest.

its the "we dont like noobs" attitude that i hate the most. im a semi noob in a way myself. i happen to be.. slightly gifted in pvp games so i do very wel but i dont play alot. nothing wrong to play to win, but it is wrong to want to win so bad that you call new players names (noob, which i find highly offensive in a game like this, where 0 people actually know you aside from my guild)

ive had people call me noobs in some arena fights, just because i wasnt using gear worth a million cash, but they sound like babys when they lose, and ow boy did they lose. if you ask me removing the rank system would be a good way, because when you givepeople to choice to "select" people, the "weaker" half of players will get a "F this" attitude and go play a game that doesnt treat less skilled players like crap

Lol. People who lost to you calling you a newb? You can safely ignore them. It's the ones who cost you the game because they dropped the flag/orb/whatever or ran the wrong way at the wrong time or got the hero killed or brought the wrong skills who we don't like.

You can only teach people who want to learn, or actualy can be convinced they don't already know everything. Many noobs seem to feel they know everything, or simply refuse to get any better.

I personaly have no problem with noobs, as long as they don't pretend to know everything about PvP, are willing to listen, and attempt to get better. The problem with this is many players at HA are unwilling to listen, get better, and presume to know everything.

I'm not saying that I know everything, but winning the HoH isn't exactly a fluke either.

That's the trick, Zui. I'm a unranked noob (55 fame), and I WANT to learn. I once got accepted into a nice IWAY team that was ranked after the usual "resume" examination, and we actually got to HoH. I was SO psyched about that, I wanted more.

I want to learn, but without rank, NOBODY WILL TEACH ME. I am not complaining about hating players who don't know what to do, I don't even like players who don't know what to do.

But.

If you don't know what to do, with the current situation, there is NO way to LEARN what to do. If only someone would make a guild of good, experienced, HA players, that dedicate themselves to teaching new people who want to reach HoH how to achieve that ambition, HA would be a better place. However, there is no such guild at the moment, so the current message to new people in HA is "Go gore your own red engine you n00b!" That needs to change.

u cant really prove that u did this and know that to random ppl, but even if ur unranked and think ur so good, it doesnt mean that all unranked r as amazing as u

over half of all unranked ppl dont know wtf theyre doing in hoh, ive had countless experiences with unranked ppl who said they knew what theyre doing and have 179 fame, but turns out theyre pve noobs

back when i played with unranked groups, i dont think i can count how many retards/noobs (ex. runner who doesnt know where to run ghost) ive seen. this is a lot rarer in ranked groups.

ppl talk about players who "ebayed" their accounts or paid for their fame, but there r so few ppl that hav actually done this

Man, I suddenly feel... umm.. sad.. I agree, there are some retards who don't know how to play. In the end it's people like us who suffer...

out 56 matches you got 56 fame....... Dont you love when you skip to random maps from the zaishen =P. Correct me if im wrong but from your post it doesnt look like youve won more than one match in a row.

That's the exactly the type of discrimination I was referring to. 56 wins doesn't mean that I am incapable of winning more than 2 matches in a row.

Surprisingly my average are 2-3 wins in a row. That winning streak usually ends after we encounter the Math Teachers or a spiker/IWAY group.

Doesn't playing 56 times give you 56 fame? Or does it multiply or something

No, it doesent. Each consecutive win increases the amount of fame you gain.
Try this

your confusing me Demesis!!!!!!! you win 56 matches out of the 56 times you say youve played. and win 2-3 matches for each of those 56 times you would have like over 140 fame in that case. unless, you only won 1 match per run. now heres a question are you exaggerating on the 56 wins out of 56 runs statement? because i know when i play i sometimes loose in the underworld giving me 0 fame in one run. its very hard to win a match every time you go in. especialy if you go against a top guild or an Hoh only guild on the first map.

Nope, DVDumah helped clear that with me. I thought that if I have 56 fame, then I must have won 56 matches. But he gave me the link and it appears that if I win more than 2 times in a row, that number multiplies or something!

So, maybe I could have won half that amount and gained that much fame

You can learn a lot by using observer mode. You can play IWAY if you want to learn the maps, but that's about it. I have nothing against IWAY, if you wanna play it, be my guest. But you'll learn a lot more if you play monk for instance. It will also get you in a group quicker. Although playing monk is hard to master, it's the most rewarding profession to play IMO. Feel free to message me ingame if you want to know the basics of playing monk. Or check out the forums regarding monktactics in PvP.

Also, you can learn a lot from yourself. If you mess up something, look at what went wrong and try to fix it. I learned a lot from other players but also from my own mistakes.
