The more recent the post; the more recent the build. Therefore more likely to be in keeping with the current metagame and skill changes.

When choosing a build, or working off of one of those, also consider the strengths of your team. If you are coming from Arenas, your strengths (offense most likely) will be better than your weaknesses.

Be honest, who are your better players normally? Are they your monks? Damage-causing warriors? Mesmers? Are there roles (probably skill sets if you're not used to evaluating as such) similar to what they usually do or is your warrior switching from being an uber-tank with Defy Pain/Dolyak/whatever in PvE to now having to cause most of the damage? (Please don't run Defy Pain/Dolyak in GvG).

If you come from PvE and are used to "tanking" as opposed to doing damage with your warriors, load up a bit heavier on offense. If your monks might be weak, load up on defense (but not necessarily more monks). Realize there are lots of utility roles, to change movement speed, to slow down/reduce damage from warriors, to attempt to shut down enemy monks, don't overlook those in how you setup your team.

I would suggest a basic build. 2 Warriors, 2 Boon Prots, any combination of 4: Emos, Dom mes, Crip shotters. That may seem vague, but watch Obs mode. Tons of teams in the top 100 run a basic build. They just run it better than newer players do. Personally, I prefer 2 Emos, 1 Crip shot and 1 Dom mes because I hate the dual Dom mes version of the basic build.
