Default gotta love the new update

With halls being so scarcely populated lately, I really like the update. First of all, it doesn't seem like there have been as many gigantic skips (such as 5/10 times skipping to scarred earth, 2/10 times skipping to HoH, and 3/10 times skipping to a random map and then skipping to HoH) or maybe I'm backwards on that, but with less teams in HoH, there should be more teams fighting for it. I also like how the time limit is much lower, it encourages teams to get in there and fight, because so many teams don't quite know what to do untill it's too late. It also gives holding teams a better chance of surviving, although on the other hand, it makes it easier for gimmick builds to hold, which may not be a good thing, but it makes the battle for favor more interesting. Maybe I'm completely wrong on this, but it seems to have improved the halls environement (although I still can't remember the last time I won halls for 40 fame).

It's sparked more interest in the A.D.D. general populace, but I wouldn't call it an improvement, as teams will still (and indeed, do) hang out for 4 minutes before rushing the holding team. I guess (in a way) it encourages holding builds rather than fame farming builds.

i love it too... iway can no longer gank other team on 1v1 matches before going to alter. Also there are pacts between balanced to let other team take and NEVER let iway or blood spike take halls... which is good too. iway is dieing... thank god

I wouldn't say iway is dieing just yet, but I will say I never support iway's cause. May the better balanced team win though.

it's nice for the pve kids because favor can take as little as 20 minutes to get. It's nice for me because blood spike only has to hold for 4 minutes, and if I'm doing HOH i only want gimmick builds. Oh, and gimmicky anti-gimmick builds.

balanced is for GVG, if you ask me.

Not a fan myself - far too many skips going on.
No way to get a solid fame run without jumping to halls every 3 maps.

And lame holding builds for the win, saw a holding build with absolutely no damage holding for 6 or 7 rounds last nite.

I saw a build with 3 choking gas rangers, 1 rit, 1 warder, 3 monks holding for about 8 round or so, was amusing to see the ghosts of the other teams being constantly interrupted.

if teams were smart they would interrupt seeking arrows and it would be gg for holder, i mean its VERY EASY to interrupt it.

The whole point of HA is to win and hold the HoH. Fame farming is NOT the "intended" goal of HA.

Stop caring about fame imo.

The whole point of winning and holding HoH is to gain fame. Fame is the only intended goal of HA.

The point of HoH is to have fun. The way that it is presented the point is shown to be to win the hall of heroes. The ghostly hero doesn't say 'you are closer to r9, and a 52 fame run.' He does say 'you are a step closer to the Hall Of Heroes...' etc~

I would thus say that winning halls was the intended goal of HA, and that fame was intended to be a sidebenefit and aid in group formation.

its not exactly all that fun trying to kill a team that does absolutely no damage to you and is loaded with defense.

It's true that it can be annoying, but then again it's also fun playing one of those builds when you have the altar. The thing is, if you're playing a build which is proficient at ganking (which I know you do ) you might not be able to take them off of the altar, but I'm willing to bet you'll have a much easier time getting back there then they will. Builds like that rely more on skips and luck to get to HoH, but it's actually fun when everyone works together to hold the altar. Also, the funny thing about teams like this, if somehow you manage to cap first, it's likely gg for them because besides interrupting, they can't do much to stop you from holding either.

No. The point of winning and holding HoH is to get favor.

Fame was probably supposed to show your skill, I don't think Anet thought about fame farming when they designed the system.

It doesn't really matter what it was intended to be anyway, I just don't like when people bitch because of HoH-skip

many hold builds get a good share of their hoh wins by locking out a team from joining in a 3 way by fertile/symb a fighting side. Some matchups just take too long to then knock the holders off. However a straight out 3 way eliminates this these cheap victories which therefore increases the chances they may get knocked off. Even the best holding teams can get wiped out if they are facing a good combination of 2 teams determined to knock them off the altar. Basically a balanced team with some shutdown mesmers and any other half decent team is almost guaranteed to wipe out the holders who only can hope those teams interrupt each other from capping.

That may be the point of HA but thats not why people play it, I guarentee you not one person in HA (including myself) gives a flying fig about the PvE'ers waiting forever in ToA for favor to switch.

HA is played for Fame and fun.

/agreed

99% who play HoH care nothing of who have the favor.
