Personally, I don't care about the "3 secs ressing is 3 secs not healing/protecting" argument. It all boils down to that one skill you have to leave out of your bar simply because your team can't properly manage the 5 or 6 res's that they do have coupled with killing the enemy ghostly to recharge all of the res's. If you play properly you should have at least 10 res's and monks with fully equipped skill bars. If you can't win with that then you weren't going to win with res's on your monks anyway.
That statement is very one-track minded, and you're narrowly thinking about the generic 2 heal, 1 prot monk set-up.

I can think of many builds where res sigs on monks are viable, builds with multiple rits can easily support this set-up.

Generally, I would never take Healing Touch with a 3 monk backline, the WoH should have me back up to full health in no time, with a little help from my own orison if needed.

Two monk healing backline, yes, I would.

Rez has no place on a monk unless *maybe* they are playing smiter.

This is one of the instances that the saying "my 8th skill is better than you" is actually true.

Theres too many ifs and buts:

Can we all agree that in a standard 3 monk backline with no further utility healers/prots/rits to alleviate or spread the pressure of healing or self defence/heals (ie most shock/warder/etc, r-spike, dual mes, etc builds) that monks shouldn't carry a res?

Personally I dont see an absolutele neccessity to 'have' those extra resses. A few times I've ran a variation of sig humility with only 4 resses as my trapper needed that extra skill more than the res and it worked without a hitch. Before we start arguing about the extra resses for individual builds you need to consider that when you are designing a full team build the number of resses, and on which chars they are carried should become clear in itself. The only thing this argument has brought up is at this design stage you should not take it as a given that healer/prots never carry a res.

It just saddens me that tombs breeds this close minded thinking.
