I actually made an alliance touch team on ts to try and get a glads title, we got rolled so badly, especially by these dang Mo/Rt spirit spamming smiters using ray of judgement, RoJ=ultimate spike AoE spell, 100+ armor ignoring damage that does AoE and is used by 4 monks at once=PAIN. thats roughly 450 Armor ignoring AoE damage, a nuker can't say they have that..

LOL Thats great. But a touch team in the arenas going for glad points in going nowhere fast. I also saw a top 10 guild running an almost all touch team in Gvg on night once the ladder was frozen. It got rolled by a balanced build. Anyway, once AB improves touching will be a useful but not frightning and dominant part of the metagame.

Just over the course of this thread, I have seen far more powerful builds out there than a touch ranger.

If I end up 1 on 1 in an Alliance battle, my toucher will run from N/Me, W/E, Ra/A.

If we have a 2 to 1 edge, we'll still run from N/Me.

A Ra/A can tie up a whole team of 4 people for valuable seconds, and the build will own just about any caster and warrior 1v1. A whole team of Ra/A's can be ten times as devastating as a team of touchers.

I'll just say that the Mesmers are disappointing me, mostly because I love playing a Mesmer. Blackout and Diversion are a joke, Touchers can kite like anyone else, and we all know that Blackout is a two way street. E-denial would destroy a toucher... and be useful against other builds, but no one brings E-denial builds anymore.

Touchers are weak.

My 'Sin takes them down every time.

Massive Degen and crippling = me laughing as they stumble around trying to touch anything, then drop dead.

That's flawed logic- are Warriors weak simply because they'll lose one on one to a cripshot Ranger or an illusion Mesmer?
Don't get me wrong though, I don't think touchers are in any way overpowered.

Why dont you, intead of complaining, make a build that can counter Touch Rangers effectivly?

Just so you know, I've been AB'ing ever since the Preview event, and the very first Touch Rangers I saw were on Kurzick side.

The Luxons probably became so sick of it that they decided to use the Kurzick "weapon" (which is nothing more than skilless) against them.

Ah, my first post in a while and I guess I'll stick it in this thread 'cause I feel like it.

Personally, touch rangers for me go both ways. I hate them if I'm playing something they'll win against, I love them if I'm playing something that can kill them. On my necro, for example, I love 'em. One reason is because I refuse to play MM, and I love ABs, and one of the things I like most about ABs on my necro is, I can play my touch necro. Which seems to outdamage 99% of the touch rangers I come across. (That'll teach 'em to play with necro skills like they're pros!) Of course, a single enchant removal totally, totally screws over my touch necro but this entire THREAD is about how nobody in AB's knows how to counter anything right?

One of the best ways to beat a touch ranger for me, is to count on the possibility that they're relatively unskilled (hence why they're using what I would consider a simple build in the first place). Sometimes early in the morning, I'll make a build specifically for screwing with touchers. Water trident anyone? Seriously, an entire battle just screwing with the same touch ranger who just wouldn't give up. (I almost got dizzy running around in circles!)

...as a whole, no I don't think touch rangers are "overpowered", and I'm usually not too concerned about them. There are many counters. The only reason I get a little tweaked at seeing them, is because every touch ranger I see, I see someone who doesn't have the brains, creativity, or give-a-damn to think of their own build. Of course, most every build in the game's been thought of by someone, but still, I get satisfaction out of knowing that the builds I play, I thought of, and they're not ones you see around hardly ever. This might be the reason for many of my disturbing failures, but that's ok 'cause they're fun, and I used my own wits...not the search button on a fansite. I just wish there was a bit more skill involved with builds like the touch ranger, and a little less "Yay Internet!"

Ok, now for breakfast.

One of the reasons Touch Rangers spark such polar reactions is because against most other builds they are either quite strong or quite weak.

There are many (popular) builds that Touch Rangers can really hurt, and which can't really stop the Touch Ranger in any way. At the same time, there are a few fairly well known ways to cripple TR strategies, which prevent the Touch Ranger from being effective against that build.

In most other matchups, the fight will end and one side will at least have hurt the other, or have had a good chance at running away (particulalry pertinent in Alliance Battles). All too often it seems like the Touch Ranger kills the other guy and is essentially at full health due to the nature of the build, which is frustrating. Or someone throws Imagined Burden (or the like) on the Touch Ranger and people are smart enough to stay at a distance and rip the Touch Ranger to pieces without a scratch.

This makes most confrontations against Touch Rangers lopsided, and feel even more lopsided than they perhaps really were (Touch Rangers often end battles with high health but dangerously low energy, but the enemy can't see the low energy).

Meh, I kill touches all the time in AB. I even had one touch that did manage to kill me once (on my e/mo) offer a challenge of 1v1 to prove he was the supreme schiznitz. I only brought one counter, scourage sac, but didn't even use it, since mindburn, rodgorts + kite + fireball pretty much nuked his arse in the first couple minutes. Once again, no nerf needed.

I do that. It doesn't mean that the AB metagame isn't poorer for them however.

Overpowered, no. Overused, only because there's no shortage of poor players with terrible builds in AB. Doesn't mean you should nerf anything about them.

What's sickeningly overpowered in AB, is saying "Alt F4 for X" (fill X with nude patch, free 10k, whatever floats your boat)... Made one battle 6v8, funny thing being, it hurt the guy who said it's team more than ours. <_<

My warrior/necro consists of:

Swift chop
Eviscerate {E}
Executioners strike
Sprint
Wild Blow
Plague Touch
Heal Sig
Endure pain

Works ok on touchers and holds his own on most sword build warriors too. Hexes are still a problem but touch rangers tend to always run at 20% health or when they get the first wild blow (if their smart).

Ranger /Assassins .... mmm nerf them next please , oh and smiter monks x4

crippling anguish

accumulated pain

I don't really find touchers any more than a minor nuisance...they get close and get hit with Scourge Healing and smite spike. Insta-dead. All you really need is a good guild team.

yeah, if you're setup to handle them, they're limping ducks to pick off...if not then you have to do what you can to keep them busy (along the lines of 1/12 keeping 2 or 3/12 on the other side from fighting while they chase you around)

casters kill them (especially mesmers) easily and cripshots ( i usually just bring pindown in a poison/kindle build and time it between stances) make them ineffective.

end of story. search for other topics on touch rangers (becuase that's the fashionable thing to complain about these days)

Sigh..Everyone always complaining about touch rangers, calling them noobs with "no skill". People make builds to get the job done of something, this is to focus on killing in pvp, don't call them noobs or complain about them because they are trying to get the job done and trying to have fun.
And if you do want to counter them, use all the counters you can find. But the majority of people do not want to be a counter of one type of build.
