Default Kurzick FTL ??

Why are players on the Kurzick side so pathetic ?

They can't follow any direction and will often just keep trying to attack that same shrine where Luxons are out in droves.

I play at about 12-4am australian times on the euro server mostly and find that forever more I can't get in a game where the teams actually have a clue what their doing or even the basic concept of the game.

At the start of each game the quest objectives lists what needs to be done but my groups will often just see red and run to fight.

I never play monk there now as it's a hopeless battle trying to get players to stay with me even.

We capped the elite warrior shrine in one game and had necro ,Mesmer, warrior, assassin from luxon come to cap the shrine. I told the group to draw them into the elite warriors giving us a better chance at saving the shrine. This to me seemed self explanatory since we are all warriors and have limited healing. But no they run right out and try and kill the necro. Within minutes there's flesh golem and well obviously its over for us.

I try to get the team to attack the Necro shrine as the monk shrine was capped and allies from other teams were fighting near there. But no again they all run in and fight them rather than actually head over and take out the necro which with 4 warriors is dead easy.

A flaw in guild wars i think is that you can't type and fight it's just not possible.

I really think that if Anet is serious at making this AB game actually rewarding and fun they should restrict it to guilds only. While having a random nature is ok for players that want a taste of the game it's pathetic that we can't communicate or have a healer even on our team half the time. Least with guilds there's a chance that all will be using some sort of voice over IP making the whole point imo of AB a strategy that can be strateginised.

Basically like many other guild orientated games there's no room for small guilds and while alliances is supposed to encourage team play in things like AB it also allows for holes in this theory by allowing players to free for all.
I'd prefer when I join the fight to Luxons in AB and get ported to the battlefield to only see characters from my alliance not random jokers.

And after writting this I've come to the conclusion I have to either leave my current guild in hope of finding one that plays aussie time slots and is larger or steer clear of AB and pointless game play.

Have you ever played luxon?

You can't make a judgement for one team if you haven't played the others and/or you play every single AB that ever has been played.

Alliance battles aren't like GvG or HoH, they are a world of noobtastic incompetance. None better on the Luxon side than Kurzick.

One thing I noticed, when I actually learned how to play myself and made my team with people that knew what they were doing, I realised we stopped loosing as much.

I only AB with guildies. Basically, having at least one 4-person squad being organized really helps turn the tide of the battle.

Better yet, having 3 :P
Useually we try and syn our entrances with other guildies...it helps.

I haven't lost any AB I played as a Kurzick for about a month now. ( seriously , although I don't go in without having a full team on vent, properly equipped etc. )

Aye syncing entrance with guildies is a great way to whoop ass. However in most occasions its just me and some alliance/guildies who play together. It all depends on team work. I'm kurzick allied and have a had a nice share of great AB's and crap ones. You never know what your gunna be up against and whether yur allies will run around anc cap shrines or just decide to mince the closest red dot. Personally I enjoy the tactical side of capping and killing as we go along.
Its unlucky that you have had the misfortune of dodgey pugs but it happens to all of us.
At the end of the day its organisation and team synergy.

Usually if theres a few teams that dont seem to be pulling their weight I usually shout CAP CAP CAP, sometimes they listen sometimes they don't.
I'll often try to type in brief messages to fellow teams to inform us of our progress, eg south ranger shrine capped or mob to centre... little things like that can help.

I have played Luxon in AB and didn't find them as bad in my time slot only the guild I am in atm while it doesn't have alot of players "active" I do/have come to like the players in the guild. I don't know, Altrium Runes does seem easier than Zos Shivros Channel that would also be a deciding factor.

Maybe since I have opened Team Arena's I should just take a break from the whole faction farming thing and work on that.

hehehe... AB's are great fun for the sheer amount of idiots there. Several times i've said "Luxons, press alt + f4 for morale boost" to have 7 people go, 2 from kuzick

usually, i get a PUG, i invite anyone whos there. Check they won't leech and off we go. usually theres the usual "4-4-4, my team take attack points" going on to suggest some stratagy. Usually works but after the initial capping spreee, the usual massive fight around the dragon happens where everyone charges in like idiots.

i just always make sure my team caps... and since i always play with a close friend of me... it usually works

we draw loads on the radar so the other teammembers see what is expected of them, and if they are noobs who go on their own... we'll just make sure we get someone else for next battle...

To OP:

A) Thanks for flaming me! I'm Kurzick and I play at the same time you do quite often. I appreciate it.

B) Guilds only? Yeah, let's see you ever get into a battle where you aren't dominated in moments if that happens. We don't need, or want, top GvG guilds ruling the Alliance Battles. Thanks a lot for your ideas on how to lock more of us random folk out of enjoyable areas...

~EDIT~

A few ideas for you...

1) Learn to be a persuasive, effective leader. I've taken control of the entire 12-man crew through calm, thoughtful expressions. It happens, and when it does, victory is assured.

2) Get Vent or TS, find a server, get your group of four on it. Even having voice-based coordination in one of three groups can tip the battle in your favor.

3) Is it so hard to bring a Monk in your group, or do you have a problem with that? Here's a tip: if you don't bring a Monk, you have no right to expect anyone else to bring one.

Welcome to Alliance Battles, Aisius. Get used to it.

Guess what? there are people that suck, and there are people that don't. Alliance Battles are 100% random. It's all luck if you get a good group or not. So quit whining.

Alot of people just do AB to blow time in GW or have fun, not to win. It's nice when someone takes charge and you end up kicking ass, but it's no biggy if you don't. Don't take AB seriously, and the noobs will no longer bother you and you'll understand what AB is all about.

Also, I have no problem typing while running somewhere, just type faster

AB is rewarding and fun in that other than RA, it's the only PVP mode that doesn't take eons to form a good party for. What you're suggesting would make that no longer be true, hence would ruin AB in my view.

I think AB is not meant to be "serious" PVP, and that's a good thing. Sometimes one needs a break from "serious" PVP when he doesn't feel like waiting 3 hours for a "serious" party to assemble in Tombs or GVG etc.

It's not like you lose much if you lose in an AB. You only get about 600 less faction points or so for that match - hence what's the big deal? If there is one, I'm not seeing it?

If AB was to be made "serious" then they'd have to fix the rewards for it so that they are also "serious" (ie: emotes, better titles, higher gold per faction point etc.). I doubt the devs would put in such a massive overhaul at this point, though.

Before going on with the rest of my post, I must confess here that I am still learning the ins and outs of AB's. Our guild wants to start building up faction, so I'm doing as many as possible to try and learn.

Last night I was in a group whose leader wanted everybody to stay together in one big bunch, since that's what the Luxons seemed to be doing. He was warned several times by the leaders of the other two groups that this does not work...and it didn't.

Even an inexperienced ABer like me knows that the point is to cap, but it's not always easy to make that transition. Somebody catches you, you want to turn and fight. And for some reason everybody winds up on the bridge near the elementalist shrine, battling away while a handful (usually Luxons) runs around capping.

This newbie is always ready to learn, if there's a particular guide she can study to become a better ABer.

To put it bluntly, if you want organized pvp, go to hero's ascent...now if you want complete chaos continue with alliance battles

Would you want a 12 man team running an organized foc spike against your alliance??
No?
Appreciate "ab' for what it is, chaotic 12vs12 battles.

You realize that there has been a huge influx of middle schoolers on the Kurzick side?

I rarely see the Kurzicks pushed back into their own territory, so if we're doing something wrong the Luxons are doing the same thing even worse.

If it was restricted to just guild teams (3 random guilds of 4), make it a separate area. I know I would prefer if my guild wasn't wasting so much time with people AFKing, quitting before the match even starts, or EoEing us. But I don't want to be restricted because I can't get a full guild/alliance team together. Maybe more people would take it seriously, maybe there would be more interest in it as well. Who knows.

To be honest, I've played against both sides (those kurzick and luxon dogs...) and they both go down like crazy when put to the axe. Neither side is less bad than the other.

It's mostly got to do with coordination on a setting like that, and since there's no way of coordinating 3 randomly matched groups of 4, it's basically down to whoever flukes out and makes less mistakes than the other.

Oh yeah, and no flames, we already know everyone is a dog and so on and so forth.

I'd say it's pretty much the same for both luxons and kurzicks. Coming from the luxon side though, I see more organized groups in the kurzicks. Most of the teams in luxon are just random invites but I see a lot of synched builds by the opposing teams. I see guild groups from both teams from time to time and those are the nice matches to play.
The matches are even but all in all I think Kurzick is ahead because most of the time the maps go from saltspray and etnaran (occasionally at grenz but not that much)
