I always fight to win, regardless if it's a game or real life. If someone hands you a silver platter why turn it down? In all honesty if a player glitches I'd eventually kill them just for the faction, but I'm not going to hunt that player down just to make things even.

Because no matter how bad you may think it is to take advantage of a glitch or error 7 or whatever. There is always someone who will take advantage of your fair play and sportsmanship.

You play the game you're given, not the game you want it to be. People lose all the time due to error 7s. You don't stop the game because of a drop, things just turn over and you might eat a loss. Someone get stuck in the stairs? Email A.Net and complain.

Yes, it sucks that games are won and lost due to stupid bugs. But if they're going to be in the game your best play is to learn to take advantage of them and win more from them than lose.

Peace,
-CxE

Who are you to say "sportmanship is overated.."

Like you I'm voicing my opinion.

It's all a matter of perspective...and I suppose upbringing and influences.

As for fragile feelings...what makes you think I have fragile feelings? Oo

In my opinion its OK to take that advantage but there is a difference between good Sportsmanship and being rude. Granted crap happens and while its up to you as to whether or not you want to take advantage, you don't have to be rude about it. I think that is the biggest difference. *shrugs*

The missing difference between the implied ethics that the OP brought up would be if someone could cause err=7 or stuck characters upon the opposing team. To my knowledge, this really isnt possible, so the debate is rather moot.

/signed to fix the maps. Majority of Cantha has issues where you or an enemy runs across a bridge and disappears from view but is still on the compass. They need to do better work on their maps and not rush things.

Bringing a vamp weapon also helps if your stuck. Take off your sup vigour, and wait to die.

The Rules of Conduct, that we all signed has some express information about this.

18. You will not exploit any bug in Guild Wars and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits) either directly or through public posting, to any other user of Guild Wars. Bugs should be promptly reported via "Ask a Question" at http://support.guildwars.com.
http://www.guildwars.com/support/leg...sofconduct.php

As for 007's well, thats something we can't do anything about.

I have seen several people say that they would take any advantage to win. If given an honest to god hacker, somehow who has no problems following packet streams back to their source and than back out, would you use them to 007 an opposing team, I would hope not. Games are not always fair, but there should be a minimum level of respect that the players should be afforded by the opposing team. Nearly every real world game has rules stating good sportsmanship is an important factor, in fact most games penalize players who show a lack of it.

No. Switch to your -2 life degen (vamp plus +% dmg - health regen) weapon and put on your 55 armor, then equip the - 50 grim cesta.

In football, if a player goes down the other team will kick the ball out of play to allow for a stopage. After the injury is addressed the team will give possession back to the initial team by kicking back to the keeper. This isn't a rule, just a curtousy.

If I find a player bugged, I'll kill him after the timer resets, unless it really hampers movement. That said, you can't expect extraordinary behavior in competitive gvg.

Play to win. Shit happens. I've had a lot of experences with these glitches and I think Anet should do something about it. We've lost to a worse team because of this, but to the other team they won and thats all that matters.

if we are to talk about ethics in gvg, and on a different topic, i expect the other team to not bad mouth us if they are higher in rank. ie, not to call us noobs after each death we suffer and stuff like that. i have a lot of disrespect for those so called "top" guilds who are, what i call, bad-mannered.

there are some guilds who have different "guild cultures" as some of the more "elitist" guilds and so, even if we do lose, i think it's inappropriate for the winning team to be bad-mannered. Just end with a gg and that's it. I do not want to name guilds either but i'm sure there's more people who know about this. Also, i'm not talking about individual RA jerks, but bad-mannering as a guild which not only dampens their guild reputation but also loses respect from fellow gw players.

Yes, bring a vampiric, play smart etc...but that's not the point.

Ethics = a system of accepted beliefs which control behaviour, especially such a system based on morals.

I'm not surprised by your answer btw. We seemed to have lost our way. It's just an indication of the direction modern society is moving to. Backwards in my opinion.

Players have the ability to kill themselves, as Zui mentioned. If they have the ability to do it themselves, i'm not going to help if they are too stupid to remember.

Play smart: Take a vamp.

This question keeps being raised on various fora in one form or another, and the answer is always the same.

When you have played enough you will realise that there arent enough people willing to play "with honour" to make it something that you can even consider doing. When you have been on a rank 50 team that only had 4 load against a rank 1700 team, and take that loss because the other side wouldnt do the "honourable thing", and when you have helped people with bugged guild thieves and recieved nothing but a quick spikey death as thanks, when you have had enough players stuck in steps, enough players lag out, and enough bugged thieves yourself you will realise that, at the end of the day, sh** happens. get over it. If it happens to you, take the loss and move on. If it happens to your opponent, too bad, win the game and say something like "gg, sorry about the err7/bugged thief". I am telling you now that the moment you act "with honour", 99% of your opponents will percieve that, quite rightly, as a sign of weakness and they will punish you for it

You have to deside what you wanna do in such a situation yourself. But if you win like this, you sure dont have a very good feeling about it. Getting a good feeling about a win is the only thing where I would play for...
