I am looking forward to toying with all the new possiblities. I always thought it was strange that warriors were the only Shouters in the game. I want an Eeek shout that let's my monk kite faster!

BuddyLee's Avatar made me give a double take. It looks like his lil monk is into bondage! anyone else think so?

Personally I think ANet doesn't give a sh*t. They'll just wait for some new exploit to come, they'll see how many people loves it and plays it and they'll try to improve it in next expansion. Wohoo?

There are two guys at Anet who have the responsibility of skill balance. Between them they are currently working on the new Nightfall skills, testing them, balancing them, testing them some more... As well as this they also have the task of maintaining the skills already in the game from both Prophecies and Factions. Before a skill can be deemed worth to be changed (given just how much grief they occasionally get for skill balances) they have to do a lot of research based on statistics gathered from monitoring the game and guess what... more testing.

I know Izzy has three monitors in his office that run a script which constantly enters different matches on Observer Mode, so he can see what people are running and why. As such you can be sure he has noticed things like Thumpway, D/Mo's, SB/RI... and so on. For it to be obviously worthy of changing, it has to be obviously broken. I'm pretty sure neither him or James Phinney (who is the lead designer) have the time to sift through every thread of QQing on forums, to try and work out which of them are justified. On top of this they then need to work out and further test viable balance modifications to the skill. It would be seriously bad practice to change a skill, only to have to change it back later.

The balance of the skills is an incredible task, and they have done a decent job so far. I can relate, as I used to work on an inde-style game called SAS. As well as artist, I was also in charge of leading a team of about 40 beta testers for a good while. Trying to balance the 20 or so weapons in the game based on their feedback was a nightmare, and constant changes had to be made.

I don't mean to digress from the topic, but I just wanted to point out that you are simply not seeing the bigger picture.
