Default EOE has been nerfed

EoE now only effects if your health is 90% or less

I know this kills eoe bombs but how will it effect iway?
Does this mean no more iway or has Iway just become much harder to play or does it not effect it enough to matter.

Nerf was probably for Urgoz and so people couldn't screw up AB.

As far as how it affects IWAY - depends on how pressured your team is. If a lot of people are at low health it will hit just as hard. EoE is often what gets people below 90% in IWAY though, so I imagine the build as a whole will be a lot less effective.

IWAY will have a lot harder time winning halls imo. Its a shame though Eoe was a fun build to use.

Too bad, EoE bomb was great when you disguised it as Blood Spike.

I've been in HA since the nerf, versed a few IWAY teams and EoE still adds some nasty pressure, but not as much as before.

E/mo's will get more use now in HA, as 1 heal party might be the difference between 90% of higher...

I cannot comprehend why the nuclear bomb nerf on EOE. The skill is useless now IMO. EOE bombs are now a thing of the past.... I realize some thought they were cheap, but I always found them entertaining (even when it was the opposing team employing it). EOE is very couterable, so why KILL the skill and builds that utilized it. I have never minded buffing or nerfing, but killing a skill ... GRRR. Why have soo many skills if the developers know that soo many are garbage and will never be used...

Why not just tweak the damage dealt or if urgoz was the cause add a few spirit eaters that pop up randomly (equivalent of Dyin Nightmare in UW). Have not done any AB so I do not know how that could have been dealt with (add a few monk NPCs with heal party?).

EDIT; I am embarrased to say that I read the updated skill description wrong. I thought it meant that when you have lost 90% of your health then you can take EOE damage. Way wrong... oops

The EoE nerf is a bit of a blow to IWAY, but if you get a reasonably competant IWAY group you can modify the build a little and make up for your shortcomings. The are plenty of variations of the IWAY build that can destroy some of the common builds like Dual/Triple Smite and ViM/ViMWay. I am currently working up a new build for a variation on IWAY. I'll be in HA testing it over the next few days.

EoE is still a very viable HA skill, I used it today in an earthbind/pressure build and it worked nicely. (Except the one match we bombed ourselves. Meh, it happens.) The nerf was for PvE. The only thing that is gone is those stupid EoE bomb teams and for that I am happy.

iway was actually buffed with this "nerf" of eoe, you do know that iway is usually over 90% health most of the time because of 2 hp spammers and that the other team is usually under 90% health, so when you start killing stuff, eoe will only be affecting the other team and maybe one or 2 of the iway people, and in hoh, this is actually also good for the iway because you can completely kill the holding team without killing yourself, lay fs and eoe in halls and its gg.

I see where you're coming from on this, but am not toally convinced... Talking about the actual HoH map here - I agree, that the EoE will probably really hurt the holding team a lot, and kill them without killing your own team.. the problem is, it will leave the other team fighting for the altar untouched too. There's no way you could keep 16 players who will have 1-2 heal parties <90% health. I've been the other team fighting for the altar many a time agianst an IWAY, and the _only_ thing that ever did damage to us was Edge of Extinction... when I say damage I mean it killed us. And now I think you'll kill the holding team but still be left with another team to fight

As far as staying alive goes, when did your team _have_ to stay alive anyway? Just holding one guy back with the ghost seemed to work from what I saw

This is affecting most of the other types of everything, but primarily it was for Alliance Battles, a couple of people last night were EoE bombing the Luxon side, I think I remember threatening to report them myself, though people have done it before and I'm sure nobody is going to get banned over it there's no way to actually bomb out your own team before the battle starts now, though being down an entire team of people if they were trying could really be a thorn in whichever facton's side but they won't .
Also might have been a bit of an iway thing, you can't really hold halls with eoe bomb when if anyone over 90% doesn't take the dmg *and* you kill the entire iway team in the process
I'm sure it wasn't just the alliance battles affecting this nerf but it's the thing I know most about.

Didn't really hurt iway in halls for two reasons. One, the general idea dbg stated above. Two, if you're competent you kill the EoE spirit anyway, and if you're not competent enough to do that, you would've lost soon anyway. IWAY can easily get many people on the other team below 90% health.

Actually the nerf seems to be moving EoE move more toward the devs original idea for the skill. EoE can add quite a bit of extra pressure to a build, but instead of seeing it commonly in builds like that EoE was mainly seen in EoE bombs and IWAY. Though the alteration won't likely cause the skill to be used that way regardless, it still prevents one whole genre of dross in HA maps. Although I do suppose /resign spiking on Scarred Earth with an EoE down won't result in no winning party anymore. Which was kind of fun...

Whatever the cause, this was needed.

In addition...to Moe Joe Joe Joe...when ANet nerfs a skill doesn't that almost always remove it from the PvP game in all contexts? ANet has killed a lot of skills in the past. Some still see use like NR, while others are relegated to the trash heap. Meh. Whatever. It's all good.

The nerf to EoE was mainly for PvE, the only builds i see hurting in HA are the cookie cutter builds (iway, bspike, eoe bombs)

like squidget said it was mainly to nerf urgoz so that you cant skip the last boss, it really has no effect for pvp
