Agreed. I've seen somebody that was about 100 fame away from r9. COMPLETELY clueless about fs placements. I mean honestly, how can you get to nearly r9 and NOT know when and where to drop fs?

I don't like this weekend. I have played less Guildwars this weekend then anyother because of this event really. At least there will be more r3 balances to beat in halls.

to be honest, i don't think there have been many more interesting builds. i've ran just about everything too. Oppressive Gaze spike was extremely effective for me, netting me much more fame than I would wish for with some scrub blood spike, 70+ fame runs were achieved in less than 45 minutes.

ViM was pathetic. the only reason why I can imagine people ran it is to get a group with it, because it's not so hot at winning.

There's too many boring natures builds for my liking. it is an extremely powerful build in the 6v6 environment imo, having struggled against it, and convincingly rolled with it. Hex builds while possible were difficult to run at times. and it got old. fast.

To be honest, I prefer the 8v8v8v8 whatever clusterRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOs as opposed to fighting the builds that have come up this weekend. >_>. Just my opinion

I've had fun playing with some people from GWG IRC though and aiding in the get bambi fun.

I thought the event has been awesome so far, I think the double fame might have some long-term effects (quality of the players ranked I guess you could say, since it's people with the same rank but half the matches played, to some extent), but I thought the 6v6 rocked.

In my opinion it really complicated the small-close quarter maps, because in 8v8 you have the party space to just load in 3 monks, and a spirit spammer if you really wanted to, but 6v6 seems to free up more of the map, and force more creative skillbars because you need to fit stuff like snares, speed boost, interupts, for relic runs, and altar caps into 6 characters instead of 8.

Sure some builds like ViMway are still around, and annoying as ever, but for the most part I've seen mostly new stuff being used, which I'm actually excited about because the new 6v6 format has had guildies/friends of mine creating builds and playing Heros Ascent all weekend, as opposed to running into the same 8v8 teams using the same build over and over.

I guess some people might argue the ranking system will be even more trashed and thus they didn't like the weekend, but really I considered it utter waste 3 monthes ago when I had a r6 trying to join my group who didn't know what "WoH" was...

Nope im mainly making fun of ur idea of dual or triple spirit spam. Not trying to strike a nerve but i just think that u dont really know what ur talking about (or atleast making that impression that u dont really know).
Holding halls for 5+ games was not because of this dual or triple spam but cuz of the numerous interupts.
That's all, not a personal attack i just think u r mistaken.

Great weekend imo. I think this event will open ppl's eyes to the difference between rank and skill. I don't normally HA due to the incessant diet of bloodspike + iway + vimway + smite. In this event we have seen the top guilds do extremely well which imo reflects on the amount of skill that is required in 6v6 more so than 8v8.

As to ppl complaining about the the rangers and vimway. vimway stems from ppl that were doing the old 8v8 iway + vimway. They are easy to beat in 6v6 soon as ppl started fitting RC into a 2 monk backline.

The ranger builds with thumpers + melandru's etc simply reflect on the great versatility of this build. It takes skill to play this build well (NR with a trapper is a very popular and powerful build in TA although it is definitely possible to beat with a good balanced team).

Also I wouldn't worry too much about this being the staple of HA in the future. When a new format is introduced there will always be FOTM that everyone copies, in the long term ppl will start looking for new builds. IMO 6v6 is conducive to creativity since there is generally no room to take lame skills such as spirit spamming and also fairly lame spike builds (bloodspike) are much harder to do well with. We can think of it as either a mini-GvG or an expanded TA, in both cases there are a lot of creativity in both those forms of pvp.

Moreover IWAY is crap in 6v6, that's incentive enough for me.

well lets put aside the seeking arrows interupters..but even wit that a team with 2 seeking rangers bring spirit spammers..not difficult to make a team with 1 warrior 3 monks 2 seeking rangers and 1 to 2 spirit spammers and Wait to skip to halls and win and hold..what your doing right now is making me talk about seeking ranger instead of staying on the point I was making on dual and triple spirit spam..but Im not surprized that consume chicken and steel pheonix would know what im talking about anyway ..but to me spirit spam is someone that can oath shot/rit lord and keep spamming away because that exactly how it is kido...Im also taking what im saying on this forum into a consideration that mainly this forum is full of pvers that wont agree with anybody with mass knowledge of tombs like myself..and even you mendez and the other guy from consume chicken...im just stating a well known researched fact that yes people only hold many times with dual or triple spirit spam and seeking ranger...hell even with 1 seeking ranger aint bad as long as u body block yellows or red ghost (holding team color is blue for those who dont know)
I dont really want you to get my drift (maybe we play in different time zones since I see you guys are from Europe and I know its different play styles) because I already know your reply will disagree with me anyway but hey Ive said my opinions...this weekend was greatly benefitfull for me and my party members..was mad fun rolling over TA and RA nobobies and even people like you. won many great intense battles on my way there..anet shud have another event like this...its highly benefitfull for me and my guild..and many others that benefited from this also...to save you the trouble of ever replying again ill stop looking at this forum knowing that Ill probly started shaking my head like I always do when I read what people post here about tombs

This was the best thing about the event IMO. It really did feel like a "tournament" where better teams were on later maps. There was only one case late last night where I honestly wondered how the opposing team got to Dark Chambers. In all other cases to me it felt like the opposition got progessively better from map to map. I think this had more to do with the double fame than the 6 man teams. Having won and held halls several times over the weekend, I enjoyed the fact that it usually took 7 or even all 8 maps of play to get there. Only during off-time American hours could you get to halls after winning on just 5 or 6 maps. I remember 3 months ago where it was amazing if you got to do 6 or more maps before going to halls even during prime time and could even get Zaishen to halls skips in odd hours.

I enjoyed the competition brought to HA over the course of the event. A couple times I counted 25 matches on observer mode with top 100 guilds in HA. The amount of activity was high and the competition was quite good at times (particularly beyond Scarred Earth) which is all I could have hoped for.

Having played multiple roles (warrior, monk, cripshot) throughout the weekend, I can say that I enjoyed the 6v6 environment more as a monk because the better teams could actually negotiate decent spacing on the HA maps so it was easier to see who on my team was the target. As a warrior, I preferred the 8v8 environment more, because target switching was faster due to less spacing and opposing monks were always not where they should be due to channeling.

Friday and Saturday were my favorite days of the event. There was more variety during these two days of the event. By the end of the event, there was a very strong chance you would face VIMway on Underworld and Burial Mounds which got a bit boring but at least you were assured of having more interesting matches beyond that as the amount of VIMway beyond Burial Mounds was very low and almost non-existant past Scarred Earth.

Playing with a full guild team of 6 was very fun and had never had a full guild team with previous guilds when doing 8 man HA. When my guild did have to PUG out one or two spots to get a 6 man team, it was much easier to determine the actual skill level of the player after just a couple of matches. I remember it being very difficult to do the same in the 8 man teams.

My only complaints about the event were issues with being able to load into HA districts on Friday that were impacting the area where I live and the distinct lack of sleep I got over the weekend between the amount of HA and PvE that I did.

I got to play a little more today and while the fame was good, (300 some in an afternoon? ty VIM) I still can't get behind the 6v6 environment. The same variety just doesn't seem attainable in balance builds. It seemed that every team was VIM before scared, and melandru's/crip shot/smite in the maps after that. The only good thing to come out of the event for me is that I learned that HA'ers can't handle surge/burn mesmers. Can't wait to play more mesmer heavy builds in the next few days.

Man this person thinks hes so good and still has no idea what he is talking about. Have one interupter on the rt and have one interupter on the oath shot rangr spammer. i still dont get how you cant stop spirit spammers. Obviously teams are going to bring interupters for hoh and bring spirits for staying alive/or killing as long as there in the game. so you better get use to killing spirits in the hoh as long as they exist in the game.

Holding teams will have alot of rt spirits and probaly fertile season.

Teams not holding will have QZ,NR,EW,and Tranq. These spirits are offensive spirts to kill the holding team.

Holding team must kill the offensive spirits to hold and vise versa.

So why are you complaining? it is just as hard to kill the offensive spirits to stay alive as it is to kill the defensive spirits.

Learn how to ply the game and stop complaining about skills that guild wars the game gives you to use. The skills are there for a reason. Every skill in the game is fair, you have the same oppertunities as the guy your fighting to use it and to its full potential.

Yup.. yup. Fair amount of variety, and not enough time for people to fully develop or test things, counter other powerful builds faced etc.. best guilds were in halls, not many skips at any time of day.. so nice. So much more rewarding than boring 8v8 skip almost every map straight to halls for 2 fame. ....! That was so boring for me. Also, everyone WANTED to do halls for once.... including myself. I haven't in ages, and it was really refreshing. Also meant almost 0 waiting for teams other than rerolls. So nice..

One thing I AM sort of upset about is that I didn't get to play enough and now my r8 feels really noob :O :O That's ok tho, I am the biggest noob.

Vim on altar .....annoying. Otherwise no real complaints.

The weekend was actually, quite fun. It was nice to have to go through the maps with few, or little skips, which I notice within the night of the event ending, our first map after the zaishen was straight to scarred earth, against one other team.

Have to assume that HA is back to normal, snobbery, elitest attitudes and so-called, experienced players making fun of "noobs" (Their opinion, not mine) for having less than acceptable builds, in their eyes. Judging by some of the posts already, I see I am fairly acccurate.

So then again, pve will go back to pve and pvp will stay in pvp and the people who played over the weekend, found that they liked pvp, will be once again turned off by the attitudes. Can't say that I blame them.

This weekend, in my opinion, breathed fresh life into Halls witch I personally gave up on month ago.

Went to English Dist 1 this morning which contained the grand total 3 players + me, so back to normal now.

Personally I would have liked to see this event made into permanent change.

Much less elitist’s attitudes this weekend, just a lot of friendly, (on the whole), people enjoying PVP, which was nice to see.
