Default favourite map?

(ok a bit bored in uni............)

My favourite map is courtyard, dont think many ppl like it. imo there are 3 types of maps, 1 on 1, relic and altar. i dont like those 1 on 1 maps becoz they are very similar, like the most basic map although that's probably the backbone of gameplay. relic map are fun sometimes, but can be very annoying and often lead to raging at body blockers.

i think altar map require the most understanding of the game, u go in, analyse the other teams and u decide what to do accordingly. u have to take into consideration of how good is the other team's interrupt, how good can ur team interrupt, how long can they keep their hero, which team's hero u can block (not wise to block a high damage pressure team's hero obviously), 1st to cap or 2nd to cap and how much u can rely on the other team in interrupt and pressure, those are the general tactics. then they are the finer ones, like depends on build how u organise ur interrupter(s), do u send someone to shut down one's spirit spammer, how to counter interrupt ... etc.

after u have the plan, executing it is also challenging, finding the spirit, i.e. fertile when trying to take the altar, frozen when u r holding, finding the interrupters in the crowd, body blocking the hero.

u do need to understand the game in order to come up on top. when everything work out as plan it feels better than any other map. (although noobs do happen to win by stupid reasons and mess everything up.)

i have some very nice moments like, interrupting the holding team's warder and see them getting owned by a warrior heavy team, capping at 9min in courtyard vs 2 good interrupting teams (3 including my team) then interrupt for the last 2 min, timed shock on their pd mesmer and 2s later our hero capped.

i prefer courtyard becoz there's a bit more time, there's a priest, so there are more u can do. and hoh is a lot more stressful.

in term of fame farming maybe courtyard is not best, but definitely more fun.

Its just a straight-out brawl. No frills attached.

I like courtyard because I like to gank priests and try to get the other two teams into slugfests, or just go gank one team, have someone solo the other team's priest, and then cap. or cap really early and just interrupt the other ghosts if ours dies, and keep interrupting until we get a morale boost.

My favorite map is unholy temple followed closely by sacred temple. Dark chambers and underworld are also fun maps.

The hall is too short for my liking, I prefer the longer maps.

Sacred temples for sure... its the only map in the broken tombs metagame that actually takes skill. I like putting our skill up against the other team with tactics and playing style. Sacred temples is a good map before halls imo.. it truly shows who is the better team

Maps and my shallow opinions on them:

Underworld: Rather boring

Burial Mounds: Same as above

Broken tower: Alright, can get pretty congested near the altar. Ninjaing rez. orbs can be amusing.

Scarred Earth: One of my favorite maps; I just love seeing everyone battle it out. But, I do understand that some people don't really like it that much because half the time you end up skipping there for only one fame.

Unholy Temples: I despise this map. If you have Ward of foes up in the middle, it's GG for the other team.

Courtyard: Pretty cool map, although I think the waiting time should be decreased slightly... There is already more than enough time to get your gankage on, and whatnot.

Dark Chambers: Priest Swap FTW? No. Send a warrior to do the job for you. This map is pretty cool.

Sacred Temples: Far better in my opinon than Unholy Temples. It takes far more skill, and the scenery is nicer to look at as well.

The Vault: I love this map. So freakin' huge, and the golden floor at the lowest point just owns at life.

HoH: Stressful, as said before.... But it's worth it when you win, and start holding. Holding is where the fun is at.

I've always found it bizarre that people will strenuously guard their priest on Burial Mounds, yet happily 'swap' in the Dark Chambers.

I hate Scarred Earth. Courtyard is probably my favorite.

Broken Tower can be pretty funny with the rez orbs, it's exhilarating to make a comeback when you thought you were done for.

I played my funniest and most satisfying match on 1 vs 1 maps.

1 team vs another the best win(unless one is playing some holding build)
