Default New teams to the top

I noticed some new names emerging at the top of this season.

My first suprise was a guild that managed to keep the loss score at 0 and now takes the 2nd place on the ladder: Team Everfrost.

My question now... who are they? where do they come from?

and of course the main purpose of this thread at end of this season:
Which guild(s) suprised you? either old-school back in business or brand fresh... which one is your absolute number 1? (even if they arent on the no. 1 spot)

Team Everfrost is basically iB/I Valandor I with the occasional guest from EW.

hardly new indeed.
Team Quitter isn't exactly new either. All known players that have been around.

in the top of the ladder you usually find the same players. they may have a new guildname, but that doesn't change much.

Team Quitter [QQ] = We Still Pwn Charr [Char]

Team Everfrost [eF] = Irresistible Blokes [iB] and No Clue [emt], and some others. Were briefly called I Valandor I [Val], but then reformed under [eF].

The rest of the top 40 is pretty standard, apart from the few guilds that spiked their way up there.

Not quite. QQ was originally created with 5 members from Char. A week or two after conception, two of those members stopped playing the game. One more has also been unable to play since the beginning of this season due to a problem with getting on vent at his college. The current QQ roster includes two members from Char, three from iGi, one from KGYU, one from sA, and one from Te2. It's not players that are strangers to the top of the ladder, but it's definetely a new guild, so it can't really be associated with Char.

Well technically it was:

[Char] - Remade to Sneak Attack [Sa] due to a number of events.

[Sa] - Remade to [QQ] due to people not liking the name [Sa]

[QQ] - Remade to new [QQ], another name change.

So whilst the current [QQ] roster is very different to the old [Char] roster, it has been a series of reformations that got you there. Not so much entirely new guilds.

DeeR isn't new to the top of the ladder. We've spiked our way up there before. Since we have been the main spiking guild for a while, it's not really a suprise imo.

Same players, different guild names. I think the OP is more interested into brand new players accessing the top of the ladder. Who are the new kids on the block.

Another thing I think is interesting is the shifting of power since EviL disbanded. All the korean/japanese guilds seem uninterested this season and American guilds have stepped into the void, even displacing some of the euro guilds.

As of this moment, America makes up only ~28% of all guilds and yet has 3 of the top 5 (60%) and 7 of the top 10 (70%). They also have a disproportionate amount in the top 20, 50, and 100.

If euros dominate halls, perhaps america dominates gvg (post korean, anyhow)?

Completely agreed. It's getting rather ridiculous at how many noobs are in the top 100 because of this.

Did EviL disband completely and stop playing or are the EviL players now in other guilds? (Srry, didn't follow gvg much since the last championship :P)

they are noob spikers, though we do have decent players, just poor adrenal spikes and overall strat besides spike things til they're dead.

Now that the metagame has shifted on the final day of the ladder to counter flame farming for champ points, our guild has dropped 70 RANK, AND OVER 100 RATING. Conicidentally, as I type this our guild leader just raged at our guild for being bad at balanced, when it's mostly spikes failing and warriors being allowed to run rampant on our backline. I'm not casting blame, but things can get pretty sad with our guild's edrama.
