Default Question to the Monks

Ive always run Power Drain over Channeling in Hoh.I joined a random R6 pug and one of the monks saw me using Power Drain over Channeling and he told me that all the "good " monks use Channeling. Is this true?Is Channeling real very supreme to Power Drain. This is my bar just for more info.

Orison
Kiss,
Sb,
Seed,
Inspired,
Infuse,
Heal Party,

It has nothing to do with good/bad monks. It's common sense. How do you get energy against vimway? Against iway you can almost spam party with no energy loss. I mean, channeling is just better for HA cause of the type of builds people run in there.

Well I doubt pdrain will get you much energy against vimway. Anyways, channeling all the way in HA. With good positioning (positioning isn't that important in HA), you can easily get some good energy management from channeling. I've always run it, and always will.

I usually run both when I infuse. Power Drain, being energy on demand, is really too good on an infuser to drop. I would just keep Heal Party and drop Seed for Channeling.

Channeling every time, when QZ Blood Spike was around I used to run power drain, but the constant energy flow you get from channeling just beats power drain round with a stick.

I'd choose seed over heal party if you must choose between them. Heal party is nice, but seed on a ghost in HoH is priceless. I suppose it depends on what you're trying to do. If you don't think you'll be holding and are just going in for some fame on the way to the hall, bring heal party I guess. I always go in with the intention of winning/holding halls, so I choose seed.

As for the initial topic: channeling is a must have for monks in HA, period. With good positioning (yes, positioning is still important, just in a different way) you can power yourself completely against pressure without calling for a bip or br that your team may or may not have.

yes, channeling is godly in HA.

this has been the most efficient sb/infuse bar i've come up with in my days of tombs/HA'ing: orison other infuse seed veil party sb channeling.

the energy from channeling is just ridiculously good if used right. seed is a must for the ghost/relic runner/whatever. heal party is just too good to not bring with a full heal spec. orison is a nice cheap spammable heal. heal other is amazing with effective channeling. infuse is a must for good spikes and the clutch heals that you just can't spare 3/4sec to cast. veil is too good vs hexes.

It's bullshit, if you can play better with power drain, play with power drain. If you can play better with channeling, play with channeling. But I play with power drain because I think positioning is still important in HA.

Channelling. Power Drain will do very little for you a lot of the time against a lot of the scrub gimmicks in there. And considering all the spirits, pets and what not that you'll face in HA Chanelling can be really good.

And don't run heal party on the infuser.... and don't ever drop seed if you plan on keeping your ghost up

Channeling, unless you're running NR/Tranq. Then p-drain becomes great energy mgmt and a great source of interupting fun.

I occasionaly run both, but channeling is overall the better skill. Vs. Vim and Iway, they pretty much supply your energy.

Interupting a spike then infusing it is very nice

Yes, but power drain requires you to target an enemy and then interrupt a spell in order to get energy from it. If you miss, you are screwed for the next 25s. In HoH, positioning is all to pot anyhow. Run Channeling. Spirit of Failure is cute against IWAY too.

Agreed with channeling unless running NR, then go power drain.

NR's hex control comes from interrupts, and they need them even more than a regular balanced would (usually lack of expel mesmer or similiar hex control). Power drain becomes incredebly easy to use (especially vs hexes and stuff like guardian) and is great energy gain without having any synergy issues (channeling + NR/tranq = X)
