a good team is still able to hold the altar even if they caped asap, last night when my guild ran a natranq build we caped the altar in 30 second. Then we just mass slaughtered the people who tried to gank on us. We took down both of the enemy ghosts halfway through the game and left least 3 monk on max DP (one team was dual smiting)... Best defence is a good offense. Beside their mes was busy trying to interrupt each other's ghost, our monk had no problem with interrupt.

facing henchways is the fault of all the nubs who lose against them in the underworld.

New broken tower is a far better map then the old one. What i find sad is that everytime anet changes something in Hoh 90% off the people starts 2 whine.

And 2 all the igays who want 8vs8 back : "get a life". Since 6vs6 i finally see more balanced builds. If that isn't a major argument for 6vs6 what is? We finally got rid of iway so lets keep it that way.

iway should be the least of your worries cause it can be defeated easily. at least we have no problem defeating it. what is gay about 6v6 meta is that almost all if not all holding builds got destroyed. balance builds are just fame farm builds since they are never meant to hold halls.

Lost to an iway in halls yesterday, 3 warrior 1 mo 1 necro 1 ranger. They managed to hold by spamming "fear me" to e-deny our ghosts. By the time we realised and killed them it was too late.

My experiences vs your guild begs to differ.

Actually, one of the most popular balance builds atm (conditions pressure) has very good holding abilitties. Assuming your running 1 melandrus and 1 crip/apply, have you war bodyblock 1 ghost, while the 2 rangers alternate seeking interupts on the other (no practiced so can't keep constant seeking up). When the war finally dies, have the rangers get on seperate ghost each and hope that they still hit when seekings down, if not have a monk leech sig, war shock or d-blow, etc... If you're running 1 melandrus, 1 practiced/apply, well it gets even easier.... I've held numerous times with this build, and I'm just an "IWAY scrub" (...or more offensive things that your guild likes to say that would get me banned here if I repeated...)

That was us

And the build is designed specifically to hold so even if you did realize it, it wouldn't be as easy as you'd think.

Iway is a good build. If I had a dollar for everyone QQing about Iway, then I'd be a millionaire. The only problem is teams that try to run it and fail miserably. It's basically heavy warrior pressure with a skill that is buffed by pets to make your team harder to kill. Please, stop QQing about certain builds you think are crap.

Also, every time a thread degenerates into Iway bashing, god kills a kitten.

I don't get why people complain about IWAY, get a domination mes and tell her (I serisously never seen a male mes) to get soothing image, two bird in one stone, you got anti warrior, and anti monk

I actually miss IWAY. There was something great about going into ID as a W/R and getting an invite in about 2 seconds. /sigh ...

Holding builds still exist. I've seen 2 out of BC, both of which I've played. One involves 3 rits, another 3 monks. Spend less time on forums crying about 6v6 (yes, it totally sucks, but somehow every thread degenerates into a crying party now) and spend more time if not coming up with builds, at least trying ones that others come up with. Hell, we have a build that focuses around recapping every round and not holding ...

The "Fear Me!" IWAY is good, but honestly it's really easy to kill it, and totally eliminate that team. It took you too long to notice the fear mes, I don't know how, you should be keeping an eye on your ghostly/the altar...

Actually, JR closes a thread

About broken tower, it's in a prettty sad state. I almost wish they got rid of broken tower and kept burial mounds.

That statement is so wrong. How can a balanced build be a fame farming build? Isn't that what spikes and 'gimmick' builds are for?

I don't think any map can get worse than seeing O Azn O's team on Burial Mounds and knowing that its going to be a 20+ minute running game if you don't have enough snares packed in.

That being sad I kinda miss burial mounds vs other groups and they coulda just closed off the open area. Broken tower isn't as bad as everyones making it out to be, IMO. One team too stupid to attack the holding team? Take advantage of it, cap first, then /dance on the alter and what do you know, free win. The only thing to complain about if that happens is that /dance on an alter for 4 mins is kinda boring...

Considering he (Gye) in Legend of [Pi], you can only expect so much... Allow me to introduce you to The Legend of Pi. One of the rudest guilds in the game. 95% of the time they run gimmick holding builds. Today I faught them and they were running a build with like 4 bonders, 1 fert/symbi spammer and 1 BiP war. They had literally no damage so naturally, flawless victory for my team, it just took a while for them to collapse. Naturally they started spewing out their usuall trash talking that they do when they lose. To Pi, I suggest you guys try out a balance build before making such outrageous claims about balance (like it being a fame farming build, lol). And before you tell me to go run balance, remind me again, who just flawlessed you guys with balance today? Oh ya, that was my team.

Yeah cause balance builds have got all those non-holding, non-capping characters like: PD mesmers, fertile-spamming oath shotters, seeking arrow rangers, shock wars, ele warders...

Congratulations, you're an idiot

Because woe betide you actually have to play significantly better to hold, and can't just sit with a gigantic build advantage due to the features of the map. You know, ignoring rangers and mesmers and practically infinite interrupt capabilities as they are (I'd go on, but Clinically Proven covered that point..)

:O My hax hero always cap the altra in mid-cast on this map.

I wonder how many ppl ragequitted cuz of that.

ANet should fix ghostly's mid-way caps and bugged morale boosts (wanding them to death but still no morale) :T

disagreed completely another 1v1 would filter out noobs and then scarred earth is a sure fire way to kick out all the noobs before the rest of the maps
broken tower is just a noob map where noobs can screw up a decent team capable of rolling through all maps
or 3 decent teams that dont want to cap early all get in a way cap battle after 1:30 where luck comes into play

I have been guilty of taking advantage of the open area myself, but closing off the open area right by the obalisk would have made perfect sense. The other problem created by removing burial mounds is that there is no longer 8(?) maps in the rotation leading up to HoH. Assuming that you win go through all the maps and win at HoH, but lose when you try to hold, that's a net loss of 24(?) fame compared to having burial mounds in the rotation. Not that much, but it's pretty nice to cap of a good run with that number scrolling across your screen.
