In otherwards, you weren't around to watch the D/Mo (Demo lol) insanity going on in HA.

Full Teams of D/Mos using CoP with those "When Enchant ends" effects......

Yeah, that again would really spell the end for HA in 8v8 -_-

Like it always is when something "new" happens. That means they should lock ladder more? So you can see more guilds playing in observe mode?

Will you people please read my entire post before typing. I said nothing about it being easier to win. Use your brain please. To be frank I don't care whether I win or not, this isn't the point I'm trying to make. Participating is what counts! Stop being so damn elitist. Everyone has a right to play PVP, but for the vast majority of guilds, they have a small group of PVP player and yes there may be more than 8 of them, but for those that don't play 24/7 and that other commitments outside of the game (things do happen outside of GW you know) it is ussually difficult to co-ordinate 8 people and yes gathering 6 people is easier. Less people required for HA implies greater probability of team forming. Is that so difficult to understand. Also what with this part PVE, part PVP doesn't work? Why not? MY guild went through a period of winning halls and holding it. So please less with the nonsense talk.

My opinion is that Anet saw that HA was catering to a particular group of people they did not actually considered as their target audience. It's what is usually called "the power gamers" - the whole reward system for HA is very individual centered (rank, bambi, wolf, tiger etc.) as opposed to, say, the GvG ranking system. The population attracted by HA (compared to ,say, the ones attracted by GvG) shared certain characteristics (talking in general not including everyone - don't shoot me):
- heavy player (playing 10 hours a day , 7 days per week or more)
- more focused on individual performance than on group performance.
- likes to brag (don't we all)
- more likely to act and speak less politely (just go and listen in the HA for 10 minutes compared to a GvG game)
- possibly younger than the GvG one

Basically its the same population other online competitive games target (thinking CS). Yet this is not the declared target population of Anet. Economically speaking, having more people play less is better for them than having few people play more. And you have to admit that HA has become a form of PvP restricted to a small number of people. Getting to play HA at a good level if you're not "inside" the network of ranked players is impossible. Sure, you could try to work your way into this network, but this would require a lot of time (a seriously lacking ressource for many). This has taken HA off the map for new players and people with less playing time, and with the interest for GvG and PvE already going down, it became rapidly an issue.

Also, the supreme form of PvP in Anet's (and many people's) view is GvG. I see this move as an attempt to place HA between TA and GvG in importance, right where Anet intended to. HA has grown way beyond planned, mostly because of the individual reward system.

My personal opinion. Don't shoot. Salut Phasola.
I agree with you entirely.

Also just look at the negative responses here. The vast majority have been ill conceived, are abusive and on the whole lacking any real content. Its really quite sad.

Stop being so damn stupid. You don't need to play 24/7 to have a high rank, but how would you know that. You don't like 8v8 HA.

I was exadurating for the sake of making a point. Once again you miss my meaning entirely. READ! My guild is not full of people with lots of time on their hands. Unlike the vast majority of hardcore guilds out there which are on the whole populated by foul mouthed teenagers with too much time to spare. They have limited time to play and sometimes finding 8 people for HA is hard. Finding 6 is easier! Also I would love to know, how do you know I don't like 8v8. I never said anything of the sort. I am simply supporting 6v6 and looking at its positive attributes, which is doing a lot more then many people here seem to be capable of.

Which is why they nerfed CoP to non-monk proffessions a month or so ago. Were you around for that? Demon teams during the PvE preview were considerably softer targets than during the PvP alpha tests without the self-spike heal+condition and hex removal.

Your entire argument revolves around making HA "accessable" to guilds and players like you.

Let me introduce myself. I'm a college graduate with a full-time job and a life outside of Guild Wars. My guild is mostly college students, adults like myself with families to tend to and small time to PvP.

We've all got our emotes, even if some only sport the deer. We GvG when we can, where we can, and HA because we like to (and for phat lewts, gotta love the phat lewts).

Not everyone opposed to this are pre-teens whose parents let them skip school twice a week to grind fame farm with IWAY. Point of fact, the person you're arguing with in the last post is well regarded as one of the best balanced players in the HA game.

Finding 6 is "easier"? No; finding 6 credable players without a friends list of expierienced HA/PvPers is easier.

Yes: it does take time to "break in" to top level play. People want credible players by their side...and you don't sound like one of them to me. You sound like someone who didn't like how HA worked, so he left. 6v6, you're back and go your first hold in. Gratz. Stay a while this time; you might learn something.

Hmm notice all the reactions can be made into to groups.

Vim-wayers "..ok whatever"

IWAYers "I'll just do Vim-way"

Balanced hall holders and elitests: "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

People who left HA "W00T!"

Blood spike: "Ok I still work ^_^"

Noobs: "What's HA?"

Well Broken tower is a joke now, its not down to skill its all luck. Plus you have nub teams who just hit the closest thing to them. At first I thought 6v6 was going to be good but now with the map changes they've made i'd much rather have 8v8 the maps are just more suited.

First things first, me and most of my guildmates who PVP have emotes, we range from R3 to R7 and most of my guild are as you described yours to be. We GVG and HA when we can but because of said time restraints PVP play is limited. If there were 8v8 still I could still 8v8, but just not as often. For some people 8v8 is completely out of the question because their guild does not have enough players, thus with 6v6 HA becomes more accesible to them. For me it means I will be able to play more often.

If you read my previous comments I said most people who have replied in a negative fashion are ill spoken teenagers, not all. When I see comment after comment opposed to 6v6 saying F*CK you A-Net, I sort of struggle to believe that the opposition to 6v6 is enlightened and part of the older and more mature segment of the GW community. Also regardless of the fact that said person is regarded as one of the best balanced players in the GW community he has misread and misinterpretted 2 of my posts. I am entitled to point this out to him.

My friends list is my guild. As I have pointed out several times, for me finding 6 people in my guild is easier than finding 8. Also correct me if I'm wrong but finding 6 players is easier than finding 8. Less people, thus easier.

And finally why should you have to break into to HA, like its some sort of secret club. Why not make it more accessible. Granted for top level players people want to win and have decent players by their sides, but they can filter players out as they go. The ranking system partly helps sort the more experienced from the less experienced, so whats the problem. Also FYI I havent left PVP. I 8v8ed with my guild when I could and I will 6v6 with them now that 6v6 is here (albeit more often).

And oh yeah you haven't played with me so don't judge my ability to play, simply because I argue with a hardcore HA'er does not make me any less of a player, you are just further proving to me that HA'ers are elitists who believe they are part of some special little untouchable group.

nobody judged your ability to play, you are just looking for stuff that aint there just to start a retarded argument. theres a name for what you are doing, its called trolling.

The most stupid thing about this whole change is the fact that 90% of those who were crying for a change (due to not being able to get into groups) will most likely not be arround anymore in a few weeks. Its not like its easier now to get a nice series of wins, so in the end, those new to pvp will have an harder time to get themselves a decent rank.

on a sidenote
thumbs up anet for your excitingg changes to the maps...

Errm this effectively says I am a bad player. I am not trolling! I have at least attempted to make some positive comments.

I don't mind seeing well thought out critisicm, just sick and tired of hearing F U Anet.

This entire change has really put me off. The new 6v6 didn't do anything for me. Its like a flagstand gvg battle or a big TA. I wish that HA would have stayed 8v8, I'll still get the few hundred fame for my next rank but after that I'm done. At least now I can focus on GvG more than anyother aspect of the game.
