Default HA Elitism? Of course

When I first started playing I was PvE as most do. I got bored with PvE and decided to do PvP. Went directly to HA (tombs) and lost a lot with the pugs I was in but did develop a friends list. Learning the skills provided and counters was enjoyable and still is to some point. I put in my time and feel confident as to which skill to use at any given time. When I wasn't doing GvG it was fun to do HA and knowing that the other person would be doing their job. Problem is now if a person isn't doing GvG they log off. I will say it again the PvP community is second tier in Guild Wars even though they grandstand it as such events.

Sounds like a bunch of whining to me. I really don't think it's fair to criticize the people you play with simply becuase they don't want to HA.

Your last sentance confuses me a bit. What does "...even though they grandstand it as such events." mean? And second teir to what? PvE? Another PvP game? If it's the latter, I'm not in a position to comment, as GW was the first game I've ever played competitively.

I dont understand this thread. Does it have something to do with comparing the different aspects of the game or are you complaining about something?

I think (emphasis on think) that he's saying there's a problem with HA. People don't play it anymore, instead they log off. This is certainly true, albeit rather unremarkable.

HA sucks because sigils are worth 6k now. I bet if they jumped back up to 70k or 100k people would play again.

I guess anet tried and failed with heroes in ha. Although imo its not that bad. And ya alot of people would probably be doin ha if sigils were worth 70k. Somewhat overreacting, you should have just waited it out for a little longer. Seems like they are gonna do something probably nothing dramatic but satisfying for u... i guess.

EDIT - It's not exactly second to pve just think of all the pvp updates and competitions they have.

It's never going to happen unless they alter the sigil drop rate significantly. In doing so, you would get sigils less often and hence your earning rate would still be the same. The change from a 10 minute hall of heroes to a 4 minute hall of heroes increased the supply of sigils to the point that you now see them going for 6k. If you are running a holding build and the time you spend getting to halls is nominal compared to the time you spend holding halls, then the change from 10 minutes to 4 minutes actually didn't affect your earning rate either.

The only thing that can increase your earning rate from playing halls is an increase in the demand of sigils. The only ways I see this happening are:

- guilds changing halls more often than previously
- guilds disbanding more often and new guilds forming (i.e. higher guild turnover rate)

So to increase your earnings from HA sigils, you need more guild e-drama.

Edit: Just realized there is one thing that can reduce supply in a way that can actually allow your earnings to go up. If the programming of the game is such that more teams with heroes and henchmen winning halls assign the sigils to the AIs instead of the live player, then the supply can go down in a way that actually increases earnings.

Can't see how any of you can say that was whining. Just sick of everyone using the scapegoat that HA is ruined cause of ranking system. I join lower ranked peeps but only if I know them and confident that they can play. But thx for trolling.

Which entirely misses the point. All this shows is that for great enough reward you're willing to put up with a lot of crap. And how do we know it's crap? Simple, it's no fun on its own UNLESS the reward is there. To claim that "HA sucks because sigils are 6k" is a statement so totally ignorant of basic causal and correlative relationships that I still question whether it was intended sardonically.

I didn't claim that so you shouldn't quote me. All I know is, I would definetly go there more frequently instead of trying to progress in nightfall with my ele and run flags, and then log off. HA still woudn't be fun if sigils were worth 70k, I'd just be willing to put up with it. Yes, I'm being sardonic. Yes, I'm feeding the trolls.
