Once the dumb players realize that Pious Restoration owns hexes the same way CoP used to, none of your hex solutions will stop the average dervish. I suggest sticking to conditions and energy denial.

Isn't Pious Restoration an elite?

And if it's the case, would you suggest every Dervish to stick with no other elite than this one?

Keep your team spread out, kite them and kill the rest of their team.. veil of thorns is annoying but the cripple can be removed rather easily. If your team has no condition removal don't ever expect to be successful.

Dervishes are difficult to deal with in RA because your teammates are idiots. Snaring a dervish is a good move, but is worthless when 3 of your teammates ball up around the dervish after you snare him.

Spirit shackles, miss hexes, and blinds are good vs dervishes. Most warrior counters apply to some degree.

Well, as much as I'd like to say shouldn't kiting be obvious? Not many do it. I enjoy the whole RA aspect of just going and never having to wait, where as in HA (which I love WAY more) I often can't get groups. I needed a counter for derv and you al have supplied tons =) Thanks everyone!

Just a quick thought. I don't pvp much and so haven't tried it, but for those of you suggesting snares and such have u taken Avatars into consideration? Melandru has condition immunity and 200 extra hp for over a minute.
Same for hexes. Avatar of dwayna removes one hex per usage of a skill.
just a thought

Default My Synopsis On The Dervish Countermeasure

Countering dervish doesn't seem an easy thing at the moment.

The problem being the responses to either leaving or removing their enchantments.

Leave them on and get tanked.Remove them and they get healed.

A real quandry.

If they use their secondary,say a D/A, then they teleport and close the gap.
A D/W, are now using tactics and their own powerful abilities to be reapers of death.

This can be assumed to be the case with all secondaries used by dervish.
Hexes can be countered by a D/Mo. CoP is one spell that comes to mind. Stack all the hexes you want, just to have it removed and your mesmer or necro stuck on recharge. Or if the Dervish is a mesmer secondary, and Blackouts your bar? That can turn really ugly.

The point is that the dervish has few counters because they are new, not because they don't exist. They are,IMO,still melee casters, but that is a strength and not a weakness. The ability of the individual playing them makes them really good or really bad.

Where assassins had to hit and run, Dervish have the ability to tank and stand their ground.This makes them more dangerous in one sense,and more vulnerable in another.

The vulnerablity being that they will stand and fight when the sin would attempt to run. Interupting the Dervish seems the best opening to start with.
Stop the cast, and stop the dervish. easier said than done, but that is the beginning of the answer.

touch rangers with dodging skills (Lightning Reflexes, Whirling Defence, Escape)

75% evasion of their pathetic swipes and use Plague Touch to give them back whatever conditions they give you.

blind any mellee without condition removal and its gg. I am not sure the comparison of derv and wammo is entirely fair. While dervs have good self healing, they aren't the self healing + def stances + one attack skill idiocy that is the wammo.

Here are some skills that help rape Dervishes:

Necro:
Spiteful Spirit {E}
Reckless Haste
Price of Failure
Soul Barbs (nice damage when they do their enchants)
Defile Enchantments/Desecrate Enchantments
Insidious Parasite
Enfeebling Touch
Enfeebling Blood
Shadow of Fear
Plague Touch

Mesmer:
Spirit Shackles
Spirit of Failure
Clumsiness
Empathy
Ineptitude {E}

Ritualist:
Vengeful Weapon
Weapon of Remedy {E}
Dissonance
Disenchantment
Wanderlust

Ranger:
Crippling Shot {E}
Pin Down
Melandru's Shot {E} -> heh, they are always enchanted
Choking Gas -> it does interrupt them and can support a warrior tanking a derv very easily

Anyway... these are on classes I play. I'm sure others can help you out.

You missed one: Eviscerate! How can it hurt you if it's dead!

Listing obvious counters is key.

lol, there's several skills you missed but it's pointless to name them all. Shut them down like you would shut down any other melee tbh. Also any enchant removal would work.

Yes, I admit my list wasn't exhaustive. That's why I put the word "some" in my first sentence.

Too true. I was messing around in RA the other day taking down Dervish/ Assassins/ Warriors/ Rangers with a mix of SS, Price of Failure and Reckless Haste. Even with hex removal, you just plant a couple of cover hexes like Suffering, Parasitic Bond and Insidious Parasite, just the 3 hexes mentioned firstly is enough to take down any idiot who continues to attack.
