There's a term for this kind of person you encountered: an angry, mannerless geek. Just ignore them, they're ten a penny in RA.

Not true. It happens to me almost every single RA match. I'm kiting 2 warriors, and they say things like 'stand still and fight me like a man', 'stop running you vagina', or 'stop it you girl'....I usually give a detailed essay on the use of kiting in all-chat (between the occasional use of return), which tends to shut them up.

Well thats classic, I laugh my @ss off when I see warriors complaining about you kiting them, especially with Mo/A.
I also like when I play a damage tank killing the opposing team's monk and they keep hitting me for 3-6 with swords in hopes I turn to them and they can use their stupid gladiators defense-riposte-deadly riposte.

But indeed, that isnt a skill bar suited for RA. Doesnt matter anyway, its your game, your monk, you play the way it suits you better.

I loved it one day when i was playing Protector monk in RA and the rest of the two teams had left so it became a Dual, then the W kept spamming n00b because he couldnt hit me with Shield of Deflection on luckily for me i had some smiting skills on me, it took awhile but just before the W was about to die he left in a big huff

Its funny how serious some people take RA.

Its the random arenas! ANYTHING WORKS!

I still run an E/R with conjure flame, mark of rodgort, and tigers fury (and a res sig, of course)

People call me a noob for using return on a Mo/A because "im not good enough to properly kite"

I get flamed for using twisting fangs as an assassin; people say "get something original" note that these are the mending wamos and touch rangers >.>

The best is when a guy threatened to rage because i was playing an MM in RA. It was funny when i ended up winning 1v4 because minion bombs just are THAT powerful >.>

I've been called a noob for running a boon prot with no res in RA. Never mind the fact that I've never needed to res a team mate in RA. Like some others here, I have over 1 million faction, rank 8 and play in a consistently well-ranked guild. I highly doubt the mending wamo calling me a noob is going to ruin my day.

In response to the first post by the thread starter, I have to respond in the following way. RA is one of the more frustrating environments of PvP in the first place, you get random people you know little about and rely that they have made good choices and work well with your build. Past that fact the people there are at some points the peole that are new to the game and aren't skilled enough to move up yet, consituting those warriors calling you noob for kiting. Some of them are those described in an earlier post, Gladiator's Point farming bot people looking to max out on Rank seven glad. The whole huff of the place can make people very angry, angry enough to call you noob without really thinking of what they're saying, kind've like real life. I admit personally that I have been called a noob monk several times when I don't bring a resurrection signet, and times when typical Wa/Mos run away from me while they are dying and question where the heals were in an offense manner. I have also called people noob out of blind rage at times, sometimes the acusations were made in fact though I shouldn't have said them in the first place, and other times I was just caught up in the mood of RA and rashly spoke out against a team mate.

On the other front in PvP people generally aren't this rude, though there are those out there that can occasionally break a nerve, in HA and GvG generally even if people determine to call you noob they probably won't say it to your face, unless you *really really* messed up.

I hate how rude the RA is. Especially if you decide to test a build there, becuase then you are OBVIOUSLY a noob!

When some people are particularly stupid about it I whisper them later and ask them why they felt the need to be such rude pricks, explaining why their remarks were wrong. It's actually worked quite a few times. When that doesn't work, I just troll them. It's a win-win scenario.

I call people idiots sometimes in RA, but that's only with exceptional cases. Like the wammo that refuses to attack any other target but you, while your monk is behind you and healing you effortlessly the whole time. You still win, but god is it annoying.

What makes RA so volatile is that there are so many different reasons people are playing it. Some people want to try PvP for fun, bring their unique builds, make friends, etc. They'll get called carebears by more serious players or even harassed sometimes.

Some people are competitive and want a challenge of winning matches. Each match counts to them, and they'll get very pissed at others who cut their losses on a bad team, or people who suck.

And then there are people who just want to powerplay RA for 10-match streaks and glad points. They'll have no qualms about leaving the team instantly to try their luck again. They don't get along with the first two groups because they're not out to make friends or play RA for the 'challenge' of winning every single match.

And over all groups you have varying levels of experience and maturity, which is generally on the lower end in RA.
You forgot one kind of players: those who like to go to RA on every 29th february, just for the hell of it, who don't take it seriously and are glad if they get a glad point (which is quite easy actually when you're not completely clueless in PvP) but won't ragequit if there is a deadweight in the team.

That's what I use to do. You know, generally 1 game is enough to know if you're going to have 10 consecutive victories with a team. Sometimes I see we have no chance, but I still stay, for the fun of it.

Oh and the comment about warriors is sooo true. But I also noticed most of the players who call you a noob (generally warriors and rangers, erm...) are very bad players who do that right after you've killed them (generally I answer something like: "are you talking to me, dead one?"). I can't remember someone calling me a noob after having "owned" me. It doesn't mean a good player can't be a jerk, but erm... statiscally you're more likely to be insulted by a 12 year old kid you killed because he doesn't understand your build than by experienced player. I also smile when I think about the fact a bad player calling you a noob will remain a bad player, as he's too proud too ask himself why you've killed him and change his build / gameplay accordingly

Ding ding ding. Winner. If there's anything that needs to stay on everyone's mind during shit talk in GW, it's this.

for the creator of this thread: I dont know your entire situation during that(those) RA match(es) but I'll tell you 2 things:
1. your build isnt something to brag about but it's not as horrible as some that you often see in RA
2. most of the noob callers are usually newbies themselves

Funny... i believed the topic was about RA?

anyway: if somebody dies...Blame the monks... it is like that in PvE and it is like that in RA... live with it and pls ignore it and dont sleep a minute less about it. I might say that monks are the most cursed characters in the game, because they cannot fix the errors of most damagers: failure to kill...

But in any case just and simply ignore the thingie... oww and next time dont post your bar... it kinda ruins the topic tbh

RA is the abbreviation for Retard Arena.

It is truely mindboggling how so many clueless people can meet up in such a tiny place, and you just have to listen to the conversations in RA district 1 to know that it is true.

Yesterday I did a quick RA run. Two of my team were literary just standing in the lava on the kill count map. Response of one of them towards me:"noob monk"
That sort of things really triggers me, and I gave the silly sod a piece of my mind. So if I meet complete stupidity, I can be rude.
I also remember a Minionmaster in one RA team who didn't use a single skill till someone died. That sort of things makes you just want to scream.

But overal, I think I'm not the rudest player out there. ^^

~ peace, Makk.

I've essentially lost all faith in RA. I only go in if I'm wacking off (Wammo or a 5 stance mesmer with Ineptitude)...

The environment is great to teach kiting :P but other than that, all you're getting is rudeness/idiocy. Coordination is ridiculously low, people don't use res sig until 30 seconds later or they're dying (or don't bring it at all), yadda yadda - can go on forever on why RA sucks in its current form, and the saddest part is it's all a construction of the community's creation (like it or not, bottom feeding pugs are members of the community).

If all you want is a little side faction, go nuke zaishen till you get 2k once a day, it's remarkably stress-free in comparison once you have a nice (re:cheap) build for it.
