sure monk sin is nice for kiting but when u get into really heated matches with monks being pressured by the warrior or spike or whatnot, kiting with return and dark escape really waste ur energy from the more important things like healing ur teamate... the mo/me hex breakers are coming out though to ward against hexes.

Okay, so what would be the best balanced option for a monk? By the sounds of it, a Mo/A helps to protect against physical attackers, Mo/Me helps protect against hexes, and Mo/E is popular for the Aegis chain to disrupt physical damage again.

So is there any way to combine hex and physical protection together for an even more self-sufficient monk that can split if he is forced to without having to Blessed Light himself every time he wants to remove a hex which can get expensive at 10 energy a pop?

I know I've seen a few starting to run Divert Hexes instead of Blessed Light, but unless you're up against a hex heavy team, you just lost one of your larger heals.

Mo/A is also good against spikes.

And imo the best self-sufficient monk is a mo/w. If you're going to end up splitting a monk, chances are you'll run into either assassins or mind schock (or something equally discouraging). mo/w = ftw at handling that. It brings a tear to my eyes whenever black spider strike gets blocked.

I can see their sighs when they heave in shame.

And they think zomg why can't my gank work?!!

Balanced stance is ftw.

The Mo/E isn't just good at an aegis chain, it's also great for energy management. That glyph of lesser energy really helps alot.

Neat idea since all too often you get paired with a team that has no anti-melee whatsoever. At what spec did you run it? If you're going to spec a monk into air for RA might as well go all out and run gale as well for an extra pip of regen and to gale that mesmer while they are casting diversion on you or if you're not under much pressure gale the opposing monk to help your team score kills.

As i posted earlier, that's actually why Mo/E is good. Aegis chains are mostly for bad kiters. I will admit that they probably work wonders against scrubs running the new IWAY, but other than that it gimps teh monk bar in my opinion.

there's also a dervish skill that negates knockdowns... you can keep it up indefinitely, i forget the name. Only disadvantage is that it's an enchantment as opposed to a stance.

And it costs alot. And it's an enchantment. Stances are instant activation. Keeping up that enchantment constantly is a grind on your energy. Balance stance you can use it when you need. Mashoobaloo?
