Default tourney only ladder

I don't like going into a tournament season on a ladder filled with the following teams:

1) rank 1000+ teams with level 13 pves trying to figure out how to open their own gate, long enough for us to cata them.

2) rank 500 or so obviously casual teams, that just copy builds and run around with out a plan trying to force a VoD ( especially after you whoop them 8v8 in 2 minutes) cause thats good "tactics."

3) pugs, I don't think alliance pugs that serve the same role as a smurf belong on a tourney ladder. Smurfs, don't either. Anet need to stop making excuses and enforce their rules, any FPS ladder that ends in money, has a client id and ip check, and eliminates almost 100% over time, and if you violate the rules you get 60 month ban (or more) to all accounts.

for example, It sucks to lose a whole night of gaming cause you get a -25 to a pug made from the a few of the best guilds in the top ten. Only to get +4's when you try to recover. Why am I fighting a team in gvg when they have 2000 less rank then we do? Why am I fighting super under ranked pugs, filled with the best players in the game? If you want GW to expand to other leagues (or just to be taken seriously) with money prizes you need some proof that it can support the rules that every other competitive money game
can.

I would rather play a lower number of more meaningful matches with the option of playing on an open ladder, but I don't want non-registered players playing on the tourney ladder, and I want the tourney ladder policed by anet, as we all know is possible, with a better tighter, matching system. I'd rather wait 10 minutes to play some one good, and have a fun game I can learn from, then play 2 really low ranked teams and 1 good one in the same time.

P.S. I want picture in picture for GvG obs mode, and a record button (what competitive game in the past 6 years doesn't have this?)

We have lost about 50 points this season to PUGs and smurfs (those guys over at #gwp need to find something else to do imo ).

Presumably its the same for everyone

If it is the same for all the "real" teams then does it matter? If all the real teams are similarly disadvantaged, and all the smurfs and PUGs ultimately disqualified from the tournament, then isnt the nett result the same as if those smurfs and PUGS werent on the ladder?

IIRC the rating match system used to be much tighter, and all the top teams complained at long, long waits between matches, with 20-30 minutes not being unusual, and that they would rather play for practically no points than to spend all night in the Guild Hall.

Casual teams cluttering up the ladder? Should be easy points then shouldnt it?
Record button for obs mode would be ftw, although fraps does the same job.

QFT. pally came really close to tanking us today.

Even though petitions are teh lame, I'm all for record buttons on observer matches. Would eliminate the need for fraps.

It actually gets much worse as you get higher on the ladder. You stand to lose a lot more to each individual PuG match, since many PuGs are rated in the 500 range. Guilds in the lower range of the ladder don't stand to lose more than 15 points to PuGs or smurf, while higher up you're going to be taking -25.

We took -25 the other night to a Japanese PuG. Admittedly we sucked and shouldn't have lost, but the rating change was definately not in proportion to the players in the PuG.

It happens, there is smurfing all the way up and down the ladder. You see it slightly less at the top, but it hits you harder when you do mess up. I don't honestly mind, I PuG a fair bit outside of guild GvG - and play against PuGs a lot. Generally it is just people looking to have a good time.

Of course, you could have some pug or smurf gunning to tank you. All I know is, when I see a r130 guild, I'm not a fan of seeing Im A Paladin in it.

But it's hard to draw the line. Maybe the guild is some upstart getting good guests to help them improve as players. Maybe it's a guild testing a build. Maybe it's a pug or a smurf. If it's a smurf, I think the noble thing to do is to /resign if you're going to tank someone gunning for a tournament slot. If it's a guild getting good guests to improve, then I suppose suck it up and take the loss.

Things are always so gray....

Then get to a decent rating so you have a lower chance of facing them.

If you can wipe them in 2 minutes, why can't you finish the game?

Well stop complaining i am in a good guild well... ok guild and we dont GvG much meaning when we do we usally swipe a 20 rating from some unlucky top 30 guild same happens to us when were there.. its how it wokrs get over it.

The system works they way it does and shouldnt be changed in my opinion because usally change is for the worst.

However being able to record matches and save them to YOUR computer through Guild Wars itsself would be very nice kind of like the saving builds and equipment works.

There is one point a lot of people don't understand.

Why are you fighting guilds with 2000 rank difference?

Because there is noone else. You can't have a guild near you always ALSO looking for a guild. All guilds have different playtimes. However, if there are people near you gvging, they're probably already fighting. You can't matchup people that are already in a gvg.

Now, I see only 1 solution. If there are no people with a max change of x% looking for a group (this should change accordingly to where you are on the ladder, obviously), it should check whether there are any groups of 8 in your rank area, and wait if there are any. The wait shouldn't be very long, but make it much more possible to find guilds near you.

If theirs another similarly ranked team, I believe you should be able to play them; however, I would rather play some other team then wait around 20minutes because theirs no teams entering around your range.

Losing to smurfs do suck tho =/ -23 to a cow smurf a while ago.

Definately could use a record feature. Unfortunately I run on a laptop tahts not particularly high end so if I used fraps id lag far to much during gvg.

I blame the increase of pugs upon the invention of teleway. But pugs happen I just wish you could decide a teams rating loss from the guilds in the opposing team or something. Losing to Im Stuck Lollllllllllllllllllllllww or whatever on its first match was pretty bad.

Smurfs suck, nothing worse than tanking your rating/rank at the end of a season because of allaince smurfs.

btw, I'm 100% for recordign stuff, if its anything like saving a reply was in Warcraft Im down. Good for yourself, and a good way to learn from guilds like iQ or QQ that might post them somewhere.

Have you ever considered looking from the other side? guild struggling up from rank 2000 to the top 1000 that encounter a top 100 guild?

I rather play then wait for an equally ranked guild. Yesterday we got a ranked 1900 guild against us (with us in the 400s) and after that we got a similar ranked guild... (only 3 places apart) tbh we had more troubles with the 1900 guild... why? they pull out unexpected things, a feeling of: "they are noobs, we win..." they dont belong on that rank? I really dont know..probably all of it together (the 2 aegises, the paragon, 2 monks, water hexer and necro anti-warrior might have something to do with it )

If you dont like to fight "low level" teams, wipe them in 2 mins, so your keyboard is warmed up...if you cant break them so fast... improve...

The system is now like this: you play some meaningfull matches and some that doesnt match... you want: some meaningfull matches and nothing else... sorry I chose for the first...gives me something to do...at an higher level then RA can offer me

most pugs are annoying and are just there to make your life miserable and prolong all matches to VoD D:

This is fine except when it's not. A scrub team can still last until VoD if they have massive defense in the form of paragons, multiple eles, or whatever. This can also happen if one team or the other is running a split build.

The metagame is terrible right now. That's all I have to say. paragons are so rediculously powerful, that the only way to kill things is spiking. My guild prefers the obs flame variety, others prefer to have Warriors or something in their build and do eurospike. Pressure is worthless these days.
