Aye. If you couldn't beat gimmicks in the normal days, you won't be able to this weekend either. Just because there's double champ points doesn't make a gimmick any better than it normally is. If you have any clue what you're doing, then you should be fully aware of the meta this weekend and do something about it (like modifying your build perhaps) to farm the guilds that are out to farm you. Less crying is kEy.

tbh, this event is just like the double fame event. The champ title will be the new r9 or w/e.

Since a lot of the farming guilds will be pressure orientated, I suspect a lo of guilds will be running a lot more support, so there shouldn't be much of a problem at all to the 1200+ guilds. Apart from that, nothing else should be different, good guilds will win and bad guilds will lose, like always, just a lot more people playing.

I wouldn't be surprised if they run it all weekend, it is really nasty.
That isn't FS's spike.

On the the subject of the weekend, it is horrbile timing. I wouldn't mind this sort of thing if it was maybe half way threw the season because it wouldn't alter it much. But now when teams are striving to get into the playoffs it'll suck to get ub3r pwNt by some pug made of top 50 players and get owned out of your chance.

Oh well, let the weekend begin.

Oh I apologize, I don't know who the original creater of the build is. It isn't the greatest spike build because of the lack of defense, but it is just funny to watch lol

Eh it does matter. Ever since obs was created, build stealing has been rampant throughout guild wars and creativity has dropped (not to say obs is bad, it has made the community more competitive from top to bottom, but that is a different discussion). Builds like oflame and the paragon iway take a bunch of individually balanced skills to create builds that were imbalanced in their metas. However "lame" they might be and annoying to play against, they are acts of ingenuity and should be accredited as such. Or rather should we all just run 3 RoA thumpers and 3 SF eles like everyone else on obs.

I know what you're saying, and you are right. However during a double glad weekend everybody is able to obtain the glads, some of them just choose not to. Same with double fame, everybody has the option to go into HA and get a group going but not everybody does. Double champ points however, not everybody has the option to do this. You cant just pop into some lobby and lfg to farm champ points.

I would still enjoy this weekend if I had a guild that was gaining them. However, that's the problem for a lot of people. Not everybody can get into 1200+ gvg, even if we are good enough to do so.

Most retarded week end event ever.

And a truly nasty thing to do to all the players that had for goal to make the top 32 (like the 20-40 guilds).

Call it a week end of testing to check out what you need to nerf, call it a week end of smurfing and pugging (because no one sane would go with his main guild), call it a week end of "it was a pvp week end turn", call it whatever you want, but don't call it fun.

The people that played went in because they wanted faction or champion points, but they went in as happy and as motivated as a 55 monk going on a visit to the trolls of Droknar to get gold for his next item. They didn't go in to have fun.

Saddest moment in guild wars for quite some time imo.

I agree completely Korrigan, no matter how many times people say "Oh, if your truly top 32 material, you shouldn't lose to pug," doesn't make it true in the slightest. At the moment there are many over-powered skills just waiting to be exploited, SF comes to mind immediatly. This weekend may be "fun" to the people trieng to get their champion titles, but it will be a nightmare for all those striving to enter the playoffs.

Anyways, whats done, is done. No turning back now, we'll just have to see how it all plays out.

As evidenced by the number of players with the name x hates spike or x hates sf, for one.

Champ farming is about as easy as fame farming in terms of lfg.

1200 isn't that hard to get.

So in the longest gvg season in a year, with the worst prizes of any gvg season, the most playoff qualifiers, and a fairly new chapter with unbalanced skills in play, I'm supposed to have sympathy for teams that wait till the last 2-3 days to make a push for playoff contention?

Considering that anyone under top 10 will likely lose their spot if they "camp" it as you are suggesting... The saving grace is this seasons rewards pretty much suck.

This will greatly influence all parts of the ladder, since many noob teams are playing and a 100 guild can easily get into top 50 by pounding on noobs while a top 50 guild may drop out due to inability to play as much this weekend. But yeah it's pretty stupid how all the noobs are going to run around with champion/fierce champion titles because they did a lot more gvg farming.

GvG has become really lame. HA became lame a year ago.

If this continues it might be the time to find another game.

I've been playing this weekend and it's really not that different, double champ points aside. GvG teams near the top of the ladder were already running mass gimmicks, because if you didn't run one of the three major gimmicks you'd get flattened by them. Aside from a few caster spikes, every match is Thumpers + Searing or Euroway or SoH split, and this weekend wasn't about to change that.

If you could succeed last week, you can probably succeed this weekend too.

If i wanted 4 SF eles in every team i'd play HA. Good thing they didn't think to modify the size of the team. How knows what would have happened.

I wasn't talking about guilds who are rank 400 trieng to push into the top 32. I'm talking about the guilds between the ranks 33-60, who still have a chance at making it into the playoffs. Noone is asking for your sympathy either. No matter what you say, or try to put it in a good light, the fact remains the timing of this event was terrible, whether you accept it or not.

Observer mode scared me last days. Never seen so much gimmicks at one place. It even reminds me the first days of Gw - more the monks - better the team. Works somehow with the SF :/
