Yeah, I am not sure WTF happened to [cow]. One minute they were tearing it up. The next thing I see they are dropping to page 2 and beyond.

I've heard rumours of what happened to Cow, and we all know what happened to Te (bye bye backline, hello WoW).

From what I here LOL is testing but kind of underprepared, ICE isn't going to be trying too terribly hard according to JR. A lot of teams, it seems, don't really give a crap, so I have a feeling the obvious choices are QQ and eF, who both want gold capes, The Japanese guilds that don't seem to care that the meta sucks, and PnH because they still need people to get behind them (they're sooo good, and really underrated as others have noted).

Many thanks - I am honored. Don't know how I missed your thread.

QFT - America's hope, QQ, doesn't have the amount of experience that the Euro Guilds have; eF goes back to Val and iB, PnH has been around forever, and EW has won a major tournament. While I'd argue that QQ and tag have an equal amount of skill, the experience plays a huge role IMHO. Still, pride won't let me put QQ lower than 2 on my list.

Probably right. I recall them playing in tournaments back when gale warriors were around. They are a very solid team, but they are still somewhat a newcomer to the recent tournament play. I sure wouldn't be surpirzed to see them in the top 5.

God, yes. QQ certainly holds the edge in flexibility, to play different builds and to have players take on different positions. But, geez, eF holds a big advantage in tournament experience and confidence. The eF guys are very talented and cocky, and that's why I love 'em. And Kyynel is only a half-step below God in warrior ability. I think QQ has the ability to pull off a victory, but it won't be easy.

Personally, it boils down to the battle between two of my favorite monks, Uhvl and Tommy.

It should be like Manchester United against Chelsea. Or, for real sports fans, the Chicago Bears against the Indianapolis Colts. Just simply, the two best teams. I can't wait.

Instinct tells me that QQ is either going to do incredibly well or rather poor. It doesn't seem that having just a normal finish is in the cards.

We will try our best, but the atmosphere within the guild isnt the best possible at the moment as we'll loose 3 guys from our 9 man core after playoffs.

So we might end up sucking badly, but who knows, we might still be able to play few decent games

My top 10 has to be:

1) Team Everfrost
2) Team Quitter
3) Esoteric Warriors
4) Frozen Flame
5) Peace and Harmony
6) Powerpuff Boys
7) Chaossanctuary
8) Storm Bearers
9) Ominous Latin Name
10) Supernova Jpn

I know most of these are euro guilds, but i havent seen any real flare from the U.S guilds in general. And guilds such as EW SB PnH and ICE have major tounrament experience, which will give them the upper hand. Also a bit of optimism never hurt anyone

Everfrost has more talent, knowledge, and experience than anyone else in the tournament, as well as the deepest roster. Whether or not they win will have more to do with whether or not they show up for the tournament (Can their guys show up to play or is the army going to keep them away? Have they organized enough to practice the format at all? Will Seppo be too drunk to play or just drunk enough to be in the zone?) than what their opponents are doing. At their best, the players in eF have shown that they belong in a list of the best in the world.

Frozen Flame has a lot of experience with the format (judging from what they've run on the ladder) and I'd expect a good finish...if their internal guild drama doesn't gimp them for the tournament.

Peace and Harmony has looked like they've been playing without some of their core members lately, and if that's going to carry over to the tournament they're in trouble. With their best players they're flexible enough to be dangerous. They have some excellent players but really suffer from a shallow roster.

There is a Cow Level didn't make the playoffs, but I agree with the sentiment that they are a more dangerous team than many of the American guilds that are in the tournament. Unfortunately for them, Cow has shown to be just as dangerous to themselves as their opponents.

QQ has some amazing talents in players like Smgzor or Daemon, but has really been hurt by how weak the American timezone has been this last season. Will that talent carry them through a more seasoned European field? I wouldn't bet against it, but it should make for some exciting GWTV.

Europe has a lot of new guilds, and I wouldn't bet against any of them. Sure many of them have been running one build all season, but Warriors plus dom Mesmers isn't exactly bad in this format. My guess is that this tournament is going to be a coming out party for one of these teams, and if I had to bet I'd put my money on dT. They've shown a deeper understanding of tactics than many of these teams and the will to use it. Do they have the talent or knowhow to compete with the likes of eF though?

We'll find out this weekend, eh?

Peace,
-CxE

I guess I will clear up the rumors.

Cow had serious activity issues all season long. We had serious, prolonged internet connection problems, people went on vacation, people had school and other life come up, blah blah blah. The only time we did manage to get the core together we had a great run -- 36 straight wins against some pretty solid teams.

But it didn't last. Since no one cared a whole lot about the greens and we didn't expect to make a good showing even if we limped into the playoffs, we just let it go.

Cow is not dead, nor has there been the excessive internal edrama people imagine. Believe it or not, we have had that kind of rage since the start, even when we were ranked #1. No one in cow pretends to be a gvg god nor are we at the top of our game. We push each other to try and get there -- frustration and criticism are part of competitive play imo, and not a sign of our impending explosion (given the roster).

Cow should be back in full form for the next real season.

lol thats some good wins u got there cow...and ensign is totally right, eurpoean guilds have been dominating atm unfortunately i didnt get a chance to see dt or cel play in their matches (nor most of the other guilds sigh) so i cant comment on their playing style that much, but whats the go with the american guilds? They were dominating last season (iq,qq, cow and wasnt wm and ib american as well? although there are som many wm guilds out there its hard to know..there universal, international etc) what happened to them this season, other than cows inactiveness qq is definetly still going strong, but it looks like europes game has gotten better a lot better...(or they are doing gimmick builds to get to the top...)

Korean guilds don't care much about this season, that's why there is no Korean guild in the playoff. WM was very active at the beginning of season, but then I think they take a break and will be right back in the next real season.
I agree with Ensign about eF. They are one of best guilds in the world atm besides WM. But I don't bet for them in this playoff because I still think they don't have much motivation to win it.
