I hear Shiz is the biggest trash talker in TA.

Also - just a question to the TA guilds such as [OoOo], [Serp], [Ghey] etc; What made you pick TA as your main form of PvP, over GvG?

Well, having been in several dedicated Team Arenas guilds, and always having been a somewhat regular TA player, pretty much the casualness of the gameplay. For awhile durring this summer I was busy enough that I didn't have a ton of time to commit to GvGs on most nights, and my schedule was different just about every night, so I wouldn't have been able to even do many GvGs in the first place. (8 vs 8) Heroes' Ascent just really wasn't my favorite gametype, even though I did play it alot in the past(although it was Toumbs back then...), and Team Arenas had some very good competition at that time(still does), even though it wasn't as serious or as competitive as GvG. The fact that the TA community is pretty closely knit, and it's exceptionaly easy to form a group from your Friends list there was also a big plus.

OoOo didn't come together with the idea of remaining mainly a TA guild. I think i can speak for all of us by saying we have all enjoyed arena style pvp for a while now, but our hopes are to start gvg as soon as we can get a promising core group together.

Basically everybody has summed up the reasons. Either we don't have the time to commit to GvG's, or we enjoy the casual play more. I know I would probably be considered a TA player, even though I do my share of HA and guest for gvgs whenever asked.

We all do more than just TA, but are known for doing TA because we all do it well.

Good question JR.

When Serp first started playing Guild Wars we fell in love with the 4v4 team format. It’s easy to set up, there are low commitments, and there is more of an emphasis on player skill. Most of us in the guild are working professionals and we find it hard to devote large amounts of time to different PvP formats. We also transitioned to Guild Wars from our previous game with three people and really couldn’t go any where else but TA.

We are still involved in TA because of the numbers in our guild- although our goal is to eventually GvG as much as we can. That segways into another reason we are involved in TA: because it offers kind of a “softball” version of GvG’s “hardball”. We feel that because the size of the teams are smaller there is less room on a TA format for someone to squeak by without knowing exactly what they are doing- it’s easy to tell that someone is a scrub when they are on your team in TA. When you are GvGing there is so much going on that you can’t audit your players as effectively. All of our guild and contacts we have met though TAing and the jump to GvG was more a matter of group strategy instead of training the players. There are plenty of guilds out there that try to GvG without really working on their TA game. And they struggle with what they think are build issues and strat issues when the real issue is that they don’t really have a strong set of players. They just try to run before they learn how to walk.

We never really got into Halls/Tombs/HA because we figured if we already had 8 then we might as well GvG- or now that there are 6 we just try to get guests to fill a GvG roster. Also, the builds we prefer to run in GvG don’t really translate well from the successful HA builds- but they do from the TA builds we design.

don't exclude the guildless ppl out there, please. :<

TA is relaxing cause there's no "we have to win or else we lose the goddamn rating >___<" kind of pressure. The games are quick and enjoyable, teams are easy to form, there's no VoD kind of thingy either ;p.

I have fun there. I never had fun the few times i actually I gvged. When i compare gvg to TA, chaos is all i can see in the former.

Even your guildies think of TA as nice and relaxing when they make a few runs there after several hours of tiring gvging =p

I love GvG, and occasionally I wish that I could do it more. However, I don't really have the option to get into top gvg guilds at the moment. I could easily get into the r300 guilds. Probably the r200 guilds. But if I were to give up being in [Ghey] I'd want it to be for a guild I could get champ points in. And a guild that was very, very active.

For me, I'd hate to be in a guild like Team Everfrost. Not because they all aren't very good players, but they only have 38 gvgs so far this season. Granted they are still rank 20, I would rather be in a rank 50+ guild that will get over 100 gvgs in. It's tough to thrust yourself into a guild like that without being r9+, or knowing the right people...even if you are a good player. So I'm just hanging out in TA, rackin up the glads. And when we go to HA, just getting closer and closer to that r9+.

Eventually I'll go back into a gvg guild, I'm just really enjoying my TA/HA time right now.

the thing i also dislike at the gvg ranking system is that an average team that plays really a lot, often farming rating at low ranked guilds, often ends up higher than a good team, that just happens to play less often...

that's just not right imo =p

Basically everything chase said..

one weak link in a TA team is much easier to notice than in a team of 8.

this topic of discussion needs its own thread btw :P

And, to be honest, I like the people in TA. It's a fun, but very comptetive atmosphere. And yes occasionally trash talk comes into place. Like yesterday, I was playing some weird build qweer wanted to play. We came up against OoOo, and it was during DeeR's 17 hour holding spree. So I said something bad about DeeR, because they annoy me. Somebody on the other team, made a comment about my mother. So I said something back. We beat them. Then we played them again, and I said something first. They beat us. We're both good teams, with good players. And to be honest, because we all know each other it makes the matches that much more comptetitive. If I didn't know half the OoOo members, my comments might not have fired them up like it did.

Another thing is, you never really need to PuG. There's always SOMEBODY to play with. And that's something everybody could love.

However, I'm speaking from my personal experiences. People that aren't as good might have a much harder time finding succesful groups. I don't really know for sure, but finding a group has always been a strong point for me in TA.

lol, what they said didn't make me mad. I'm the king of mom jokes. However, it was the fact that they had said something negative towards me, completely unprovoked that got me riled up a bit.

Lately I have had the pleasure of doing a bit of TA and its very relaxed, more so than any other pvp format I have experenced. Its the only place I would trust myself monking, but there is no 'top 100 experence' requirement for it which is nice.

Today though with Panda, Mephisto here, and two members of Ace we had the pleasure of playing MH. Now I have one question for anyone in MH who might happen to see this or anyone who experenced this team today: Why the hell was MH running a W/E with mindshock?

I'm guessing it was either for fun or an attempt to make a mockery of TA, or a bit of both..
