My only problem with this is the proposed time change.....2 more weeks of waiting for rebalancing and skill changes? I mean, this has seriously gone to far.....How long does Anet expect our patience to last, tossing out an expansion with not evn a half-assed attempts at rebalancing, putting (i think), the second or third fun season in a row, changing HA to 6v6 w/o ne indication or information of the statistics used to justify their change (no link to polls or such), another half-assed attempt at HA revitalization with supposedly "new" maps, which got rid of a much-loved map, made every altar match a 3-way gank fest, and added a lever to an alrdy useless map.........Not to mention the inclusion of upto four Heros in a 6v6 man environment with no action until recently.......Now you want us to go through a full test weekend to gather enough info to make changes?...So how long till these changes are actually implemented?....One month? 2 months? Half a year?
I mean really, i think im forgetting some stuff here but still, ANet u have really taken this game down to a level unimagined by its original dev team.......

Fo real, WTS Lever 1g. Hate that. I can understand why it was implemented, and at times it does make the matches much more interesting. However, there is nothing more annoying then a 1v1v1 situation where every team is running around for 40 minutes because they don't want to lose.

I'm skeptic.

The last time Anet made "Exciting new map changes" to Heroes' Ascent, you added a gate lock, deleted a good map, and made the altar maps have a random winner.

Thanks for the info Gaile!

Hopefully the changes will be really worth the advertisement this time. I agree that changes to maps and/or victory conditions are necessary, as long as they will be more radical than "lever". Its obvious that 8v8 has to return as well , and I hope it will be quicker than sooner ( by the end of january at latest ). Community is clear on that matter.

We will make a break from gvg and test it, although Im far from optimistic.

I think he meant...it is not obvious from the PR essay posted by Ms. Gaile that 8v8 is definitely coming back. That is all.

Iam sure alot PvE-only-Elementalist-players want to remain SF at it's current power. Iam also sure, if you would make a poll and ask them, the poll would be very clearly. If you make a game and design it, you have to design it for all potential players. In this case you have to adress all players who would enjoy a exciting new HA. Not just a selfproclaimed "HA-Community".

All iam saying on this issue is, - it's not obvious that a change in numbers is needed to fix the problems of this game-mode.

Just please, whatever you do don't remove a map other than scarred. If I log on and find out underworld was removed from the map rotation I just might kill myself.

19/01 Update Notes:
- Removed gates from Courtyard
- Remove Underworld from the rotation
- Reduced timer on Broken Tower and Courtyard to 2:30 (because people still wait, obv)
- Made improvements to the quest "Eye for Profit"
- Corrected the typographical error in the description of skill Pestilence

Thanks for the post Gaile!
Well it seems like people have been waiting for 8 vs 8 in the whole forums each and every guy in past 1000 posts have been screaming to bring back 8 vs 8 . But the way i see the point of waiting another 2 weeks after the long wait is just to see some new changes .
I guess the changes really convince people to go on and enjoy playing with 6 vs 6 which is not going to happen even with a major good update. They want 8 vs 8 for the reasons they posted before and changing the reasons wont help . Why not give them what they want and that is "8 VS 8" ~ even in the weekend we wait two weeks and we don’t even get to taste what it feels like to have a 8 vs 8 fight with nightfall skills in HA.

Any ways looking forward for the changes / but im sure they really have to be something That will make every one forget 8 vs 8 .If not then another 1 month of post spam in which people say get us 8 vs 8 and the beta was no fun. We are losing numbers everyday and we know why .So why not just change it.
Why not just get 8 vs 8 for 2-3 days and see if people really like it.

I only started doing HA around the time the 6v6 change was implemented so forgive my ignorance, but why was it changed from 8v8 in the first place? What was the reason Arena Net gave, especially since it seems to be met with such hostility from the players?

Just be straight up, is HA going to be 8v8 again? Then you can ramble about other changes.

If this form of testing works out, who knows?

Good to know someone in your staff knows the basics of scientific method. The person who decided to test 6v6 with double fame and infer popularity from that test clearly didn't.
Yes, the team does understand the process, and I do want to be sure you know that the change to 6v6 was not predicated simply by a weekend of double fame. We have made a commitment to make HA more fun and more interesting, and the results from this weekend of testing will not take the months you so direly predict. I can't say we'll have things done and dusted in a week or two, but if changes are determined or a second wave of testing is desired, it's not going to take us until summer to get it in gear.

Sorry, with no disrespect, it is not at all "obvious." The only thing that is obvious is that a large number of players want the change to party size, that that does not make it the obvious or correct choice. (You have only to look at politics to see that "majority" often != "the correct choice." )

Let's all keep an open mind and do the testing and see. (And I have to say, let's remember that the team working on this has dozens of years of design and balance experience and a commitment to make changes that are true improvements.) Maybe the party size will change; maybe it will not. But there are many other things that might and should change, so let's focus on them first. You know, for what it's worth, it might be said that focusing all the attention on party size is shortsighted, because simply changing the party size is like putting a bandaid on something that is more than "just a flesh wound." (ah ha! Third MP reference in an evening, I am pleased. )

Because we already know that that single change will not fix the problems of FotM, will not incorporate the newer gameplay elements we want to include, will not reinvigorate HA. People look back at 8v8 and see it throught rosey-coloured glasses, but in all honesty, there were problems with 8v8, too, remember? Rather than bouncing back from one less-than-perfect solution to another, the team would like to make strides forward.

Bring back our high-end arena please Anet, I want to see HA as a TRUE ALTERNATIVE to GvG as it was before.

8v8 was lame. That would only bring back iway / vimway (ok nerfed skills but ok...) and we still have that shit called spirit spam or jagged spam. Now try to expand that to 8v8 and you get the whole situation even worse... (look at Miam playing gvg with jagged way overpowered to most of guilds they were playing against ).

Here we go again with the "IWAY will come back, its too imba!!1!" reference...

Also, Gaile is right. During the original 8v8 HA, people were still crying about problems in HA. Whether it was "nerf IWAY/VIMWAY'" or "change this/that", there were many complaints. So, instead of throwing an individual stone at a bird every week, they decided to grab a machine-gun full of rocks and kill the dastardly bird once and for all.

I'm prepared to keep an open mind and see what happens. I'm glad that they're looking at the problem more holistically, rather than simply fiddling with one or two variables. I honestly think that HA may need to be rebuilt almost from the ground up at this point in order to create more variety and interest in it again. I think a good start would be new maps with different victory conditions, and a whole new reward system that encourages people to win it. So, I'm cautiously optimistic.
