Default A perfect pvp situation...

After reading numerous topics how Guild Wars shouldn't be and why Anet is bad/evil/stupid, I'd like to see if the pvp community can do better. I'd like to see if this community is capable of creating an Utopia (aka. perfect place that doesn't really exist).

So: the purpose of this thread is to create a 'perfect' pvp situation, that every pvp'er enjoys.

Basically, every pvp'er can sketch how he would like a specific aspect of pvp.

The only limitations are:
- The game must stay profitable (for Anet).
- You must give a clear reason (aka argument) why you prefer the situation you describe above the current one.
- Your perfect situation must be (extremely) detailed.
- You can comment on someone else his post, but stay polite and avoid falling back on 'opinions'.

In other words, in this thought experiment you can add/remove/change pretty much everything if you want too except the cost prise of the game.

I'll give an example:

My ideal ranking would be based on 3 things:
1) Knowledge and putting this knowledge into action.
2) Experience (pretty much like the current ranking).
3) Winning with specific conditions.

We would determite the knowledge by 'tests'. Some examples: there would be a test where you need to dodge +-10 projectiles. In another test you need to run from one place to another one (the parcour would have area effects like lava and miasma), while being chased by an (autoattacking) warriorbot by using only 3 skills: (low specced) dodge, troll unguent and (a low specced) pin down. Another test could test adrenal spiking, here you have to kill 3 300 hp bots that can cast restfull breeze on each other. There should be quite a lot of tests like these.

In order to prevent abuse, you would need to gather a specific amount of fame, gladiator points or champion points each time you want to try a test (but if you succeed in a test, you can immidately try another one).

Once you have completed at least 80% of these tests you can chose to play only with and against players that did the same. From that moment, your ranking would be determined by the amounts of time you win an (almost) flawless victory within a time limit against a team with players that have completed most tests too. Thus, if you lose, this ranking would go down.

Another option for people who completed all the tests is to search new players and help them fighting in an area, this would net a small amount of points (there would be an limit on the amount of 'points' you can get each day this way).

The advantages with this system is that new players are forced to learn specific handlings (kiting, interrupting, dodging, etc) if they want to participate in high-end pvp. Besides, the ranking system would be more useful.

No one expects perfection, we just want imba skills to be nerfed within a reasonable time frame.

In a perfect world every skill would be balanced meaning that you're nor forced to take anything to stay competitive (not meaning that you can go in with empty skillbars, but you can more or less take any 64 skills you want, as long as they have some sort of synergy). The game would take a minute to learn, but a lifetime to master (unlike the button mashing some builds have now), and would therefore be about skill instead of about skills.

And I would be rank 14

Perfect skill balance is the main thing, although probably impossible, where build designers can pick and choose from the entire range of skills available, as opposed to the current tiny handful of PVP viable skills, and every single skill decision is an agonising either/or.

Next up is probably rank. Again it is probably impossible, but rank should really be a reflection of team skill (in the case of team rank) or player skill (in the case of individual rank) as opposed to a measure of how much you have played. I have more than 1100 fame, but I suck at HA. That 1100 fame has come over nearly 2 years.....I'm not even the first rank in Champ points but on my day I can be pretty good, certainly much better than I am at HA....How to fix? Well, in an ideal world every guild on the ladder plays a fixed number of matches over a set period against preset opponents. Sadly, such a system is impossible practically for a number of reasons. I dont have the slightest clue how to measure HA skill accurately other than matching teams against other teams of equal ability (take the avg fame of each player in a team and use that as a team index and match teams with similar indexes wherever possible.). Still wont stop people farming though, so I dont know. Scrap the whole idea of gladiator points from random arenas. RA used to be quite a fun place to practise specific skills and individual builds, but now every other run is blighted by quitters "OMG we dont have a monk I'm leaving". Used to be a fun relaxing format, not any more.

No grind, of any kind. The PVP edition was a massive step in the right direction, but still, I dont want to grind faction for stupid runes and inscriptions. Just give me the tools and let me play please.
